To have felt a bit scared for this newborn

Was in busy supermarket this afternoon.
Lots of kids/trolleys/shelf stackers etc.
There was a couple walking about, mum with trolley & dad with the teeniest of newborns I have seen in a while, all cute and floppy. But just being held in his arms.
I saw them a few times in the space of half an hr, and everytime all I could think was don't drop him/her!

AIBU for thinking it was a bit daft of them?

Is there anywhere safer than a loving dad's arms?

My two didn't think so. If DH was there they were stretched along his arm, kind of face down. Used to puke and dribble all over him. And when they could no longer fit he had to carry them on his hip everywhere.

I used a sling/pram on occasion but they were having none of it if DH was there.

The shoulders used to worry me a bit. But of course they were fine.

I used to regularly walk home from my childrens nursery, through the woods, up a steep bank with my newborn in my arms, and a 2 and 3 year old nipping at my heels. how we didn't all die, i'm really not sure. but she was too tiny for a sling, too refluxy for a pram, and I was too fond of my other children to leave them at nursery for 6 months. so there was no real choice.

I'm bemused by these people who seem to go round supermarkets constantly being bumped into by other people. Somehow I seem to have survived a million visits to the supermarket without being bumped into once.

Strange the things people find strange.

Hi folks, can we ask everyone to stop troll-hunting please? The OP checks out, so nothing untoward here.

Judy me too, I have never experienced any of the behaviour described on MN threads about supermarkets and I've been in too many to count!

As for the OP, I am frequently surprised by the things some MNers are outraged/concerned/judgemental about but this one is truly the most ridiculous.
