sorry to seem slow but there are all kinds of situations where Maui is the answer and I have never seen any suggestion why!

OP posts:

jobrum I think was pippa

wombattoo · 14/09/2016 17:31

WildwestWind · 14/09/2016 17:33

Thanks Paul.
My favourite thread was the one about the bobble falling behind the loo

RJnomore1 · 14/09/2016 17:33

Queen was the decadent spa a Jamie something?

LetsJunglyJumpToIt · 14/09/2016 17:38

Maui was brilliant. I'd forgotten about the cruise as a hen do. And the wedding had to be in Maui, regardless of who the OP was getting married to, infact that bit seemed to be a bit irrelevant.

FruVikingessOla · 14/09/2016 17:42

There are loads of MN standing jokes Wink

And Maui has reminded me to give you all ...... TONGA Grin

RJnomore1 · 14/09/2016 17:48

TONGA! Haha I had forgotten that 😂

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 14/09/2016 17:51

OMG the £8 Artisanal Crackers! I had forgotten about them! Naughty Nanny...

FruVikingessOla · 14/09/2016 17:54

It was hilarious. The more that people were Googling/searching/trying to find the blessed book (all power to many lovely MNers) the more she kept shouting TONGA

rollonthesummer · 14/09/2016 17:57

Can someone link to one of Pippa's threads??

EverySongbirdSays · 14/09/2016 18:02

Ooo what was tonga? Before my time but Pippa, Cheque, and Maui are recent popular slang as I was on or lurking on all of the above and I only joined in March.

PaulAnkaTheDog · 14/09/2016 18:05

Advance search pavolvapippa.

PaulAnkaTheDog · 14/09/2016 18:06

pavlovapippa even!

DonaldStott · 14/09/2016 18:12

'So I told MIL she was the carcass' Grin

carcassgate was hilarious, but I don't think it was a troll.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 14/09/2016 18:17

Was she the one who wanted to be the local May Queen or something? Despite the fact it was usually a fifteen year old?

ghostyslovesheep · 14/09/2016 18:17

was Pippa the one who didn't work but was angry her DH wouldn;t take a day off work to take delivery of the very expensive marble table?

I liked her she was a classic troll !

BalloonSlayer · 14/09/2016 18:29

Jeez I misread upthread and thought she got dressed up as Princess Anne to sing at parties.

Am wheezing at the thought!

AliceScarlett · 14/09/2016 18:34

Ah, excellent trolling. Come back Hailey!

AliceScarlett · 14/09/2016 18:35

I miss Yoni man.

Tryingtostayyoung · 14/09/2016 18:38

I miss Pipa, come back!!! She provided endless entertainment!

DextersMistress · 14/09/2016 18:38

Oh I miss Pippa.

Tryingtostayyoung · 14/09/2016 18:38

ghostyslovesheep Yes!!!

FruVikingessOla · 14/09/2016 18:49

TONGA! was rather convoluted. IIRC, the OP (or the OP was posting on behalf of a 'friend'), was trying to find a book which was generally about the history of Tonga, but, apparently, it had a chapter about some naval battle which the OP's (or her 'friend's') ancestor had fought in, as a naval captain, near Tonga.

The OP/friend had lived in Tonga many years ago (her DH had been a British diplomat there) and she had loaned the book to a Princess of Tonga. The PoT never returned the book to her and subsequently moved to Switzerland (or somewhere?!). All appeals, for the return of the book, to the Princess and Tongan royal family had fallen on deaf ears. Unfortunately the OP/friend actually couldn't remember the title or author of the book.

Of course, there were suggestions to keep trying the Tongan Princess and the Tongan royal family for the return of the original book. But also loads of clever MNers did their best to try to find/Google this book. All responses were met with increasingly loud "NO, I said TONGA" etc.

I've found this zombie thread about it after the original thread was zapped www.mumsnet.com/Talk/what_were_reading/2286950-Wheres-the-Tonga-book-thread-gone

TheEmmaDilemma · 14/09/2016 18:52

This thread has sent me on a loop and I just managed to post on a zombie thread. I was weeping again at Sharon.

TathitiPete · 14/09/2016 18:56

DH and I wanted to get married in Maui (or 'Maui'd' if you like) but our money didn't stretch that far.
