AIBU - husband comments on weight loss after birth

AIBU? I've got an 8 week old and I'm currently around a stone heavier than I was before I was pregnant (I was size 8-10 and now more like a 12 - mostly just bigger boobs and bum but definitely not back into all my normal clothes!) - my DH just showed me a picture of his friend's wife who had twins a month ago and is now back in her pre-preg skinny jeans. I feel really upset that he thinks this is reasonable, when my confidence is low... I'm not exercising much but I'm exhausted and breastfeeding constantly! He thinks I'm a cow for telling him he was being a d*ck showing me that. What do you think - AIBU?? Confused

OP posts:

He is a big twat!

I would show him this thread let him know how much of an unreasonable twat head he is being, then find yourself a much younger, fitter, generally nicer man!

pointythings · 29/08/2016 19:08

Yep, he's a dick. Totally unacceptable comparing you to another woman. You really need to tell him so firmly, OP.

VeryBitchyRestingFace · 29/08/2016 19:09

He was being pretty tactless and unkind. Flowers

Is he usually like that?

I'm assuming he is himself a lithe adonis, of course. Hmm

OhhBetty · 29/08/2016 19:12

That was a really cuntish thing to say. You wouldn't be unreasonable to tell him to find alternative accommodation for a few nights.

Trifleorbust · 29/08/2016 19:15

He wouldn't touch the ground Shock

whattodowiththepoo · 29/08/2016 19:16

Jesus Christ get a grip everyone, he was tactless and thoughtless.

MargaretCavendish · 29/08/2016 19:16

People are saying 'thoughtless' and 'tactless' but I suspect that's kind to your husband. I think his 'innocent' question about whether you were back in your jeans wasn't tactless, it was nasty.

MoreCoffeeNow · 29/08/2016 19:17

Another vote for dick.

Trifleorbust · 29/08/2016 19:18

Correct, no-one doesn't understand that this is not okay.

AcrossthePond55 · 29/08/2016 19:19

What an insensitive prick.

If it's any consolation I'm still carrying 10 lbs of baby weight. The 'baby' is 27. Grin

You just love yourself and your baby. Maybe you should find a picture of Johnny Wadd and show your DH and tell him 'when you look like that, I'll look like her'.

DecaffCoffeeAndRollupsPlease · 29/08/2016 19:20

I think his 'innocent' question about whether you were back in your jeans wasn't tactless, it was nasty.

This

GasLightShining · 29/08/2016 19:20

Just tell him that she may be in her pre-pregnancy jeans but after twins she probably has a saggy mummy tummy too

PotatoBread · 29/08/2016 19:23

I've an 8 week old DD and I'd be a bit gutted and pissed off if DP did that to me (am currently 2 1/2 stone heavier and can't seem to shift a single lb so far Sad )

LoveInTokyo · 29/08/2016 19:23

WTF. I would have decked him. YANBU.

HeathOnTheRight · 29/08/2016 19:24

He's being a knob.
I was upset that my dp made a comment when bottle refusing, nocturnal dd was 10months & I had still have a bit to go.
I'll never be back to my pre preg size because I'm a whole new shape, even if I am almost back to pre preg weight

stouensbay · 29/08/2016 19:25

I was super skinny after DS1; the reason being I had a horrendous pregnancy and couldn't keep much food down at all. So while I looked 'good' it wasn't exactly a healthy way to lose weight.

Didn't happen after Ds2.....

A personal trainer I know advises caution exercising too much post-partum, especially before those stomach muscles have knitted back together properly, you can do some serious damage.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 29/08/2016 19:25

If it makes you feel better, his friend's wife probably photo shopped the hell out of her FB photo and ripped the skinnies off after it was taken because she couldn't actually breathe. Grin

AmyC86 · 29/08/2016 19:25

What an insensitive piece of crap!

ohlittlepea · 29/08/2016 19:25

DICK. that is all :)

GingerbreadGingerbread · 29/08/2016 19:26

Wow. Just wow. He's a prize isn't he? Ignore him, what an utter misogynistic superficial berk.

coconutpie · 29/08/2016 19:26

YANBU. He's a dick. It can take months / years to get back if ever, to pre pregnancy weight.

AndYourBirdCanSing · 29/08/2016 19:27

Tell him to fuck right off! Angry

TheLaundryLady · 29/08/2016 19:29

Total dick , how nasty of him Angry

FullTimeYummy · 29/08/2016 19:29

So because DP is a man, his comment HAD to be misogynistic, nasty and superficial.

How very sexist

ToffeeForEveryone · 29/08/2016 19:29

He's brave Shock

Yes, violence would have ensued if DH did similar 8 weeks after birth. DS is 5.5 months now and I'm basically resigned that my belly will never be the same again!

He was massively insensitive, but only you know if this was stupidity or malice Flowers
