To ask what a "hipster is?

So this term is bandied about a fair bit.

But what defines "hipster" ?

The hipster coffee shop near my work (beards, man buns, tricycles, etc) is SO NICE AND FRIENDLY, they have great customer service and want you to have a lovely time.

The beard, skinny jeans and waistcoats are just the fashion, there are lots of non-hipsters with beards and waistcoats at the moment.

It's the attitude that makes the hipster, they always liked 'it' "before it was fashionable/before they were famous/before anyone else had discovered it...". Once everyone else likes it, they don't.

They've always been around, there's just a name for them now.

Recently near my home I saw a very beardy man in a velvet cap and a set of braces very ostentatiously picking blackberries off a bush and placing them gently into a satchel. This bush was on the main road through an industrial estate, fuck knows what was on those blackberries.

I also live in quite a scary estate, think more abandoned shopping trolleys and people fighting in the street, than artisan micro breweries. I would be surprised if the poor hipster didn't get his head kicked in for being a twat. I felt a bit sorry for him. I hope he got away safely with his blackberries and the exhaust fumes on them didn't kill him

Badtime but normcore is so 2014.

I'd bet that most hipsters had an expensive, private education.

I just bought some fudge from a shop that was entirely staffed by beardy hipsters. There was about 8 of them and they were mixing it in copper pots and giving it away for free, mostly (the fudge that is. Maybe beard clippings too, who knows?). Actually I think it might have been part of a chain.
Nice fudge though.
