AIBU - just saw my cleaner clean the loo with a cloth and then use it in another room on my bath!

Was talking to my cleaner as I usually change beds etc while she's here, went to talk in one bathroom and she was cleaning the loo with a bright orange cloth.
Went downstairs to make us tea, she's now in out ensuite and using the same cloth on our bath. I cannot be 100% sure as we have 2 of these cloths in the bag but I will look later to see if the other one has been used.
She comes from an agency so I can just ring the agency and cancel her.
I am a spineless twat and should probably just go up and ask her though shouldn't I? I have clearly told her to use one cloth in each bathroom as we have 4 kids and there's always some virus lurking but she thinking of it she can't do that because there's only ever 2 cloths out out to be washed.
I feel slightly ill.
Someone help me phrase it so I don't sound rude??

Oh yuck that's grim!

Blerk!

Have had to have a similar conversation once, it had never occurred to the person that the loo cloth should ONLY be used for the loo!

MewlingQuim · 15/09/2016 16:08

I use a loo brush to clean the toilet.

TheDisreputableDog · 15/09/2016 16:09

WTF are people doing cleaning inside toilets with a cloth...!! Ewww

Use a brush (and replace regularly, blah, Mumsnet loo brush chatter, blah)

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/09/2016 16:10

I use a brush but you still need a cloth for the rest if the loo.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/09/2016 16:11

**of

StealthPolarBear · 15/09/2016 16:16

I've never understood the issue with drying clean hands on a tea towel. Plus if your hands are so filthy so you dry up using your feet?
Can someone please explain? I'd ask my mum but it would just confirm my slatternly ways to her.

Gottagetmoving · 15/09/2016 16:17

Toilet brushes are terrible for harbouring bacteria because they are left wet and bacteria thrives in damp conditions.
A disposable cloth is much better. Or a cloth that can be washed and dried.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/09/2016 16:22

A loo brush is only used to clean the loo so doesn't matter if there is bacteria, I'd rather that than wash a loo cloth. Bleach on the brush and in the holder is more than adequate to keep it clean.

flirtygirl · 15/09/2016 16:57

This is the reason id never have acleaner, everyone standards are so different, ive seen a hospital cleaner wipe the floor then a table top with the same cloth, gross.

Madeyemoodysmum · 15/09/2016 17:11

I use the same sponge in the bath and sink and then do the loo last. There is do much anti bac spray on it I'm pretty sure all germs are dead by the time we use it again I do the bathroom weekly but sometimes so the sink again with a wipe. I wouldn't be that fussed but ask her to do loo last myself

Madeyemoodysmum · 15/09/2016 17:13

Surely the op is talking about the seat and under seat not the actual bowl????

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/09/2016 17:13

Made- sorry but that's revolting.

Cromwell1536 · 15/09/2016 17:14

But WHY would you use cloths and not kitchen roll, which you throw away into a plastic bag after each 'item' (sink, bath, floor, bog) and then dispose of said plastic bag into main rubbish. Germs all gone, house all lovely and clean, no stinky germ-ridden cloths to wash, dry and store separately. FFS!

Madeyemoodysmum · 15/09/2016 17:15

Ha ha. Then I'm revolting. But I'm not dead and we rarely get sick bugs. We are too clean these days.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/09/2016 17:18

My standards are one up from zero but honestly using the same cloth is rank. If you're worried about being 'too clean' don't use anti bac but use separate cloths.

hmcAsWas · 15/09/2016 17:19

This is why I no longer have a cleaner - because we all do things differently and rarely does your idea of how to clean and what constitutes a priority, coincide with anyone else's

I really could do with a cleaner too - my house takes hours of cleaning weekly just to stay moderately presentable

SlightlyperturbedOwl · 15/09/2016 17:23

This is exactly why we don't have a cleaner (and the cost obviously)

hmcAsWas · 15/09/2016 17:24

Oh and just to add to the discussion on toilet cleaning - here's how I clean a loo (feel free to critique):
Antibacterial disposable wipes on the seat, rim etc and disposable toilet duck pad for the bowl (which I then bin rather than flush, since they say they are flushable but in reality they block the plumbing)

My laundry practises court controversy - I put underwear in the same hot wash as tea towels. Some of my friends went green at this ( we do talk about stuff other than cleaning Blush )

SatansLittleHelper2 · 15/09/2016 17:29

I don't get the shitty > replies about the op having a cleaner. The op is providing work for someone, or is there something wrong with being a cleaner ??

Anyways op, I have a cleaning regime for my loo, I buy the dead cheap, asda smartprice scrubby sponges (( think theyre around 49p for 10 )) and rolls of that blue cloth stuff. Like paper towels but stronger. The sponges are used to scrub the inside of the loo then binned and the blue roll for the outside. Also binned afterwards.

I am a slattern tho.so it doesnt get a good going over that often, if your a 3 times a week loo scrubber the waste may seem too high.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 15/09/2016 17:29

You can't clean a toilet properly with a toilet brush. It won't go under the rim or into the bend, or get the corner/edges at the bottom.

donajimena · 15/09/2016 17:33

I'm a cleaner and I use loo roll to clean toilets (I have one that doesn't disintegrate readily in my kit)
Perhaps you could share this 'genius' tip?

Janus · 15/09/2016 17:33

Yes the cloth was down the toilet but just at the top not in the water! But seat was up so I think she'd done the rim and seat too and then moved on to my bathroom which would be bath, shower, sink and loo again, all with same cloth. That's what freaked me out as (having 4 kids) there's always a chance one of them having a bug and then it gets spread all over each others bathrooms.
In fact I was at the Drs this week with one who has a persistent stomach ache and another is also saying the same so now I have a possible source. Am now going to clean it all again.
BUT I did speak to her and we have agreed that separate cloths for loo and sinks and then they go in the wash and the next bathroom has new cloths as I think at this time of year there's always some bug lurking so if feel happier that way. She understood and was absolutely fine with me.

Shock there are really people here who don't see an issue with this?? And would continue to wash their faces when in the bath?

I wouldn't say I'm overly concerned about hygiene at home but even I wouldn't touch anything with a cloth that had cleaned the bowl of the loo. It'd actually be more hygienic to leave the inside of the loo alone completely than it is to use the loo cloth elsewhere. The cleaning agents don't render it completely sterile...if it did then why clean the cloths?

It would be very interesting to see if the posters who think this is fine are also people who think peeing in the shower is gross.

dementedpixie · 15/09/2016 17:34

My toilet brush has a sticky out bit to do under the rim. Never had a problem cleaning the edges at the bottom either

Janus · 15/09/2016 17:37

Thank you satans, all the 'clean your bogs yourself' sort of comments are rude. Believe me with 4 kids and a husband who works away all week I am not sitting on my ass painting my nails while the cleaner works!! I am cleaning too, changing beds, hoovering etc. I don't ever sit down until at least 9pm each evening so I wish people would bog off 😂!!
