Fund raising fair billed as fun day and Cruise, (reservoir) requesting stall holders, featuring model/stripper

Saw a request from organisers of a money raising day for local charity, requesting stall holders, having mentioned a bouncy castle and other interests for children being present, it features amongst it's attractions, a named woman who will pose with cars and motorbikes, who happens to be a model and stripper, according to her FB link, and to think this isn't appropriate for a family fund raising day...
I don't really care if I'm not broadminded on this subject, but am I wrong to think this is just so wrong?
(Checked her FB listing, lovely shot of her bottom and description as model and stripper..)

It really wouldn't bother me, providing she was wearing clothes on the day. I don't understand why it would Confused

MilesHuntsWig · 03/08/2016 10:37

It's a bit odd and I wouldn't be comfortable with women being objectified at a family fun day tbh.

I feel extremely uncomfortable when I go to tech conferences and stalls have women dressed scantily for no reason other than to attract pervy men over.

Would you be ok with a woman posing with cars and bikes if she wasn't a stripper?

AnyFucker · 03/08/2016 10:53

Is it the fact she is a stripper during other jobs or the general objectification of women you have a problem with ?

Why did you research her background, BTW ?

OnionKnight · 03/08/2016 10:57

How is it any of your business and why does it matter what she does in her own time?

HoneyDragon · 03/08/2016 11:00

I've worked at car shows at family events. They've quite often had pole dancers there in the evening who work as models to pose with the cars during the day.

Didn't notice scores of traumatised children Confused

RebeccaRochester · 03/08/2016 11:11

How is it my business? They are advertising for stall holders, and I was planning on applying...from further posts it appears she won't be wearing much...that's why it's my business. Stall holders oftern take family along too, to this type of event..
Plus I don't think it's acceptable on a family day, for a well known charity..

OP posts:
RebeccaRochester · 03/08/2016 11:12

And no, I wouldn't care to see a half dressed woman posing with cars and bikes....

OP posts:
RebeccaRochester · 03/08/2016 11:13

To answer the other question, I wondered why they named a woman I'd never heard of as appearing, and put her link on the entry...I didn't exactly research her background....

davos · 03/08/2016 11:13

But you aren't obliged to be a stall holder there. If there is something you disagree with don't attended. Or, if you really feel the need, email them and tell them why.

Again, what is you objection ?

BolshierAryaStark · 03/08/2016 11:27

So again is it the fact a woman is being objectified that you disagree with?
I fucking hate this shit Hmm

PippaFawcett · 03/08/2016 11:36

YANBU. I would hate this too - very retrograde and not suitable for a family event.

NeedAnotherGlass · 03/08/2016 11:56

It's irrelevant that she is a stripper.
It's not appropriate for a woman to be objectified at a family fun day

AnyFucker · 03/08/2016 12:16

NAG has it.

You didn't need to look her up even if her details were provided. I am not getting the feeling your objections are all that pure. Perhaps I am wrong ?

littleprincesssara · 03/08/2016 12:26

YANBU, it's inappropriate to hire a stripper for a family event.

Cheerybigbottom · 03/08/2016 12:30

That's really not appropriate for a family fun day. I went to one once where a charity minded biker group was selling photos of kids on top of fab trikes and things, surely that's more fun.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 03/08/2016 12:32

Yanbu. But, as always, it will be argued that this individual's right to make money by selling her body trumps the rights/feelings of other women who are dog tired of the fetishisation of boobs and bums for male pleasure.

Ailicece · 03/08/2016 12:36

As long as she isn't actually stripping it wouldn't particularly bother me, but I agree that it seems a bit strange for a "family fun" event.

Am I the only one who can't make sense of the title of this thread? Where do the Cruise and reservoir come in? Just wondering if I'm missing something!

bibbitybobbityyhat · 03/08/2016 12:37

Davos, are you not very well educated? Why can't you understand op's objection, do you need it spoon fed to you? Or perhaps you think it is clever to be deliberately obtuse.

AnyFucker · 03/08/2016 12:44

I am still confused whether op's objection is the actual event of draping a scantily (but clothed) woman over bikes/cars or it's a personal distaste of the woman herself because she also does stripping

DerelictMyBalls · 03/08/2016 12:50

LOL @ 'named woman'.

bitemyshinymetalass · 03/08/2016 12:58

I don't really care if I'm not broadminded on this subject, but am I wrong to think this is just so wrong

Fairly obvious you have no intention if being told yabu, your opinion is set no matter what anyone will say here.

Who is it?

RebeccaRochester · 03/08/2016 17:39

Still can't see how it's reasonable to have a model in whatever out fit she chooses to wear..(who knows what it might be) draping herself over cars for photographs at a family event.

The event is billed as a charity fund raiser and reservoir cruise...the request is for stall holders/crafts people to attend, it is billed as a family event.
When you book these kind of events, you always want to know who else is attending, so you know what to expect...of course you read all the posts, it's a FB event in a particular Stall Holder request group !!...so of course everyone checks all the details...costs, times, what's included...you are there all day, you need to check the facilities, and if it will attract customers. This event is being held in aid of a well known charity, it is including child themed attractions, including stalls selling toys, and sand art, and next to them, a lady billing her self as model and stripper...whose link shows her in stripper type clothes I guess....Not sure how that will go down next to the Sand Art...and that is my point...I won't be attending this one, obviously, and some mums on mumsnet must think it's quite reasonable, but I'm pleased I'm not one of them, and yes some people are being deliberatly obtuse.....models/ strippers and children ??? There are obviously some odder people on here, who think that would be just fine..Wine Wine Wine

bitemyshinymetalass · 03/08/2016 17:40

I think you've had enough wine, thats a pretty confused post there.
