Someone on a FB group wanting these. Got a mouthful of abuse for suggesting it might not be a brilliant idea to put these anywhere near a baby given the obvious naffness choking risks. Apparently they're fine because they just get clipped onto the pram hood and not the baby. Hmm

WTF is the point?!

Agree with everything worra is saying.
Im not sure when mumsnet became like this but its horrid.

Im starting to feel like I shouldn't post here because lots of posters would probably think I'm chav if they met me.

Its horrible knowing that people judge you and your friends based on fashion.

You may think I'm a chav based on fashion choices but frankly if that's your mindset then your thick. Thick as shit.

Oswin · 20/08/2016 00:16

Or even what usual is saying. Not sure what happened there Grin

AnotherPrickInTheWall · 20/08/2016 00:20

Popular in my home town, together with diamanté encrusted prams for " pink" babies.

This thread is hilarious..... But, if being judgemental over tasteless tat will become illegal on mumsnet threads I wonder what will happen post xmas!? No threads to compare the tat we got from mil?

TheRealAdaLovelace · 20/08/2016 00:37

Anyway.
Maybe the point is to stop old ladies peering in and going 'ooohh is it a boy or a girl'? So this bit of tat could be v useful.
If I had a baby now I would hang a fox tail and a rosary from its pram...Grin

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 20/08/2016 00:38

Seriously.... Brace yourselves for the whole xmas judgement..... It will be a rough ride til January ( when it's all in the sales)

ChaseAvenal · 20/08/2016 00:39

Ruby River?

I've found a new period euphemism Grin

I am more offended by some judgemental fucker using the word chavalanche than somebody blinging up their pram. I love a bit of bling; am less fond of judgemental snobs.

PersianCatLady · 20/08/2016 01:11

TBH I look at those and all I can think is what a waste of money!!

TheRealAdaLovelace · 20/08/2016 01:14

Chav is nasty it is true.
Interestingly it comes from the Romani where 'chav' or 'chavvy' just meant 'boy'.
In the Andalucian dialect of Spanish , 'chavale' also means boy.
Sadly in its new mainstream UK form it is used in a nasty dismissive way, as part of the demonisation of the working class.
Nothing wrong with a bit of bling.
I suppose those sneering only have really tasteful stuff........

oldlaundbooth · 20/08/2016 01:15

Big fat gypsy wedding.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 20/08/2016 01:17

I would buy one if it said peace and love, people

RJnomore1 · 20/08/2016 01:20

They are somewhat in the Versace style

However while I do think it still fair game to have a laugh at someone SELLING tat I think it's very poor taste to do so at someone genuinely wanting to buy something they think is nice for the baby they adore.

😕

Irelephant · 20/08/2016 01:41

Chav is a horrible word.

It's not too my taste it is however the type of thing my SIL likes.

Each too there own. Her taste might be considered "chavvy" but she's got better manners then too use demeaning words to describe other people's preferences.

Some horrid replies on here Angry

EttaJ · 20/08/2016 02:21

desolatewaist spot on. We are judged by people who are judging us for judging. Hilarious. Oh and oswin it is you're not your , seeing as you're calling people thick as shit.

ElaineVintage · 20/08/2016 02:58

Oh my lord, what a nasty looking thing. Much like the tat you get in Pandora.

SalemSaberhagen · 20/08/2016 04:07

Not really etta.

You judging the people who purchase the OP - calling people chavs and mocking children's names

Us judging you - telling you it's shitty to call people chavs and mock children's names. Not really 'judgement', is it?

Your judgement is baseless insofar as the people haven't done anything wrong except dare to like something that isn't to your taste, and are therefore fair game to be insulted.
'Ours' is a direct result of the comments made.

Or to be put it another way, you could just reduce most threads to this nonsensical way of thinking.

OP: My friend shops in Aldi for her 4DC. I think it's bad because she should get better quality food for them, she shouldn't have had that many DC if she can't feed them from Waitrose.

POSTERS: Don't judge her for shopping there or having 4 DC, that makes you a horrible person.

OP: You lot are no better. Judging me for judging her...etc

It doesn't work.

Only1scoop · 20/08/2016 04:13

Dangerous with loose sparkly bits etc

'Chavalanche' Grin

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 20/08/2016 04:25

Words like 'chavalanche' are great to come across from time to time. They're a nice, gentle reminder of how many wankers there are in the world. It's a bit like reading DM comments really. All of the "Grins" are like seeing all the green arrows on clearly bigoted comments.

Only1scoop · 20/08/2016 04:41
Grin
Oswin · 20/08/2016 08:43

I speak into my phone and it writes for me. I have limited use of my right hand and I'm not very good with my left. So when it writes your instead of you're I don't tend to correct it because my fingers can't get to the bit to delete the one word it would mean deleting the whole thing.

What other word but thick could be used for someone who judges someone and sees them as lower than them.
Ignorant maybe.
Cunts definitely.

Chav is a word used to always describe people who are generally poor or from a poor background.

Once we start to wear certain fashions it's deemed chavvy and unwearable merely because poor people wear it.

Judging people on what they wear or what fashion they follow can be nothing other than utterly stupid.
