To not tell my son I lied to him?

And let him continue pretending to be poorly and see how far he goes?

I told him last night that he's back at school today. He has woken with a super bad fake cough, has complained about belly ache, his toe also hurts him.

I'm waiting to be told he has a broken leg Grin

How ill should I let him get before I let him know I was messing with him and he has weeks yet?

Ok so I may be projecting slightly.... as a kid there was a bit of a wierd dynamic in my family where there always had to be one person being ganged up on by everybody else - and it was usually me (being the youngest). It would get pretty nasty sometimes and I didn't grow up with much confidence as a result.

I think there's a fine line, that's all...

DerekSprechenZeDick · 11/08/2016 10:55

It's just me and my son so there is no ganging up. Just messing with each other.

You've got me worried about the lies I tell now.

Me, driving down road on a Saturday: Shall I take you to nursery today DS2?
DS2: Noooo, Mummy
Me: I could turn off just here.....

That's different though. There's knowing what your child will find amusing, or indeed another adult and doing it. Or doing something that you know may upset them and then telling them they have a problem to get over if they are upset.... Which sounds like what you endured Flowers

LittleMissUpset · 11/08/2016 10:57

Me and my kids play pranks all the time, we think it's hilarious and DS1s teacher for September has told them to watch out as she is the master of pranks Grin he loved this and can't wait to have her, which is great as he has SN and really struggles in school!

Yes you have to run with the rota and act surprised Grin

Honey my 'ego'? Where on earth did you get that from? And it was in direct referance to a statement made by Very about that thread, it was me how originally brought it up, I was simply replying. 'Sorry' if that is having an ego Confused

youarenotkiddingme · 11/08/2016 10:59

Ive stepped into a weird world where a SOH is illegal. Confused

THirdEeye · 11/08/2016 11:00

Good grief....some posters 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

So you disagree, we get it...now jog on.

HoneyDragon · 11/08/2016 11:00

it was about ego. Rather than apologise for further derailing to discuss another thread and make personal comments to another poster formed on that thread you could of just not.

Or certainly not said sorry when you clearly weren't Confused

Genuinely don't get why lying to people or seeing them have accidents is funny, but then I am a humourless knickertwister…

MrsRyanGosling15 · 11/08/2016 11:05

Honey sure I will just run all future posts through you and you can then tell me what I actually mean, since you seem to know me so well.
And very you did mention it because I replied directly to what you said.

DerekSprechenZeDick · 11/08/2016 11:08

Here's my new rota Grin

I had to nick it, take pic and put it back without him noticing. Wasn't hard, he's on his tablet Grin

It appears he wants me to lose my job as he's also changed what days I should be at work! I think he has gone too far Grin

He's outdone you Derek!

frumpet · 11/08/2016 11:11

Did chuckle when I read the thread , not a big prank fan in general if it has the potential to cause public humiliation , but a a bit of daftness within the confines of a normal loving family , can't honestly see the problem .

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 11/08/2016 11:12

Aw! Have you officially 'seen' it yet?

sklooshy · 11/08/2016 11:13

Complete child abuseHmm....

Have you ironed his uniform Grin

LaContessaDiPlump · 11/08/2016 11:13

Genuinely don't get why lying to people or seeing them have accidents is funny

I think sometimes when that's your family culture, it becomes ingrained; my Welsh family are renowned for telling long, completely untrue shaggy dog stories and you're allowed (nay, encouraged) to call BS on them. They also delight in almost-but-not-quite scaring kids with dark warnings of 'yer willy'll fall off' and other such delights Grin I kind of like it when my DSs are involved in such interactions because you can almost see the cogs whirring in their heads as they try to work it out; it is awesome when they do and makes me feel like we're all part of the same tribe, as it were.

Anyway, different strokes for different tribes. Or something.

DerekSprechenZeDick · 11/08/2016 11:14

Not officially seen it yet. He's asked me to get him a drink of milk.

The kid doesn't drink milk so think it's a ploy to get me to the fridge

toadgirl · 11/08/2016 11:14

My family used to do that trick where they pretend they've pulled off your nose, but it's their thumb iyswim. It always caused a laugh.
