Omg math is still here arguing with new people that this woman is right Grin
Yep math you carry on in your world and we will all carry on in reality.
It seems to math that as this was simply a greenday musical, the baby is entitled to make noise as it's already a chaos anyway, screw anyone who actually wants to enjoy it.

This has nothing to do with breastfeeding, the show was 14+. Kid was too young to be there, end of story.

mathanxiety · 30/08/2016 13:07

It is far more likely that the mother knows her baby best than that you know this woman well enough to state unequivocably that she didn't give a stuff about other theatre goers or about her baby.

That statement is born of your own personal prejudice. It could not possibly be based on personal knowledge.

I am sure you know your children better than I do. I know that I know my children better than you do.

We have a second hand, self serving claim that three people complained. Not necessarily three people who complained.

Are you referring to other threads with your ladder comment, by any chance? Not on MN surely?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 30/08/2016 14:13

But she didn't "give a stuff" about the other theatre goers did she? She turned up with baby in tow , unfortunately was allowed in , on condition the baby did not disturb other theatre goers. Which according to 3 other theatre goers, it did.

What on earth has this got to do with knowing her own baby best? Does she have super powers to predict exactly in advance when and for how long her baby will cry ?

Why are you so determined to believe the word of a woman who is stupid and selfish enough to take a baby in arms to a theatre event not intended for children and just assume she should be allowed in?

Why do you think cinemas for example hold special screenings of films where parents can take babies? And even there a crying baby has to be taken out.

It's like how you're allowed to take your baby to the cinema
I went to the cinema for the first time in years recently and TBH I had forgotten how loud they actually are.

In fact some of the sound effects were so loud that they made me jump so I am unsure of the suitability of the cinema for young babies.

Bahhhhhumbug · 30/08/2016 15:21

The comparison with taking a baby to a hot doctor's waiting room or hospital etc doesn't make sense because usually that is an essential trip. A West End show is not an essential trip.

kali110 · 30/08/2016 20:15

math your comments just get worse Grin
It wouldn't matter if it was only one person who complained, she did not think of other theatre goers, she only thought of herself.
You continue to try to make this about bf, even though the woman herself says she isn't even sure it was, rather than the fact the woman should not have took her child there in the first place.

mathanxiety · 31/08/2016 07:27

I have five children. Four of them could be taken anywhere, and one couldn't even be taken grocery shopping. The rest were fine anywhere and I could predict it.

I don't know how anyone can suggest that a mother can't reasonably anticipate her own baby's reaction. None of you knows how many other shows or concerts or cinemas this baby may have been to or how much use the baby's ear defenders may have been put to. Ear defenders bought by the mother who apparently doesn't care about her baby...

But carry on with the bile and the ''stupid'/'selfish'/'she doesn't give a stuff' comments and don't let reasonable doubt get in the way of your certainty. You do not know this mother and you don't know this baby. She otoh knows her baby. All you have on which to base your comments is prejudice.

Once again, Kali, we have only hearsay when it comes to the statement about the alleged three complaints.

Bahhhhhumbug, as stated, I have five DCs, and all of them have gone on trips to the doctor's office with me just because one of them needed to see a doctor. I had several years when all five of them used to have to go with me if one had an ear infection, etc. As babies and toddlers they used to go to pre natal appointments with me and sit in the jam packed OB waiting room where there wasn't even a TV, and women with appointments for regular checkups were constantly bumped in favour of women with bleeding, popped staples, no foetal movement, etc..

Sparklingbrook · 31/08/2016 07:31

Is this still going? Shock

elodie2000 · 31/08/2016 07:41

Math - As babies and toddlers they used to go to pre natal appointments with me and sit in the jam packed OB waiting room where there wasn't even a TV, and women with appointments for regular checkups were constantly bumped in favour of women with bleeding, popped staples, no foetal movement, etc..
You think that's a good thing?!
You were given priority for a routine appt. over a woman with no foetal movement because you had your many DC with you?
That's ridiculous. How badly did they want you out of there?

mathanxiety · 31/08/2016 07:54

What the actual heck?

Do you have a problem following written English, Elodie?

mathanxiety · 31/08/2016 08:04

Do you need an explanation?

I would sit in the waiting room, pregnant, waiting for my regularly scheduled checkup, with those children of mine who weren't in school that day.

There was a cattle call system where all appointments were scheduled on the half hour. If you wanted to get onto the list close to your appointment time you turned up at least twenty minutes early and signed in. Then you waited.

Despite the list, and rightly, women with emergencies were seen first if they had indicated their condition to the receptionist. This included walk-ins who didn't have an appointment.

Therefore we sat, and sat, and sat.
And sat some more.
Unless I had an emergency, in which case I was seen before others.
One day I had severe bleeding and cramping and didn't have to wait the usual hour and a half.

elodie2000 · 31/08/2016 08:29

Math Are you American/Australian by any chance? I'm English.
So, just to clarify, in 'actual' English, if you're bumped and you're in a queue, you go first. As in 'bumped up the queue'.

elodie2000 · 31/08/2016 08:35

Here you go Math. Turns out it's not me who finds written English a challenge.
en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/bump_up

elodie2000 · 31/08/2016 08:42

Just to add, you said women with appointments for regular checkups were constantly bumped women with bleeding, popped staples, no foetal movement, etc.. Read that back to yourself Math

mathanxiety · 31/08/2016 08:49

Well obviously you do have problems reading, because the phrase was 'bumped in favour of' and I don't know how much more clear I could have been there.

You seem to like concocting really improbable situations in your head and then running with them. Seriously, what sort of doctor's office would make bleeding women wait as you think mine must have done? Your remarks about the situation in the theatre are equally based on a really barmy understanding of situations.

I am Irish.

mathanxiety · 31/08/2016 08:51

Have you ever been bumped on a flight, Elodie?

elodie2000 · 31/08/2016 09:05

Have you ever been bumped on a flight, Elodie? No.

You might want to look up what 'in favour of' means.

So, you meant to say:

women with bleeding, popped staples, no foetal movement were constantly bumped (up the queue) in favour of women with appointments for regular checkups.

littleprincesssara · 31/08/2016 09:15

"You seem to like concocting really improbable situations in your head and then running with them."

elodie2000 · 31/08/2016 09:15

Math : Your remarks about the situation in the theatre are equally based on a really barmy understanding of situations.

Isn't that funny! I was thinking exactly the same about your 'contributions'! Grin

Bahhhhhumbug · 31/08/2016 09:33

Math I never said I doubted that you taken your DCs to doctors waiting rooms and ilk? So not sure why, in reply, you have furnished me with all the details of such trips you have made?

My point was: "The comparison with taking a baby to a hot doctor's waiting room or hospital etc doesn't make sense because usually that is an essential trip. A West End show is not an essential trip."

Bahhhhhumbug · 31/08/2016 09:34
