Bad Moms- why cast Mila Kunis?

Just seen the advert for this new film, and the poster showing Mila Kunis as the lead role.

I know she's a great actress but why cast a 33 year old to be the mother of based on the preview are children who are at least 11 or 12?

All the other 'Bad Moms' are actresses in their late 30s early 40s?

I was looking forward to this film, had only read reviews of what it was going to be about but this will annoy me!

Yes the average age here might very well be 25 but in that circle (the one portrayed in the movie) that average age would be much older. That's all.

Like I said, my uncle and aunt live that life. They are twenty years older than I am. I live in the rural midwest and they live on the east coast. Their daughter and my oldest son are the same age.

Also I think a different actress would have challenged stereotypes a bit more...it's not odd to see Mila Kunis partying and banging a hot single dad because she looks young ang gorgeous etc. I think it would be interesting to see someone who looks like a late 40 something mother doing the same things, because here there seems to be a stigma attached to that.

That being said, I did enjoy the movie a lot and thought she did well, and it is nice to have a younger than average mother who did very well for herself.

Havent seen the film . I like Christina Applegate. Have done since her Married with Children days.

Looking at clips of the show as an adult though i cringe at what a misogynist Al Bundy was. Life always got the better of him though.

Do people actually go around asking the ages of all the mums in their antenatal classes or kids classes?

SomedayBaby · 25/08/2016 21:00

When i'm 33, ds1 will be 12.

21 is a youngish age to have a dc I suppose, but it's by no means uncommon or shocking.

I find it really odd why this would 'annoy' you op Hmm

No I have never asked ages, but with DS now being/entering Year 6 I have celebrated various 30ths 40ths and a 50th so know how old everyone is and the younger ones normally say something like "in x years we'll be having my 30th/40th/50th".

Just saw this film the other day and I thought MK was great!

Her character is 32 yrs old and she had her first child aged 20, got married because she was pregnant by the sounds of things...and this element lends itself to part of the plot so won't say any more!

I have a free afternoon coming up and fancy seeing this film. Looks like enjoyable trash!

When I'm 33 my dd's will be 12 and 13. And at this point i will have friends in their late 30s/early 40s. I don't get it why you're confused..

HeadfirstForHalos · 31/08/2016 16:35

I'm 36 and my eldest is 14, 2 of my 3 closest friends with children of similar ages are in their 40s, my other friend is the same age as me. We all get along well, as do our children. It's pretty normal!

I had to search this thread and post.
I just watched it and maybe the Op missed the beginning ing if the film but it seems like one of the points that keeps coming up is that she was 20, got pregnant, got married because she was pregnant, and is now 32. Voice over to begin with says 'i was twenty when I had my first child'.

Plus there is an older mum partying and having a blast - there's a range in the film.
