What are you lot like???

I too have a stressed teenager. Thursday and results say can't come soon enough.

toadgirl · 16/08/2016 15:15

Vanilla and Portia

Fingers crossed your teens get the results they want.

I don't remember getting stressed whatsoever about my results, but then I had no ambition and did nothing with my A-Levels anyway.

I suppose kids today are under a lot more pressure than I was then.

toadgirl · 16/08/2016 15:16

In fact, I didn't know the day the results came out Blush

I was busy enjoying being off school and one day...they just arrived...ho hum!

Naughty toad!

I'm sure you will be able to send your teens this soon:-

toadgirl · 16/08/2016 15:32

Why don't you cook him dinner, using a lot of aphrodisiac-type foods and see if that lures the poor innocent boy him into your arms?

Great idea!

Just feed the boy and let the food do the work.

Bettercallsaul1 · 16/08/2016 15:34

Oh, I'm so glad those days are over - and the University results days as well! Sooo stressful!!!

toadgirl · 16/08/2016 15:45

Better

Is your daughter at University? Have you got to get her through that stress yet?

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 16/08/2016 15:47

Until they bring out Pot Noodles in Aphrodisiac Flavour, I don't think din-dins is going to work. I want to lurrrrvvve him, not have him rushed to A&E on our first date!

Bettercallsaul1 · 16/08/2016 15:50

She finished her Masters last summer, toad. She's still considering whether or not to do a PhD. She's managed to get a super job so she's in no hurry!

VanillaSugar · 16/08/2016 15:51

Umami.

Can't stand the stuff.

Just putting that out there.

Bettercallsaul1 · 16/08/2016 15:52

It is do great to be on the other side of it - I remember well how stressful it was!

VanillaSugar · 16/08/2016 15:52

Oooh we'll done betterJunior!!!

Crikey, what a smart daughter! Have you got the grit to get her through her PhD, Better? Wink

Is this the stunningly beautiful one too?

As a toad, I'm already green, but could go greener still Grin.

Bettercallsaul1 · 16/08/2016 15:55

Thank you, Vanilla!

toadgirl · 16/08/2016 15:59

I've got to get AGL through his degree soon, so I'll need tips from those of you who have been through it yourselves/have helped your own offspring through it.

I have no experience of motherhood or university Confused. Plus, I'm a different species!!!!!!!!!

Bettercallsaul1 · 16/08/2016 16:07

I'm not sure if this different species argument really holds water, toad - are the ambitions of toadlets really all that different from Homo Sapiens? Are their lives really that divergent? I think not.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 16/08/2016 16:15

Have wasted a minute of my life trying to think up a witty pun involving cane toads/ Cambridge. It's not working (shuffles off)

toadgirl · 16/08/2016 16:15

Interesting thoughts, Better.

I'll have to give that lot a mulling Grin.

I suppose, even though I didn't pursue tertiary education myself, I have learned to fill up threads on MN so I have come a long way from the pond. I definitely want the very best future for my son, of course.

The world is so much more diverse than when I was a toadlet. There is no reason for toads not to get involved in all sorts of stuff that was once the preserve of Homo Sapiens only.

I can see I shall have to get a new mindset about this and let go of the old societal norm - whoever he was!

toadgirl · 16/08/2016 16:25

Jess

That's so frustrating, yes.

This is all I could find and it doesn't involve Cambridge.

Q: How do toads manage to lay so many eggs?
A: They sit eggsaminations!

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 16/08/2016 16:30

toad eggsellent!

toadgirl · 16/08/2016 16:34

A man in a movie theater notices what looks like a toad sitting next to him. "Are you a toad?" asked the man, surprised. "Yes." "What are you doing at the movies?" The toad replied, "Well, I liked the book."

I keep getting a little pop-up at the bottom of my screen that says 'Ways to tell your pet is human'. Suddenly seems very relevant....

toadgirl · 16/08/2016 16:43

Yes, that's spooky!

But then this is a spooky thread.....

toadgirl · 16/08/2016 16:44

I don't know how to break it to AGL but there are now 1001 posts on the Fifth Thread which has put paid to his last post status there.
