To call the police?

Son went out last night said he was sleeping over at friend's house locally. Was meant to meet him this afternoon. No reply to calls or texts. Sent a text to say I was worried and was going to call police. Get a call from him from a mobile. He said he was coming home but no show. I hv texted this number and they said he had left their house but I have no idea where he is except they live far away from us.

Would the police be interested? He is 17.

I had a text conversation with the person whose phone he called from. I then texted to say he is still not back so calling the police. I received a text supposedly from my son and he would be home by 1 but still not back and now terrified that that text was not from son and that it was to stop me calling police. I have no idea where he is. He has work experience tomorrow that he has been looking forward to.

OP I would do what Rosie said and call the police. It sounds a little worrying.

Phone 101. It's probably nothing to worry about beyond teenagers being selfish knobs, but they'll have better advice.

I'd call the police.
You haven't spoken to him personally.
I don't think 17 is too old!
If this was me my parents would have called the police and been round the house already, adult or not.
He's most likely fine. Possibly he's had a few too many drinks or something so didn't want to come back in a state?
I'd still ring though.

kali110 · 22/08/2016 01:40

Cross posts.
Glad to see he's back op

Just5minswithDacre · 22/08/2016 01:43

His father??

gardenangels · 22/08/2016 01:46

Yes not impressed. He is happy to phone me to discuss the family home being sold but not about his missing son. I got more support from you guys.

MammaTJ · 22/08/2016 01:46

Glad he is back but his Father?

gardenangels · 22/08/2016 01:47

ProseccoBitch · 22/08/2016 01:52

Phew, really glad he's ok.

Just5minswithDacre · 22/08/2016 01:53

So he was with his dad? Or his dad was a separate communication you were having?

msgrinch · 22/08/2016 01:56

Why would his father get in a panic?! Your son wasn't missing he was out. Jesus Christ get a grip! He was barely gone. Unclench and back off.

FastWindow · 22/08/2016 02:02

msgrinch the son was missing for 36 hours. Either you are very lax with your 17 year olds or you have missed the point.

gardenangels · 22/08/2016 02:04

He was gone for 28 hours so why don't you back off? If you have nothing constructive to say move on.

Not with his dad. His dad does not see them more than twice a year.

Msgrinch is a good name. Never understand these nasty characters on MN

Xpost garden and i overestimated the hours. I think grinch thinks its just since last night, when in fact it is Friday.

Just5minswithDacre · 22/08/2016 02:16

Ah I see. You know not to waste texts on his dad next time then. Useless man.

Rumpelstiltskin143 · 22/08/2016 02:38

Glad he's back and safe. Dads a real pillock.

EttaJ · 22/08/2016 02:41

grinch How about YOU get a grip. He was gone a long time and it was out of character. Nothing nice to say ? Then stfu!
