Wibu to have scratched this car?

Taking dtwins out in our double stroller, cars parked right on the pavement , can't walk on the road, too much traffic. Was I unreasonable to force my pram though, scratching one of the bigger cars in the process?

OP posts:

Yes driver was inconsiderate but you are so much worse Shock

SoupDragon · 17/08/2016 17:37

Soup dragon been on mn for ages actually but got a new phone and couldn't remember my log in details. That ok with you?

No.

Lunar1 · 17/08/2016 17:38

I can't believe the amount of you condoning blocking the path of vulnerable people. Maybe they should all just stay indoors rather than inconvenience selfish drivers? Is that the MN stance?

January87 · 17/08/2016 17:38

takemetomars, you might think about not parking like a twat the next time someone keys your car so won't you?

I won't go out on the road, I pass by, if I scratch the car, so be it. I'm not doing it intentionally but if someone is parked so close that I can't get past without scratching them, that's their fault, not mine.

Vickyyyy · 17/08/2016 17:38

Its always unreasonable to purposely damage someone elses property, IMO.

Gottagetmoving · 17/08/2016 17:38

I would rather a car got scratched than a person with kids in a stroller getting killed on a busy road.
Parking on the pavement causes an obstruction to pedestrians.
In OPs position with a busy road I would push through too but try to be careful. The pavement is for pedestrians not cars.
Park on a pavement if you like but at your own risk

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 17/08/2016 17:39

Lunar no one has condoned parking on the pavement. Not one single comment.

We don't condone criminal damage. Don't twist this.

Vickyyyy · 17/08/2016 17:39

If OP doesn't mean purposely then no, it wasn't unreasonable to attempt to get through a space you should be able to get through, be blocked by some inconsiderate arsehole and accidentally scratch their car Wink

Gottagetmoving · 17/08/2016 17:41

It's always unreasonable to purposely obstruct the pavement putting pedestrians lives at risk if they have to walk on or cross a busy road to get round your car.
The damage is not done on purpose..it's a consequence of being forced to squeeze past.

Lunar1 · 17/08/2016 17:42

Can we all stand in the way blocking disabled toilets too and lifts, maybe people should just have to find a different toilet they can use if some twat wants to stand in the way? Same with baby changing areas, zebra crossings the list of ways we can all
Make things harder for vulnerable people can go on and on, as long as we don't inconvenience someone's right to park like a cunt.

YANBU. I don't park like a cunt so my car doesn't get scratched.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 17/08/2016 17:44

Lunar, this is the equivalent of punching someone stood in the way of the disabled toilet.

People shouldn't park like twats but people shouldn't be purposefully damaging their cars.

Shinyshoes2 · 17/08/2016 17:44

It's not illegal to park on pavements if there are markings to FULLY park your car or PARTIALLY park your car ie 2 wheels . There's lots of these markings on pavements where I live
Yabu and a twat . You could have gone around the car or crossed over

But that car could have been picking up a disabled person, or someone with other issues, dropping off urgent medicine. It could be someone who has time restrictions to see someone, like a carer. You don't know. Yes, probably an inconsiderate tosser but possibly not. Anyhow committed criminal damage deliberately. Hence why you are nasty.

Lunar1 · 17/08/2016 17:45

I damaged three cars in two years, instead people here thing I should have pushed dh into traffic, found an alternative rout or just waited. All for the be if it so some twat that can't park!

I'd do it again without a second thought.

Creampastry · 17/08/2016 17:45

Are you incapable of crossing a road then?

lazyarse123 · 17/08/2016 17:46

ywnbu seems to me like you didn't have a choice. Your children are more important than a car btw my kids park their cars on the pavement because there wouldn't be enough room for emergency vehicles to get through otherwise but they know it is a risk (and illegal).

Lunar1 · 17/08/2016 17:47

So now a disabled person has to wait for a traffic warden to resolve the issue, I don't think so.

ghostspirit · 17/08/2016 17:47

op i dont think you were unreasonable. they should not park like that. rather a scratched car. your/childs life is worth much more than a scratch car.

something2say · 17/08/2016 17:47

Dear lord!!! This is just meanness personified in my book.

VeryBitchyRestingFace · 17/08/2016 17:47

I don't see how the OP was worse. The driver was illegally parked. OP exercised her legal right to walk on the pavement. Had the driver not been illegally parked, the OP would not have marked his/her car by exercising her legal right to push her stroller along the pavement.

The part where you fall down, OP, is in not leaving a note. One which read, "Apologies for accidentally scratching your illegally parked car as I tried to squeeze past with my pram." (obv leave no contact details)

That way, the driver knows it was not the act of some mindless vandal, and may think twice about parking on the pavement again.

originalmavis · 17/08/2016 17:47

God help anyone who has to park badly as a result of having a puking child or puking parent on chemo.

Lunar1 · 17/08/2016 17:48

Why should I have crossed a road with no crossing or dropped curve?
