To get fed up with friends trying to sell me stuff

Does anybody else find it annoying to constantly be asked to body shop, party life, younique, forever living, get 20% off your shopping etc etc via private message on Facebook?
I get so fed up with it. I feel it's like somebody cold calling you about double glazing who you would normally hang up on, but you can't as it's your friend and although you don't want to hurt their feelings you don't want to buy anything either.

As I'm looking at this thread, I've just got yet another FB alert for 'Summer Stock Clearance' from my Younique selling pal. Urgh, it's endless.

Dogsmom · 18/08/2016 10:07

I'm torn on this one, yes they can be annoying but then there nowhere near as annoying as my cousins who live on the dole with no desire to work and are always posting photos of them sitting on their arses getting pissed.

Out of the two I'd much rather see posts from people just trying to make a bit of money.

Dogsmom · 18/08/2016 10:07

*they're not there Blush

Shoxfordian · 18/08/2016 10:09

I used to sell NYR Organic but I stopped because I didn't like the way you have to ask your friends to buy from you all the time!

ForFiveMinutes · 18/08/2016 10:12

Juice plus. I have a friend who not only sells the stuff but also likes every other post by every other JP pusher so it's constant with their jazzy little motivational memes. I'd rather eat a pice of fruit tbh than one of your little pills, and if I'm brutal I don't think it's working for you.........

Graciesmug04 · 18/08/2016 10:14

Yes omg aloe Vera will clean your oven, clean your insides, clean your dogs ears it's the wonder lotion - over hearing about it

ThisUsernameIsAvailable · 18/08/2016 10:15

I have a friend that selling juice plus, she's banging on about how good it is for weight loss etc online but I recently saw her in person and she must have gained a stone since last time I saw her Confused

fruityb · 18/08/2016 10:16

It was hearing about how juice plus tablets have helped someone with alopecia, high blood pressure and adhd. I was actually disgusted and said so on the FB page. Oddly my comment was deleted. It's the fact that they only give so much info, with holding a lot. It's utter bollocks and preys on the vulnerable quite frankly.

JustForThisTopic · 18/08/2016 10:17

I have finally found something to love about Facebook! 😁

It's taken away all the RL & text invitations out of my life, I don't 'do' Facebook so I'm blissfully invite free 😁

Cannae take these horrendous pyramid schemes going about the place at the moment. No I don't believe that selling 25 quid mascaras is actually letting anyone live the highlife or is an actual job. Not when you have to work a full time job and had to pay for the privellage of selling said mascaras. I do not believe that signing up to sell them too is going to benefit me no matter how many times you post that you are now some gold star supervisor or have lots of spare cash or can now work from home (despite the fact all of them still have jobs). I am sure it is wonderful to post that you are getting a payrise when actually you are technically self employed and still only actually make any money through commission with your sub standard over priced products. But I know a few people who fell for that crap and were actively encouraged to buy holidays on creditcards and make it look like they were living the high life through selling those 80 quid contour pallets because then they could recruit other gullible people. Same goes for shitty juice plus trends or whatever extract of hippogrif juice they are trying to sell nowadays.

Graciesmug04 · 18/08/2016 10:22

I had to sit on my hands when I read about the aloe Vera assisting with curing alopecia along with a million other uses. Saw that the other day and though no!

LunaLoveg00d · 18/08/2016 10:48

On a serious note - if you see someone making medical claims for this sort of product, saying it cures a certain illness or recommending particular products for particular conditions, you have to report them to the Advertising Standards authority as it is illegal. Screenshot and email them.

The more people who stand up against this sort of pyramid selling cult, the greater the chance of getting them banned.

glueandstick · 18/08/2016 12:04

I reported it to Facebook but they aren't interested. Along with the toddler shakes it was also try aloe instead of paracetamol. And loads of other crap.

It's so annoying. And utterly utterly wrong.

PikachuSayBoo · 18/08/2016 12:11

I de friend anyone who starts this sort of shit.

sue51 · 18/08/2016 13:17

Forever Living is evil. I was recently told by an acquaintence that their aloe vera snake oil would "cure" my daughter's EDS. I think not.

Niloufes · 18/08/2016 13:27

Yes, you are not being unreasonable. Its a like a legal version of pyramid selling. I unfollow them. If I see one more close up face plastered in badly done make up I am going to scream.

delilahbucket · 18/08/2016 13:35

I have unfriended quite a few acquaintances over this. My cousin was the worst. It started with juice plus. Kept trying with "I have this opportunity for you". He switched to ariix last year and the last I heard from him was in January with "I've got this amazing opportunity for you". I told him I was far too busy running my own (real) business and earning far more than he could ever dream of. I offered him a job with me instead and I haven't heard from him since! He's toned down the sales pitches massively now although he still does it he's also gone back to his old job which I find interesting.

This one made me Hmm

Of course it's the product and not the 5 days at the gym that's building the muscle Hmm

MrsKwazii · 18/08/2016 14:14

I had an old colleague send a friend request on FB recently - how nice, I thought and accepted. A week later, she sends me a link to her Stella and Dot FB selling page. Defriended straight away.
