My dc think I am. They won't even sit in the room when it's on. They say urgh mum you and your bad TV shows and bugger off to their bedrooms. They hate everybody loves Raymond as well.

I'm getting my coffee and croissants ready for my favourite hour in the morning. Grin I love working term time and having enough mornings to waste watching crap TV.

I love Frasier - watched the entire thing while pregnant with DD1, and again while breastfeeding her. Sadly she's not into it now she's a toddler, so feeding DD2 has been much less giggly.

Niles and Frasier are just fabulous together, the way they snipe at each other is wonderful.

I love the one with Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor from Terminator) - she leaves messages on Frasier's answerphone by accident, he goes to meet her (and her cello) at the airport.

Oh oh, and the French deli!
Daphne: Those prices are daylight robbery!
Robert (deli owner, heavy French accent): Robber! No-one calls me robber!
Deli minion, off-screen: Robert?!
Robert: Not now!

Grin

Pretty much any Niles scene, too, I love him.

Absolutely agree that Kelsey Grammer ought to be exactly like Frasier, it is very confusing that he is not. All the others are godparents of each other's children and good friends, I believe. I get the impression that Kelsey Grammer is difficult to get along with (and perhaps you wouldn't want to anyway).

Love it. Innkeepers episodes in particular or the cabin episodes with all the dreams. Or the adventures of dirty girl.

J0kersSmile · 05/08/2016 16:02

I really like the episode when Sam comes to stay and fraiser has slept with his fiance.

Also the one when he goes on holiday and llith is in the cabin next to them and he breaks the bed pretending to have sex.

Idliketobeabutterfly · 05/08/2016 16:07

Everyone slept with that fiancée

OwlinaTree · 06/08/2016 07:33

Ha, I forgot about the radio theme tune and the radio play ones!

Remember the one where the man in the focus group doesn't like him, so he ends up burning his newspaper stand down? And the one when Niles moves into the Shangri-la when he's getting divorced?

Piratepete1 · 06/08/2016 07:39

We have cats called Daphne and Niles. 4 generations of our family love it.

Piratepete1 · 06/08/2016 07:41

I always think of the one where Fraiser is charged extra for going 5 mins over time in the car park so he sits at the barrier for an extra 55 mins to get his money's worth. He then argues with Niles who is petrified of the road rage going on behind him and ends up going over my 5 mins again! So he drives through and takes the barrier off. I'd love to do that when pissed off in a car park Grin

Love Frasier but one thing that did always bug me about it is that we never got to see Maris. It's a bit like Howard's mom in The Big Bang, these women are too grotesque to be seen? Or something? I know it's a comedy device but can't recall it's ever been used about a man...?

Wasn't there an 80s/90s British sitcom where there were a group of women who all lusted after a particular guy who was supposed to be incredibly good looking, and we never saw his face?

I can't remember any other details or the name of the sitcom, that is going to drive me crazy now! Ring any bells with anyone?

liptolinford · 06/08/2016 08:48

'Love Soup' maybe, mixety?

dementedma · 06/08/2016 08:49

Another big fan here. Have seen them all so many times. Best episodes are Travels with Martin( the Winnebago one), Moon dance ( the rehearsal seen is priceless), A Mid-Winter Dream one( my Glockenspiel has sprung into life), Ham Radio - adore Gill romping in the fens and spinneys...too many to mention really. Truly brilliant series.

ipswichwitch · 06/08/2016 09:08

My DC think I've lost the plot I've been cackling away at Niles setting his trousers on fire!
I love the ski lodge one.. "I'm not gay Guy!" Priceless

BeyondBeyondBeyondBeyondBeyond · 06/08/2016 09:22

Love Fraser. I can't think of one other sitcom that has aged as well?

therootoftheroot · 06/08/2016 09:38

the valentines one where niles sets fire to the sofa is my absolute favourite-just for that section. it make me HOWL with laughter!

but generally-it's all brilliant!

Smurfnoff · 06/08/2016 09:38

I think it's aged so well because the main characters were out of step with 'the moment' anyway. Frasier and Niles always wore suits, which look pretty much timeless, and were never into cultural fads. Contrast that with Friends, which looks like a 90s tribute show now.

princeismagic · 06/08/2016 10:12

I love Frasier! It's ageless and always reminds me of being on maternity leave. Someone up thread was asking about the theme song. I read an interview with the composer and it's meant to be a jazz take on his radio show job - the 'tossed salads and scrambled eggs' are references to his callers and their mixed up lives.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 06/08/2016 10:22

I used to love watching Fraiser on a Friday night with my DDad - it was "our' thing - watching Friends earlier in the evening was a whole family thing, but Fraiser was definitely ours!

The episode with the bird on Niles' head is my most favourite. I howl every time I watch it.

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 06/08/2016 10:32

smurf I've only ever seen bits and pieces of Friends so don't know how well that holds up, but there is probably something in that. I remember seeing an interview with the writers of Dad's Army and they said they'd set it in the past, so it wouldn't be seen as of its era. The writers of Frasier, either by accident or design managed to avoid contemporary cultural references and 90s fashion and in so doing avoided it being 'Of its era' as Friends very much is.

Also Frasier draws on that timeless sitcom setup. Eternally thwarted pompous yet vulnerable main character, trapped in a relationship of mutual dependence with others (his father and brother). It is there in Steptoe and Son too, which I consider to be the finest sitcom of all time.

flumpybear · 06/08/2016 10:36

I never watch fraiser til a few years ago then I got hooked for months. It's funny and also he says things sometimes which make me
Feel some
Strength lol ... Like a real psychiatrist!!!

Funniest episode for me was the one at
Thi ski lodge where everyone was running in and out of each others rooms because they were all interested in each other's partners ... I was literally hooting at that one lol

Tezza1 · 06/08/2016 10:44

I actually had to buy all eleven series on DVD because I had to watch it without ads. I did hold off buying the last series because it was generally weak, but then had to have it because of the episode with Patrick Stewart dating Frasier. I recently ruined the disc with Derek Jacobi in "The Show Must Go Off' but now, thankfully, I can buy single episodes fro iTunes.
Sadly, at one stage my life was ruled by quotes from "Frasier" and i knew most episodes by their title.
However, I hate any episodes with Mrs Moon in it. Just can't abide her.
