Leonard will definitely become Len or Lenny, no matter how hard you try to stick with Leo.

babajuice · 13/08/2016 13:57

Pongo
Mingus
Fellatio

Brilliant!

I used to know a Fergus who was a bit posh.

dotdotdotmustdash · 13/08/2016 14:03

I went to school in the 70s with a Gulliver and a Titus! Not even a posh school, just and inner city primary.

BlossomHillOne · 13/08/2016 14:05

I have a dog called Digby.

I rather like Bertie and Rupert.

clary · 13/08/2016 14:05

Both my DS's names are mentioned here.

We are not posh!

I would give the top poshness vote to: Jasper, Hugh/Hugo, Caspian, Jonty, Jolyon, Rupert. The Jolyon we know goes by the NN Joel FWIW.

Some of these DS2 plays/played cricket with as a PP said Grin

FithColumnist · 13/08/2016 14:14

Django isn't posh! It's Romani.

However, I recommend one of the following:

Alcibiades
Atticus
Cincinattus
Hiram
Cephas
Simeon

Marcipex · 13/08/2016 14:15

I know a Jed who is the polar opposite of posh :)

At nursery we had a Maximillian and his mother insisted it must never be shortened. They were not posh. At all.

The truly posh men I know are Harvey, Hugh, Charles, Benedict.

Foslady · 13/08/2016 14:19

Totally outs myself here but if you want something posh sounding and very different my Granddad had the biblical middle name of Parmenus (and wasn't posh at all, just very well respected and loved by all ages - I miss him)

1frenchfoodie · 13/08/2016 14:25

Interesting thread, if I wasn't on maternity leave I'm sure I could trawl our directory at work and find you a few - it is the only place I have met people called Crispin, Jolyon, St John and Giles though the latter are so plentiful
at work I can't figure out if it was a fashion I/my family misses.

Dogolphin · 13/08/2016 14:26

John
Beowulf
Bead

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest · 13/08/2016 14:29

I can't believe no-one's said Gideon!

Lockheart · 13/08/2016 14:32

No-one has said Alois yet Grin (pronounced Al - oh - eece).

It's one on my list of boys names I'd quite like to use but not sure I'd have the guts.

SvalbardianPenguin · 13/08/2016 14:35

Gideon is a terrible name, he spends too long hanging around in hotel rooms hoping for some attention.

PigletJohn · 13/08/2016 14:38

If you call him Rupert, he can never join the army.

Rastel38 · 13/08/2016 14:44

Otto Bentley - perfectly posh!

ExtraHotLatteToGo · 13/08/2016 14:44

Why give them proper pretentious names then call them things like Leo? You have to use pretentious names!

Though I hope to god you live somewhere that they won't have the piss ripped out of them at school.😖

WankersHacksandThieves · 13/08/2016 14:45
