Apparently we're moving in October. I haven't even seen the house. He's BU right?!

We've done this before although I did know DH was looking at it. We were on a deadline to find a new rental before we had to leave the old. He viewed while I was at work and took it straight away. He knows what I like in a house and we needed to find somewhere. He took me and showed me the outside when I finished work but I didn't go in until we moved. Was one of my favourite houses we rented!

Its only renting - you can move if you don't like it. And at half the current price, that is quite good.

What info do you want fairenufff? That's pretty much all I know, don't know if he signed anything, maybe he had to confirm before owner put it on the market or something.

Didn't want to complain to him on the phone as he sounded so happy and excited. He'll be back at work now so can't ask him details until I get home in the evening. All I know is it'll be an old wooden detached house as all the houses are like that in the area but can vary in quality and size.

Treaclesoda You could have sold your house to me - I first saw my house the day we moved in.
I had seen photos online and the location was more important to me than the house itself. I trusted DH to not buy a house I would hate. It worked for us - I love living here!

What discussion have you had about looking for properties? Are they in short supply? Does it meet your criteria? Do you have any objection to him doing this? If so, did you voice this beforehand? Will you get a chance to look at it before you move? Have you already been given notice to leave your current property? How do you feel about it? What happens if you don't like it?

Basically, anything other than 'Apparently we're moving in October. I haven't even seen the house. He's BU right?!' because that is not enough information to be able to answer your question.

We rolled past the house in the car, rang the estate agents but couldn't get a viewing that day and as we lived so far away we would not be able to get back the following day. Things were selling like hot cakes. We rang the EA back and put in an offer. It was accepted and we moved in 4 weeks later. It was pre internet and we had rung this EA up about 20 mins earlier to see if they had anything on their books. We were only told the address.

Been here 20 years

So he has found a house. That's it?

Yabu. Me and dh have never sat down together and looked at houses. We have looked around separately, sometimes viewed alone then discussed it.

Sounds more like he has just found a house that could be suitable that will be available from October. He hasn't signed anything, you are under to obligation to move there at all.

I really can't see the fuss.

[restingbitchface] 'if we turn the post sideways will we see the witches face! :)'.

That is hilarious.

I don't get it. Is he suggesting you move to this house or telling you you're moving?

If it has a shit kitchen or is haunted then don't move in! Dealbreakers, both. Unless it is haunted by a Michelin chef.

My first thought is why is it half the rent of your current place.

Second - why on earth he didn't snap some photos.

I brought out house without dh seeing it in the flesh - but did take tons of photo's and it was online before I put offer in

He might have signed, it sounds like he has as he said the date for moving. He knows how I feel about kitchens so hopefully it isn't shit or needing renovating. I never told him I want to discuss before choosing a house because I didn't expect him to find something suddenly as rental houses are hard to come by, especially at 400 Euros a month. Expect its cheap because its old but might be cheap because its crap.

You have to turn the post at a 78 degree angle to see the witch's face, its a bit of a tricky one.

Well until you know wether he has actually signed up for it or not, I can't say wether Yabu or not.

From the sounds of it, he has found a house he thinks Is suitable, got the details including what date you could move in. But nothing is set in stone.

If he has signed up for it and it's a done deal, that you can't get out of them he is bu.

Ok I've seen pictures and it actually looks pretty good and he's taking me to see it on Monday so he's not unreasonable. Probably shouldn't try and understand things like that over the phone when I've been travelling the last two days, good thing I didn't rant at him anyway. Its got a playhouse so DD will be happy Grin

"never told him I want to discuss before choosing a house because I didn't expect him to find something suddenly..."

This is obviously a matter for discussion. As long as you are going to see it I can't see the issue, but if he has signed anything there is a massive issue.

My DH bought a house on his own, he had to make a decision very quickly as the one we were after (and both had seen and liked) fell through. It wasn't particularly to my taste but he loved it as it had a fabulous garden. We made it nice inside.

400 euros a month Shock

Report
TrinityForce · 26/08/2016 17:59

What's shocking about 400euro per month?

It sounds low to me, at this exchange rate.

Report
TrinityForce · 26/08/2016 18:00

Sorry, I just realised it's because it's really cheap.

TheBannistersOfLife · 26/08/2016 18:11

DH didn't view this house until after he'd had the offer accepted. He didn't buy it on my say so though, but that of my DM Hmm

Sounds really exciting!

(But then I've got images of 'The money Pit' and 'spiderwick chronicles' in my head)

LOL. At least it's only a rental agreement.

I'm not sure if he's proactive & fabulous or controlling & needs to be left.

Updates as you get them please so I can get off the fence 😁

I bought a house without Dh and I seeing it. On impulse. I also sold dh's house as part of the deal.

I'm not allowed to go shopping by myself anymore Grin
