AIBU - just saw my cleaner clean the loo with a cloth and then use it in another room on my bath!

Was talking to my cleaner as I usually change beds etc while she's here, went to talk in one bathroom and she was cleaning the loo with a bright orange cloth.
Went downstairs to make us tea, she's now in out ensuite and using the same cloth on our bath. I cannot be 100% sure as we have 2 of these cloths in the bag but I will look later to see if the other one has been used.
She comes from an agency so I can just ring the agency and cancel her.
I am a spineless twat and should probably just go up and ask her though shouldn't I? I have clearly told her to use one cloth in each bathroom as we have 4 kids and there's always some virus lurking but she thinking of it she can't do that because there's only ever 2 cloths out out to be washed.
I feel slightly ill.
Someone help me phrase it so I don't sound rude??

You'd all be horrified to hear as a chambermaiding teenager I saw others use the cloth they'd just used in the loo in the last room on the cups and glasses in the next. It's often policy in hotels that cups etc are washed in the room - in the bathroom sink. And the sink isn't normally cleaned til after!

The chemicals used in the cups were the same as those used to clean the loo (fierce stuff) but even so I always wash cups in a hotel room. Or drink water straight out of my own bottle!

Haven't RTFT so sorry if that's a repeat!

YANBU op. I'm shocked at the amount of throwing away of cloths and gloves on this thread. The environment! Same for cleaning chemicals too. Not sure what the answer is.

Katharine Kitchen paper doesn't disintegrate in the sewage system!!! I use loo wipes and/or kitchen paper and put them in the bin (in a cheap nappy bag). Please don't put kitchen paper down the loo!

apringle · 19/09/2016 10:17

So gross! I had to deal with that with my first housekeeper. My current one knows to use paper towel on all toilets and cloths on the sink and tub etc. Just tell her that's what you want.

My cleaner used my baby's little face flannel to clean the bathroom Angry. I was so spineless I waited until she quit which luckily was only a week after. Still haven't been able to replace her yet. Can't even get a shit cleaner where I live, let one a good one. Shock

Toilet Duck disposable cleaner thingy every time for me!

When I stay in hotels I hide my toothbrush because of stuff I've read about hotel cleaners!!!

I"m afraid I would be feeling like I'd have to move house after what you've seen!!!
Obvs I'd just clean EVERYTHING with a steam cleaner and never use that cleaning company again.
I'm freaking out a bit just having read the OP. Shock

celeste83 · 19/09/2016 11:58

I think the small time cleaning companies are the better way to go than the big cleaning companies. The smaller one or two person seem to have better customer care and closer attention to detail.

The things said about hotels have proved me right and ill show my husband this thread as he has laughed at me for years for cleaning our hotel rooms when we check in then asking the cleaning gladies not to come until we check out.

As ill clean it myself, if sheets need changing ill go and ask for them and do it myself. Only way to relax whilst away as ive seen the cloths and cleaning buckets they carry and they are always minging. Nothing clean can come out of anything dirty.

Bit OT but here goes...

I was in my brother's hospital room (he was in a private room as he was recovering from hospital acquired C.Diff), and was appalled to see the cleaner wipe the bathroom - including the toilet - then use the same disposable wipe to clean his table.

I spoke to one of the nurses at the station and was told they were aware but there was nothing they could do as the cleaner couldn't understand English.

WTAF? We were warned how infectious and difficult to treat it is and that we had to take extra care with hygiene. Where were the warnings to the cleaning staff?

I use wipes and kitchen roll for certain jobs, but throw them in a nappy sack after use, never down the loo - even if they're dispersible. Our local sewer system is notorious for blocking up. I honestly don't understand people who throw things like cotton buds and wet wipes down the loo, especially when the water board is around un-blocking and sticking flyers through doors asking them not to.

wiltingfast · 20/09/2016 14:09

I actually don't think those disposable toilets wipes are that great if you really want to clean the loo. I only use those in between to do a quick wipe/shine up. Otherwise I get a sponge and scrub with bleach. I personally use the same sponge all over but do loo last and then dump the sponge. I kinda think even that's probably a bit ott give sponge is soaked in bleach and probably totally void of germs Grin

StealthPolarBear · 20/09/2016 18:46

Surely those flushable brushes are worse than 'flushable' wipes?

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 20/09/2016 18:59

Please don't put "flushable" loo brushes and wipes and kitchen roll down the loo.

StealthPolarBear · 20/09/2016 19:05

Well no but I use wipes. And whenever I mention that people are horrified, despite the fact I usually say I don't flush them. Yet nothings ever said about the flushable loo brushes

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 20/09/2016 19:41

That wasn't to you StealthPolar, it just was a general rant.

StealthPolarBear · 20/09/2016 19:43

I know :) just occurred to me that wipes are seen as the cleaning products of Satan himself, but flushable toilet brushes are seen as sane and hygienic

celeste83 · 20/09/2016 21:01

Those flushable toilet brushes are a waste of time. They don't contain disinfectant so its not actually killing germs. I don't care if anyone says 'its a toilet not something you eat off', the toilet is full of the bad germs at the end of the day. Also these flushable brushes you cannot use with other cleaning products to make up for the lack of disinfectant.

wiltingfast · 20/09/2016 22:02

omg I've actually never heard of flushable toilet brushes Grin
