Non judgey.

Ours is simply cost - we have twins and can't afford it .

MUST NOT ENGAGE WITH ANTI VAXXER

ninenicknames · 02/08/2016 21:10

Because vaccines are all the biggest medical scam of the last century. The pharmaceutical industry is a MONEY MAKING BUSINESS and there ain't no money to be made from healthy people. Do I trust the government? I most certainly do not. I most certainly do not trust the vaccines or the biased research that supposedly backs them up or the pseudo 'science' behind how they are supposed to work

Blimey - clearly hasn't don't research, how do you think disease is eradicated?!?

SueTrinder · 02/08/2016 21:11

Dreamcloud99 vaccines contain aluminium which acts as an adjuvant. Adjuvants ensure the vaccine stimulates the immune system sufficiently. More info here.

As far as E. coli goes, the vaccine contains a combination of four proteins, those proteins will have likely been made in E. coli (as are lots of pharmaceuticals like insulin or EPO). However all medicines made in this way are tested to show there's no E. coli (or indeed any other bugs) at the end of the manufacturing of the drug substance. I work in the industry, these kind of drugs have lots of different tests to show they are safe.

Dontyoulovecalpol · 02/08/2016 21:11

Expense vs risk. We could afford it but I don't want to spend that much on something so unlikely to happen

ninenicknames · 02/08/2016 21:12

Hear hear. DO NOT ENGAGE WITH ANTI VAXXER

Hadenoughoftumble · 02/08/2016 21:12

Thebreastmilksonme how dare you call someone 'brainwashed' for vaccinating their child? Please take your vile poisonous comments elsewhere.

If you knew a small child that had died from measles because he wasn't vaccinated then you might feel very differently. You are just lucky that your unvaccinated child will probably be safe through herd immunity.

vintagesewingmachine · 02/08/2016 21:12

God Almighty. Are you the same type of person who relies on " Herd Immunity" and then wrings your hands when your children are critically ill with measles/meningitis/influenza? Clearly the quality of your "research" is pretty poor as there is ample evidence of exactly how and why vaccines work. Not vaccinating your children is totally socially and morally bankrupt.

BagPusscatnip · 02/08/2016 21:14

Breastmilk I doubt anyone really gives a shit what you decide to do with you own children, just don't bring them out in civilised society.

PinkFlufff · 02/08/2016 21:15

My 8 week old had this today as part of her routine vaccinations provided by the NHS. I was bordering on anti vax when I got the letter through ("no one's putting poison in my PFB"...etc) and as a consequence I did SO SO much reading and research and can honestly say that anti vaxxers now terrify me, they are dangerous idiots. So far she's been fine and I'd rather a few minor side effects than her dying of meningitis.

KatharinaRosalie · 02/08/2016 21:16

The pharmaceutical industry is a MONEY MAKING BUSINESS - um, of course it is. Just like every other industry. I haven't heard Novartis claiming they are a charity. Just curious, how many of the websites where you did your 'research' were also selling you products to 'detox you from vaccines' or 'naturally strengthen your immune system'?

Oly5 · 02/08/2016 21:20

I've paid for my eldest to be vaccinated and know I'm lucky to be able to afford it.
My youngest was done on the NHS.
Meningitis scares the hell out of me because, although rare, it can be very hard to detect until in its final stages.
For me it's a no-brainer. I have a medical background, the science is thorough.
And the poster who thinks vaccines are just a money-making scam has got to be joking.
Vaccines save lives: fact.

ZylaB · 02/08/2016 21:21

monkendrunky where did you get it done? The boots around here all state over 2 and my dd is 17 months..

Benedikte2 · 02/08/2016 21:21

Don't wish to be alarmist but one can contract it at any age. Little children are at greatest risk but in NZ in the past university students have died from it. The sharing of drink bottles is discouraged almost school kids and students because this is believed to spread the disease.
Court has just agreed that a preventative pill ought to be provided free to those at risk of contracting HIV and that's something like £3 or 400 a month and reckoned to save money in the long run. So surely this vaccine ought to be provided to children? One child who is left severely damaged and needing care 24/7 for life costs a fortune besides the hardship caused to child and family.

ZylaB · 02/08/2016 21:22

Sorry, i meant was it a chain of companies?

EdmundCleverClogs · 02/08/2016 21:24

TheBreastmilksOnMe, I have seen the cost of an unvaccinated child becoming ill. People like you always think it's a myth, or that enough of the 'sheeple' get their children vaccinated to protect yours. The cost of being wrong, if your child gets ill with an easily preventable disease, is imeasurable. I truly hope your stupidity and ignorance doesn't cost them.

I was lucky my child fell into the new Men vaccine rollout. I would have saved to have it done otherwise. I believe every child should have it though, meningitis is awful.

Itscurtainsforyou · 02/08/2016 21:26

My LO had the first one at 8 weeks and reacted so badly to it that it nearly killed him (not an exaggeration). We opted out of the second dose at 16 weeks.

Dontyoulovecalpol · 02/08/2016 21:26

One thing I don understand about it is why is everyone doing it all of a sudden? It's been available privately for quite some time and you never heard of anyone buying it. All of a sudden there are all these FB chain updates about MenB and everyone wants it

SlinkyB · 02/08/2016 21:28

MUST NOT ENGAGE WITH ANTI-VAXXER - this x 100. Angry

I'm not getting my two done due to cost, too. I've had bacterial meningitis (almost died) so I'm nervous, but super vigilant and over-cautious/paranoid.

sohackedoff · 02/08/2016 21:30

Vaccines are totally safe. That's why the Government will pay upto £120,000 if your child suffers damage as a result of vaccination. Totally safe ...

SlinkyB · 02/08/2016 21:32

dontyoulovecalpol because there was a national shortage, but now supplies are back in and places like Boots can start offering it again. A lot of people were also waiting to see if the Meningitis Now campaign was successful in getting the government/NHS to agree to funding the vaccination for all children, before paying privately.

RainyDayBear · 02/08/2016 21:33

If there's no money to be made from healthy people, why vaccinate and prevent millions from contracting preventable diseases? As a biology teacher I would love to hear your pseudo science (it'll give top set year ten a giggle at least!).

I vaccinate DD against everything. She was born after the cut off so fortunately had it at 8 and 16 weeks, but we were planning to have it done - would have asked our parents to chip in if need be. Meningitis scares me, and my children can have every vaccine going as far as I'm concerned.

Dontyoulovecalpol · 02/08/2016 21:34

But the national shortage was caused by everyone deciding they wanted it suddenly, that's what i mean. No one vaccinated their children against MenB say 3 years ago?

KatharinaRosalie · 02/08/2016 21:41

it's only been licensed in Europe for 2.5 years.

Dontyoulovecalpol · 02/08/2016 21:43

Ok 2 years ago then
