AIBU?

To ask what would you do with a £13k windfall?

On the back of another thread, just wondering what people would do if they unexpectedly came into that amount of money? I would be torn between sensible middle aged options like kitchens and cars and not sensible midlife crisis options like going on some worldwide trip. AIBU to ask WWYD?

Divide it up between my 3 children. DH & I are fine as we are & they'll be able to put it towards car, university, travel etc

Chuck most of it at the mortgage. Use some of it to fund a writing retreat.

domino I wonder what business you would start with £13k? Another thing I hadn't thought of! (not that I have found £13k in my garden but still, I'm enjoying having the problem of deciding what I would do with it).

If under 40 next year I'd put as much as i could in a lifetime isa, the one where the government top it up 25% at year end. For this year I'd settle any high interest debts and put as much as i could in decent interest earning accounts.

I'd take a smallish amount to blow. Very much circumstance dependant. What I wouldn't do is fritter. It could go really quickly without a plan.

Repay some of the DC savings, then the rest for a rainy day. We've had some mighty storms over the last few years, another soon wouldn't surprise me

Any time I get anything - bonus etc. I always put 50% off the mortgage.

I live in a housing association house so i wouldnt spend it on kitchens etc but i would make my garden completley safe for my disabled son and have a sensory bit in it etc i also think i would build a big shed thing and turn it into a sensory room he would love it and also a holiday dor us all.

80% of it to save/on mortgage.
20% to blow on fun stuff like clothes and holidays.

I'd blow it on getting married. Not going mad on the actual wedding but a huge big party for our eleventy million friends and relatives.

Then we'd bugger off on honeymoon somewhere lovely maybe Maui

I would probably spend a lot of time excitedly thinking this is my chance to buy a home to let 'Homes under the hammer' style, and then realise the amount wouldn't actually go that far after all those fees etc.
Following the disappointment I would likely look into buying a house in a better location. Again, following the disappointment, by this time the amount of money would be reduced as I would have probably dipped in for this n that.
Likely though I would divide it to ensure I had 2 very good holidays and reserve some for brilliant mini breaks.

This makes me wish I could give everyone £13k and fulfil all of these wishes.

Put 10k into my business to use for training and the products needed to implement the serviced in the business and possibly some as a buffer to increase my part-time employee's hours with the plan that the income will follow.

Keep 3k to spend on a holiday and other stuff for MEEEEE!

I'm now thinking I might go for some lifestyle things like hiring a personal trainer to help eliminate my spare tyre and getting a cleaner for a year so I wouldn't have to clean any bathrooms.

This may be deleted soon! The thread talking about the £13k thread was!
The original OP probably realised that it wasn't the best idea letting the world know that you found £13000 of dirty money.
