The hummus pizza is actually on flatbread and is very tasty (I like sainsburys for the free samples - we shop there weekly - it's next door to the aldi we also use 😃)

needastrongone · 02/09/2016 08:48

When you read what is actually in say, a ready meal (or similar), a splash of soy sauce seems the least worse option!

bearleftmonkeyright · 02/09/2016 08:48

The rice crispy goujons are nice too but I ended up covered in rice crispies. I'm a bit messy with cooking. I chuck pesto in a lot of dishes and would definitely not think twice about putting it in sausage casserole.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 02/09/2016 09:05

God they're annoying. I'll do what I like with your stupid food after I've bought it, thanks very much

I'm sorry, I haven't read the ft, but this is the most wonderfully petulant thing I have ever read on the internet Grin Wine

Ememem84 · 02/09/2016 09:12

I haven't had "humous pizza" but do like to slather humous on hot pitta and add tomatoes/courgette etc. So I guess it's the same.

Bloody delish. although I could live on humous. I use it sometimes instead of butter in sandwiches

DailyMailEthicalFail · 02/09/2016 09:14

They are all fine.
chocolate is used in Mexican savoury dishes traditionally.
curry powder with fish (kedgeree anyone) is not exactly 'new'
grilled peaches (ie on a pizza) is not 'a twist'
using coffee / balsalmic / horseradish hardly ground breaking.

whether it's your 'personal taste' or not is different.

but YY to to stupid CONDESCENDING TONE.

Bugger off Sainsburys (except for your flavour pots and kids clothes)

EveOnline2016 · 02/09/2016 09:14

I love fish curry so am going to try the fish pie one.

Ifailed · 02/09/2016 09:16

Must be a quiet day on MN, having to resort to a tedious food discussion.

"peaches on a pizza - why not just give your child a bag of sugar to eat?"

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 02/09/2016 09:16

Tbh, not liking fruit flavours in savoury dishes doesn't make you 'small town'. Fruit on pizza is a real British thing (not saying they don't have it elsewhere but Brits are addicted) and I am not keen.

A lot of their ideas seem like Delia cheats, and also kind of pointless if you are trying to eat less processed stuff. I don't really see why you'd cook a lovely casserole from scratch and then shove a lot of stuff from a jar into it.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 02/09/2016 09:17

Ha ha ifailed classic xpost!

That's it: Sainsbury's little twists are just not healthy enough for me.....

BolshierAryaStark · 02/09/2016 09:18

The peach on pizza sounds disgusting but the one that always turns my stomach is the goats cheese omelette which is odd as it's one of the less bizarre little twists...

EmzDisco · 02/09/2016 09:23

It's just to get people to spend an extra couple of quid on something new, if everyone does then KACHING

Remember this... www.theguardian.com/business/2014/sep/30/sainsburys-puts-poster-in-window-that-customers-were-never-meant-to-see-

LadyMoth · 02/09/2016 09:24

Yes exactly it's the tone – the "twists" are not exactly groundbreaking, yet at the same time not very appealing either, but I don't care if people want weird pizzas and bolognese, whatever. But don't tell me about it like it's some kind of thrilling revelation that I'd never have thought of and will transform my life! There's something so smug about it like they are thinking "Just blown your mind eh? Have to get to Sainsbo's now for some peaches and coffee granules, don't you, eh!?" Grrrrrrrr

Yes, I'd like to see your neck 'with a twist' just to give it a modern touch. That made me ROFL! :o It is partly the word "twist" that's so fucking annoying.

blowmybarnacles · 02/09/2016 09:30

I'd try any of these, no problem.
I can open a fridge or cupboard and rustle up a meal with what ever I find, its my 'thing'. Not many oars to my boat but this is very handy talent.

One of my man meals is a sausage and pesto pasta with green beans combo, sausage and pesto is a winner every time!

RunningLulu · 02/09/2016 09:36

Horseradish, mustard, or even wasabi or a bit of green chilli in white sauce is great. Gives it a nice kick. I always put spices in fish pie as my husband prefers the Indian version.

Lynnm63 · 02/09/2016 09:52

I'd just like to remind you all of the bacon on a hot cross bun little twist for Easter. Let's celebrate the crucifixion of a Jew with bacon, not to mention fucking about with bacon and hot cross buns. Dirty bastards.

ParadiseCity · 02/09/2016 09:54

PMSL @ 'Sainsburys Little Twats'

They are just some marketing person's way of increasing sales of random goods that will languish in your fridge/cupboard for ages. There is a probably a staff intranet saying 'click here to suggest a little twat' and whoever's little twat idea sells the most peaches/horseradish/random item gets a free makeover from Gok Wan.

bearleftmonkeyright · 02/09/2016 09:57

The bacon in hot cross buns was all kinds of wrong.

xmasadsboohiss · 02/09/2016 09:57

Oh dear me - I started the thread and I'm not British and I don't live in a small town, so that puts all that weird stereotyping to bed!

It was meant to be light hearted - a bit of a laugh and whatever side of the fence you're on it seems like there are strong opinions out there and it's all given me a good giggle tbh.

LetitiaCropleysRecipeBook · 02/09/2016 09:58

Their recipes remind me of Letitia and the chocolate marmite cake in Dibley.

Grin Yes, and in her honour, I've dusted off one of my old usernames!

Oblomov16 · 02/09/2016 09:58

Ha ha. Jaching'. True I can't bear to watch the adverts because they are sickly sweet and smug.

Statelychangers · 02/09/2016 09:59

Sainsbury's combos are clearly a little unusual for some
Pears & Gorgonzola on pizza is very good
Curried fish pie also lovely
Peaches in a salad, delicious
Just picked up a recipe for coffee and peach rubbed spare ribs - which I'm really looking forward to trying.

Sparkletastic · 02/09/2016 10:06

I won't allow instant coffee granules in my house.

Jellybean83 · 02/09/2016 10:12

I think I'll try the coffee in spag Bol next time I make it, I remember years and years ago when I first heard of dark chocolate in chilli I scoffed and turned my nose up at it, but of course it's the only way to make chilli and makes such a difference for the better!

I made the rice crispy chicken, was ok but I'll stick to Panko breadcrumbs, hardly new though reminds me of the Birdseye crispy chicken burgers my mum used to feed us as kids.... Dunno if you can still get them.

Cola ham is a regular meal in this house, I make a nice cola Chinese chicken meal as well.

Peach on a pizza is all kinds of wrong though!

Statelychangers · 02/09/2016 10:18

People scoffed at watermelon and feta too
