To think some commenters on the AIBU threads are just bitchy

Some posters really are just plain nasty. Bitchy keyboard warriors. I'm actually gobsmacked by the level of vitriol in some of them. Why do people do it?

OP posts:
Soubriquet · 11/09/2016 21:11

And while we are at it I'm sick of seeing the word bitch and bitchy

Unless you are actually talking about a female dog Wink

Yes I know what you mean. I was trying to inject a bit of fun which failed..

fastdaytears · 11/09/2016 21:16

You made me laugh Soubriquet but I got distracted and didn't do you a laughy face

fastdaytears · 11/09/2016 21:18

Now you're just being a 🐕

Soubriquet · 11/09/2016 21:19

Shock how rude!

But then again I am a pedigree darling

BastardGoDarkly · 11/09/2016 21:23

Ha! After googling sententious, I came across Pecksniffian! See? MN is fucking ace!

ABloodyDifficultWoman · 11/09/2016 21:30

Pecksniffian

I absolutely LOVE when you learn a new word and as a bonus it has so many potential uses. Fabulous!

YourNewspaperIsShit · 11/09/2016 22:43

YANBU I have been made to cry on at least 4 separate occasions, it's like some people couldn't give a toss that they're addressing real people with real emotions

I find it quite disturbing actually that someone can be so nasty

ilovesooty · 11/09/2016 22:48

If you are emotionally affected by AIBU it might be a good idea to post elsewhere.

Presumably if the posts that distressed you broke talk guidelines you reported them?

YouTheCat · 11/09/2016 22:53

Those that deliberately set about to upset others and nit pick at inconsequential shit are utter bastards and then I end up picking at them and it all gets messy.

I've noticed a number of posters that just seem to answer threads in order to goad and belittle the OP. Half the time they haven't even read the post properly and are niggling at some minor detail that they usually have got wrong anyway. Once this is pointed out they very rarely apologise or they still argue their own agenda because they are twats.

YourNewspaperIsShit · 11/09/2016 22:54

Not often that anywhere else replies to be totally honest, it's nice to get so many people actually speaking to you as I don't have anyone at all to discuss things with IRL. Yes i do report them but I would say most people just NC and keep going

YourNewspaperIsShit · 11/09/2016 22:55

In fact ilove a lot get reported before I even get the chance to read them by other posters which is v kind

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 11/09/2016 22:56

FFS another thread? There is one every couple of days whinging about how mean everyone is.

Shame that MN is compulsory, isn't it! Oh wait....

If you have something to say about a poster's comment, say it on the thread. Or join in on one of the other threads about how bitchy threads are these days...

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 11/09/2016 22:58

and with the influx of trolls recently it's not surprising that people are getting pissy. Although AIBU has never been for the faint of heart.

derxa · 12/09/2016 01:34

Just state your opinion clearly and then disengage. Other posters should not have the power to make you cry. As Sparklingbrook always says the Hide this thread button is very useful. You can't control the actions of x number of posters on this forum. If you are very unhappy with what someone says then report.
I've been on MN for only a year but I find it a fascinating insight into how other people live and think.

LouisvilleLlama · 12/09/2016 01:48

AIBU is the Lions Den. A free for all, a mixture if people being unfair because it's anonymous and also because of so many trolls a lot don't find many serious so see no harm

LittleBearPad · 12/09/2016 07:37

It's rubbish to say posting in AIBU is necessary otherwise no one replies. Chat is busy, S&B is busy, relationships is busy along with a host of other boards. MN has a lot more to it than AIBU.

YourNewspaperIsShit · 12/09/2016 08:05

Yes but if your question doesn't fit into the other available topics then they mostly go here. Also I put one thread in AIBU and got 300 responses plus one in parenting and got 1 response so it really is a traffic thing half the time for a lot of people. Most AIBU posts even say 'posting for traffic'

Doggity · 12/09/2016 09:01

I understand what you are saying YourNewspaper (great name, btw!) but if people started posting more on other boards, then they'd be busier. If you post in chat and then bump it if it gets missed, you'll get similar advice but without the bun throwing.

YourNewspaperIsShit · 12/09/2016 09:51

Thanks Doggity yes I agree there, I do wish the other sections were as busy as AIBU but I suppose people enjoy arguing online Grin

Doggity · 12/09/2016 11:07

Where else would we offload our suppressed rage? Wink
