Someone on a FB group wanting these. Got a mouthful of abuse for suggesting it might not be a brilliant idea to put these anywhere near a baby given the obvious naffness choking risks. Apparently they're fine because they just get clipped onto the pram hood and not the baby. Hmm

WTF is the point?!

Love the second one!! Hope they have it in blue!!

HeCantBeSerious · 20/08/2016 13:40

it's so unkind to link something you personally don't like to being poor.

I didn't say anything about wealth. Confused

but they're obviously meant to be kept well out reach of young children and toddlers.

In what way is it obvious? This would be pretty accessible to a child.

They aren't made to any safety standard and I'd b surprised if they're labelled to inform users not to dangle them like budgie toys on the rim of the pram hood.

Oops! Well obviously they ought to be kept out of reach of babies/toddlers reach.

TwentyCups · 20/08/2016 13:54

Well I hope you all feel good about yourselves for laughing at other peoples tastes.

meck · 20/08/2016 13:55

Though newborn wouldn't be able to reach that ignoring possibility of potentially loose, falling rhinestones

EttaJ · 20/08/2016 14:06

Chav doesn't have anything to do with wealth but it's no surprise to see the permanently offended brigade out. I know people that are very well off that have zero taste INMHO. The saying is "all brass and no class" and that's an old saying!

These awful things are in the same league as the baby headbands, sexual slogans on childrens clothes and stupid heeled baby shoes. They're just so utterly fucking naff.

Like Desolatewaist says, it cuts both ways. People take the piss out of Laura Ashley , Boden, Joules etc and "posh" names are laughed at same as the naff names, although I didn't mention names previously and didn't see any reference to names. Someone imitating an accent whether it's deemed common or posh ,is the same thing.

TwentyCups · 20/08/2016 14:13

Someone said the baby's name in the picture was a good euphemism for a period.
No matter how you look at it, that is nasty.

As a pp said, you can think the stuff is crap, but laughing someone buying it for the baby they adore is mean.

OhGoshDarnIt · 20/08/2016 14:17

Lots of this type of stuff on my local FB selling pages.

Those that just hang on the pram aren't too bad but the dummy clips with beads and stuff on seem dangerous

TwoLittleBlooms · 20/08/2016 14:25

TwentyCups, it is very mean and I have actually reported the poster - ChaseAvenal - as I think it is very uncalled for.

MyBreadIsEggy · 20/08/2016 14:26

Why? Just why?!
I will never understand this thing about making baby girls look like sugar plum fairies encased in meringue Confused
I mean, yes my Dd wore pink. But there's an acquaintance of mine who has a baby girl, no more than 3 weeks old, and she's always posting pictures of her dressed in huge dresses, with frills bigger than the baby, bows on her head that are the size of a small dog and sparkly, frilly tacky shite hanging off the pram or car seat Hmm I can't fathom why?! I'm sure the mother wouldn't want to go to bed for a nap wearing a toilet-roll dolly dress and a fascinator would she?!

MyBread, is it harming anyone (especially said baby)? No? Therefore why does it bother you how someone dresses their child? I don't dress my daughter in pink - but that doesn't mean I am going to come along and start having a go at you for your choice to dress your daughter in pink.

MoonStar07 · 20/08/2016 14:39

Chavalanche....killed me

MyBreadIsEggy · 20/08/2016 14:40

It bothers me because all I can think about when I see it is how uncomfortable that baby must be....just because the mother thinks it looks nice? Vanity is apparently more important than a tiny baby being able to sleep and feed comfortably. Hmm

TwentyCups · 20/08/2016 16:37

I'm sure if an outfit was stopping a baby from sleeping or eating properly it's mother would be the first to change them. I don't think anyone is eager to have a non sleeping baby for 'vanity'.

I think you are looking for a 'valid' reason to judge.

meck · 20/08/2016 16:52

Common sense says a babygro, or similar outfit, would be more comfortable for a baby than some frilly tulle combination complete with large head bows.

TwentyCups · 20/08/2016 16:59

Babies are famously good at making their discomfort known very loudly.
i wouldn't worry...

Newes · 20/08/2016 17:02

Now there's a pram hood Shock

Well that is rather stating the obvious. Grin Just as the babygo is going to be the more comfortable outfit choice when compared to a frilly tulle outfit complete with hair bow fascinators. Wink

I would just like to point out that I didn't think it was a real name but an unfortunate sample name someone had made to sell their product. To me it was a lighthearted dig at the word choice of someone making money out of something I find somewhat worrying to be used near to babies or children. I agree that maybe I shouldn't have commented if it could be a real name, and I apologise. I would like to point out, as I have through my own fault got lumped into the same category, that I do not support the classist comments made about this item, and I don't have a problem with it aesthetically, I am merely angered when I see people putting profit over the safety of children.

Ifeelyourpain2 · 20/08/2016 20:48

ayeokthen you have just made my day - chavalanche is hilarious! Smile
