To get fed up with friends trying to sell me stuff

Does anybody else find it annoying to constantly be asked to body shop, party life, younique, forever living, get 20% off your shopping etc etc via private message on Facebook?
I get so fed up with it. I feel it's like somebody cold calling you about double glazing who you would normally hang up on, but you can't as it's your friend and although you don't want to hurt their feelings you don't want to buy anything either.

Yes, it's bloody rude! I have a friend selling the Forever Living things and I find it so intrusive. I've completely ignored it so far and I think she's starting to take the hint.

YANBU a 'friend' on Fb sells body shop stuff and comments on loads of my posts trying to sell me stuff. Always tagging me in things/adding me to groups etc. I just remove and detag now.

I have always had a response that I don't buy anything from friends and don't do party plan. I don't go into any further.

I've always said that I don't mix business and friendships. So I won't buy from friends and don't expect friends to buy from me.

You can disable private messages on facebook if it's getting tiresome! :)

I really hate this sort of selling

I have a friend who has started to do this kind of selling. To be fair she was fine about most of her friends just leaving the group she set up.

I find the generic statuses she puts up annoying because I know they aren't her words but it isn't too intrusive yet.

A friend of mine posted on FB a thoughtful/hopeful meme the other day - something about 'live, love, enjoy life, make the most of your talent' or some other crap..... The next day it was 'I'm so grateful for my family and friends supporting me through the trials of life, and I'm so excited to announce that my first product is life changing, just like you all have been to me over the last few years.'

What I load of rubbish.

In the last six months I've had one friend sign up to be a Younique rep, two sign up to Stella and Dot jewellery and another some other make up brand. I've been tagged in groups on fb, keep being invited to the 'parties' I hate it! I don't want to buy shitty overpriced make up and jewellery (I've never spent £25 on a mascara or £50 on a pair of silver earrings) and the constant invites just make me feel really uncomfortable. I also think it's ridiculous that the friends signing up and trying to run these 'businesses' are friends on maternity leave or SAHM, so they're asking friends in similar positions with equally lower incomes than they've ever had.

Yes, a thousand times yes. My body shop friend isn't too bad but the Kleeneze friend is a nightmare.
Arranged to meet up with her in the park. She brought some cataloges with her and was dropping heavy hints about needing another few orders to round her total up to £X amount so she could get free delivery.

It doesn't annoy me. I think good luck to my friends trying to earn themselves a bob or two. It I'm interested in what they are selling I'll look or buy, if not I ignore posts or tell thank you but not right now.

YADNBU. A friend that did one of these mentioned it a couple of times and then dropped it (and I think has stopped doing it now...guessing she wasn't pushy and annoying enough to succeed!).

My hairdresser on the other hand is like a dog with a bone. Who doesn't love to hear about the benefits of a good colon cleanse when they are getting their highlights done!?

A 'friend' keeps posting how she's giving her daughter the forever living shakes (2.5 year old) to keep up her nutrients. I have no words

I have an aunt that does this. Over the years she has done Avon, Virgin Vie, Tupperware rubbish and now runs her own workshops. Every present was something free from whatever she was selling, she expected you there at every party and now we are grown up, she invites our children to her workshops and charges them full price. She always dresses it up as a lovely invite. Needless to say we don't go anymore. Can't remember the last time she tried to spend time with anyone without making money.

Most of these are essentially pyramid schemes though and your friends will be faced with having to desperately claim they are successful in order to recruit more victims distributors to sit beneath them in the pyramid

One friend seems to have been brainwashed by the Forever Living zombie people... She was nice and normal before selling it- but now spouts endless mindless rubbish about the 'miracle' products. Endless Facebook status updates trying to push products on her friends, as well as setting up a specific selling group.

I don't mind the groups actually as easy to decline or 'hide' updates- it's the status studs that ends up on the news feed that I can't stand. Have ended up hiding her posts too. Also find its all she wants to talk about anymore. I wonder if they have to put money up and so need to sell to get it back?

Yes. My local FB baby selling group where I occasionally pick up expensive toys for a few quid is FULL of these mums posting "do you want to stay at home and earn thousands of pounds, pm me for info" and in front of my eyes people ask for info and guess what - two days later those people who commented have posted their own fucking messages saying "I've earned so much staying at home pm me for info". What? You earned so much in the 48 hours between you asking for info and then posting to give the fucking info to others? Fuck that.

Wow glue giving shakes to a 2.5 year old! Now I have heard it all.

My friend took them whilst pregnant, and I was a little unsure about that. I doubt they are fully tested for use in pregnancy, and certainly can't be for children? Amazing how people obviously believe in it all though.

Pretty sure that giving the shakes to a 2.5year old would be against the forever rules! This stuff annoys me more about it. People that sell things badly and with the wrong information.

If 'friends' start to try to flog stuff to you then I think it's ok to tell them to bog off. Although you can be more polite if you wanted.

If they are asking you to buy from them, it's because they think they can make money from you. If they are asking you to sell for them, they think you're an easy way for them to make more money from you. I have told my fL friend that I am only interested in her friendship and not her business- she's not called me in 3 months. This is a woman I saw weekly prior to FL. The company tell them to make a list of everyone they know who is a potential customer- if she's asking you, you're on a list. Sounds horribly callous and nasty doesn't it?

TBF if they were selling Tupperware I might be interested.

I don't think Tupperware does this kind of selling in the UK any more. They stopped a few years ago if i remember correctly.
