To feel gutted I have spent my birthday alone and with no birthday wishes..

Today is my birthday and it's been dreadful, I only have a handful of " friends" ( lost a lot of " friends" after I got diagnosed with a Chronic illness) and I see family when it suits them.

AIBU to feel gutted that i have not received one " Happy Birthday" and after inviting family over for a catch up and a slice of cake no one has turned up?

Or should I just brush it off and get on with it because I am a grown adult and birthdays are no longer important?

Currently sat here feeling sorry for myself with a take away and a very large slice of cake.

I had a rubbish birthday last year, my 30th and nowt from my parents. I've decided not to go to any effort for others now, and my birthday is a day for me to spoil myself.

So from now on rely on no one, you are your most important fan, and deserve to love yourself a bit more on your birthday by spoiling yourself.
