to be annoyed with the Odeon cinema

Ds2 wants to go and see Swallows and Amazons, we thought it'd be a good after school treat for next week. School finishes at 3.25pm, the film starts at 3.30pm every day next week and is not on at the weekend.

It's a 10 screen cinema and they have screens which are not showing other films until 7pm so S&A could easily start at 4pm.

The actual movie wont start until 4pm anyway.

allegretto · 03/09/2016 16:17

Have you checked what time the film actually starts? You've probably got half an hour of adverts and trailers before the film.

allsfairinlove · 03/09/2016 16:17

You still might be able to see it though as there's always 20mins of advertising before the film actually starts. Can you buy your tickets in advance and dash to the cinema as soon as school finishes?

acasualobserver · 03/09/2016 16:18

What if you miss the adverts and trailers? Would you get there on time?

Iguessyourestuckwithme · 03/09/2016 16:18

With 30 minutes of trailers I wouldn't be there before 4pm

X-post with everyone!

SvalbardianPenguin · 03/09/2016 16:42

Pushing it, we're 20 minutes away even when there isn't the after school traffic and roadworks.

Yanbu.

Odeon should ensure they have a cinema next door to your house. And your children's school. And discuss timetabling with you to ensure that you and your snowflakes can attend to see whatever they wish without any inconvenience. Bastards.

Hmm
sonlypuppyfat · 03/09/2016 16:50

I love the way women support each other

Astley · 03/09/2016 16:51

hahah do all places have to have convenient times for you, or is Odeon just he lucky one?

acasualobserver · 03/09/2016 16:52

Book on line. Put your foot down. Live dangerously. Alternatively, wait until Saturday next.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 03/09/2016 16:52

YDNBU they should have personally checked with you before scheduling movie times Hmm

SoupDragon · 03/09/2016 16:53

Odeon should ensure they have a cinema next door to your house...

Any idiot can see the OP is just annoyed that it isn't on at a later time on any day.

MrsHulk · 03/09/2016 16:54

Really weird thing to be annoyed about. They're a business and will schedule films when they think they will get the most money for them.

rosesarered9 · 03/09/2016 17:10

Simple solution:
Step 1. Book an appointment at the dentist for 3:15 ish
Step 2. Go to DS' school and show them proof (if they require it), ask if he can leave at 3:00 ish
Step 3. Cancel the appointment or reschedule
Step 4. Enjoy the film!

DesolateWaist · 03/09/2016 17:13

Yes, owning a vagina means that I must agree with and support 50% off the population.
Even if they are being ridiculous.

GladAllOver · 03/09/2016 17:13

Step 5
Tell your children it's wrong to tell lies - unless mummy does it.

PerspicaciaTick · 03/09/2016 17:28

I think it is a little shortsighted of Odeon to schedule the film so close to the end of the school day. A slightly later start would probably increase their ticket sales.
Why don't you email them and let them know what times local schools finish?

trafalgargal · 03/09/2016 19:02

Really? You considered something so minor worthy of starting a thread ?
Too funny.

Maybe next week you can post about how a traffic light turned red as you approached it.

CedricSydneySneer · 03/09/2016 19:07

Why all the nastiness?

It's a kids film, 3.30 doesn't leave much time for kids to get out of school and get to the cinema.

I agree with you op they should have put it on at 4-4.30

PassiveAgressiveQueen · 03/09/2016 19:16

I agree with the OP it is a stupid business decision, i know lets play a film when none of the target audience can make it whizzo.

Crunchymum · 03/09/2016 19:19

Maybe that Odeon is closer to some other schools?

It does seem a bit silly I agree but it's really not something I could get angry about.

Xmasbaby11 · 03/09/2016 19:20

That is poor timing, considering it's children's film. But I suppose film timings have lots of considerations and sometimes they just don't suit you.

ChocolateBudgeCake · 03/09/2016 19:22

I'm with you OP that is annoying. You are allowed to complain about annoying things you know although some people would have you believe that being annoyed about anything makes you entitled Hmm
