Roald Dahl celebrates 100 years...what's your children's outfit.

Because I'm a shit parent, I bought ds material and assumed I had until Friday to make ds2 outfit (other child on holiday) he was going as a golden ticket, I bought gold shines material and infill and also black material and black thread for the sewing machine.... Until we received a text at 16.03 reminding us about the celebration....

I desperately need inspiration, I have fabric pens, I'm sending dh to Asda for a white t-shirt, I have material pens, fabric paints, printer, goggle, Roald Dahl books... I want to cry, I'd rather be drinking wine.

Please tell me I am not alone and please give me inspiration. My drawing skills aren't the best either.

Draw a golden ticket on the t shirt?

HeyMicky · 12/09/2016 20:15

I'm just going to not wash DD and send her as Mrs Twit

Lilaclily · 12/09/2016 20:16

Make big ears out of empty cereal packet and a horn out of a kitchen roll thingy and go as BFG

Lilaclily · 12/09/2016 20:17

Or Sophie from bfg with just a dressing gown and a book

SaucyJack · 12/09/2016 20:18

Can you make him a beard out of wool/fake fur, superglue a load of cornflakes in it and send him as Mr Twit?

Lj8893 · 12/09/2016 20:18

Dd is wearing a red dress dress, red cardigan with a faux fur collar attached. Golden ticket I have just made, voila Veruca Salt! She has a tou squirrel she can clutch aswell!

PrizeyPrize · 12/09/2016 20:19

Bought orange face paint and green hairspray from hobby craft today. Lady at checkout said 'so an oompa loompa tomorrow then is it?' It would seem I'm the least original mum in town. Confused

edwinbear · 12/09/2016 20:20

dd is wearing last years halloween costume - a witch. Unfortunately for her teacher it cackles when she presses a button on it. Although I'm quite sure dd will only dare press it once.

DerekSprechenZeDick · 12/09/2016 20:21

Mine wearing yellow as he hates dressing up

Petal12 · 12/09/2016 20:24

Own clothes, plus name badge reading "George" plus an empty bottle with a label marked "Marvellous Medicine". Voila!

PokemonWanker · 12/09/2016 20:25

Mine is going in normal clothes with a bottle filled with squash and glitter. He will be George from George's Marvellous Medicine.

He also hates dressing up. Grin

SueGeneris · 12/09/2016 20:25

DD and DS are both going as the BFG. Green /khaki trousers, sandals, white t shirt and waistcoat. I've stick some battery powered mini fairy lights we had in plastic tubs and mixed some green shredded tissue paper in for dream catcher jars. Thought about sending them with fishing nets but what would they do with them?! Haven't got ears or anything . It's just a day. I thought it was later in the week too.

Marmitemadmummy · 12/09/2016 20:25

George. Spill paint on the White tshirt. Wear shorts and tie spoons, old carton etc... to belt loops.

RumAppleGinger · 12/09/2016 20:27

DS is going as an oompa loompa and will no doubt be singing their songs all day.

MsJamieFraser · 12/09/2016 20:30

Fab ideas, the children will look awesome, dh went off to Asda to buy a white t-shirt, unthinking of doing a compilation of books, and possibly a football style on the back with number 100 however with a Roald Dahl quote underneath the number....

Here goes...

DS1 is going as James. I'm buying a big balloon tomorrow, and tissue paper and ova glue, cover the balloon, paint it orange and pop the balloon, put some plastic bugs inside. There's his giant peach.

WeAreEternal · 12/09/2016 20:34

DS (9) who doesn't 'do' dressing up will be going in normal clothes as either George, with a bottle of marvellous medicine or Charlie Bucket with a golden ticket. (Both of which we already have)

Crisscrosscranky · 12/09/2016 20:36

DD is going as Mrs Twit. Apparently all the other girls in her class are going as Matilda!

BikeRunSki · 12/09/2016 20:39

Short trousers (i.e. school shorts) or too short trousers all ragged up, knitted jumper, bit mucky, flat cap if you have one, toy spanner, bag of raisins - Danny Champion of the World.

ApollO88 · 12/09/2016 21:10

Crochet beard, crazy pencilled in eyebrows, too small waistcoat. dS is clearly going to be mr twit..... Obvious right?..... Poxy costume day on a Tuesday!

DD is going as the enormous crocodile, DS as Mr Twit. Our school isn't doing it til Friday though, thankfully.

queenc81 · 12/09/2016 21:15

I've bought this outfit for my ds. Safe to say he's very pissed off and told me he's moving out if I make him wear itHmm

To be fair we only got told Friday that he needed an outfit for this coming Friday, I can't sew or magic up an amazing home made outfit so bought the first thing I saw Grin

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 12/09/2016 21:15

Are all schools doing this?

Better check school bags would be too much to assume DH had done it.

glenthebattleostrich · 12/09/2016 21:18

Dr is going as the chief witch so doubles as her Halloween costume too :)

She was going to be veruca salt until her best frienemy decided she had to be too.

JemimaMuddledUp · 12/09/2016 21:19

DD went to a Roald Dahl event at the museum at the weekend as Veruca Salt. Party dress, golden ticket, lanyard with "Visitor Pass" to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. Job done.
