Fund raising fair billed as fun day and Cruise, (reservoir) requesting stall holders, featuring model/stripper

Saw a request from organisers of a money raising day for local charity, requesting stall holders, having mentioned a bouncy castle and other interests for children being present, it features amongst it's attractions, a named woman who will pose with cars and motorbikes, who happens to be a model and stripper, according to her FB link, and to think this isn't appropriate for a family fund raising day...
I don't really care if I'm not broadminded on this subject, but am I wrong to think this is just so wrong?
(Checked her FB listing, lovely shot of her bottom and description as model and stripper..)

...and really......they have named the woman in the event page...but I'm not going to spread her name all over here, that's totally unfair and not relevant...she can do what ever job she likes, I just don't think it's appropriate at a family event.....

She won't be stripping at the event though will she?

bitemyshinymetalass · 03/08/2016 17:45

She can do whatever she wants except you think she should stay away from family events....do you think they are going to catch the stripping bug or something?

AnyFucker · 03/08/2016 17:47

we didn't ask you to name her

I think you would love to though

How is it an attraction for mum and kids - maybe dad and teenage boys - but apart from that how is it for all the family for a woman to be posing with machines?

HoneyDragon · 03/08/2016 18:40

Yes, but are they their in capacity as a stripper?

I should imagine if Dita Von Teese was opening your local gardening centre she'd be enough of a celeb to get folk to come along and want a photo.

MrsTerryPratchett · 03/08/2016 18:52

Couldn't care less if they hire someone who strips. To make balloon animals or run the tombola. Do care if they hire a women (regardless of her day job) to stand next to machines and be objectified. And no, it's not appropriate as a message to my DD.

But presumably her being a model/stripper is why she was hired to stand next to things.

I think this thread is a good illustration about how it is possible to hate the existence of something (stripping) but not blame the individuals concerned

op, you look like a big fat fail on that score

MrsTerryPratchett · 03/08/2016 19:11

It really is AF. I have worked with lots of sex workers, women who've done porn, dominatrixes (dominatraces?) and don't blame them for the system any more than I blame fruit pickers for Monsanto.

AnyFucker · 03/08/2016 19:25

because, ya know, whenever there is a discussion about sex work on here those that have objections to it are accused of hatin' on the women that do it

and yet here we have an illustration of something else

HoneyDragon · 03/08/2016 19:33

People are a bit funny at these car things.... Last one I worked at I was asked to pose with one the cars by the owner.

I'd been asked as I am oft, to put on the organisers T-Shirt, and as was classic cars my hair was all pin up style.

I looked pretty cute, vintage hair, short shorts, the right t-shorts, even if I wasn't one of the pin up girls...

Oh and I was rocking a considerablynsubstanial baby bump Grin
