Yeah, I think we all know now, but is there like a 1% chance any form of ticket looks like this!?!?

This is basically a follow on too

So what are you going to do op? And what's the back of the ticket like? I'm intrigued.

SheHasAWildHeart · 01/08/2016 22:29

Ok must have missed that. Anyway OP all this could be solved in a few ways:

  • you confront CM and are satisfied with her response, so all is ok
  • you confront CM and you still don't believe what she says, then it's up to you to decide what you do next.
Nothing to be done until you've spoken to CM.
Kanga59 · 01/08/2016 22:29

Don't forget that paypal screen shot op. shut all the troll sayers up...

WellErrr · 01/08/2016 22:30

I'm well behind.

user1469643462 · 01/08/2016 22:30

Well, Mumsnet can keep digging and digging... And do even more digging, but I'm not sure what they'll find... I don't know, I'll phone her tomorrow, the back is just plain.

I'm sorry but this is absolutely not true. IP addresses are assigned by your internet service provider (ISP). They are not linked physically to your computer in any way. Every computer on your home LAN will have the same public IP address. This may change at times, as ISPs generally assign IP addresses in dynamic ranges rather than giving each customer their very own fixed unchanging address. So technically, banning a PBP permanently is pretty difficult.

Correct

You can also use a vpn to hide your isp

This is what I was lead to believe by my ISP where I used to live. It's location based, through the ISP.

Sammysquiz · 01/08/2016 22:32

What would Ofsted do if you reported it to them? Is this the kind of thing she would lose her job over, or would she get a fine?

cakefate · 01/08/2016 22:32

IP addresses definitely do change

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 01/08/2016 22:33

Yeah that IP address info about it staying the same is not true at all - I think the poster might be thinking about MAC addresses, which do stay the same.

Plenty of ways to spot a PBP though.

overwhelmed34 · 01/08/2016 22:33

Well one thing's for sure, mnetters en masse in real life are brilliant!
Hilarity aside, op what if she is scamming others in a similar way? Definitely report her, it all seems very dodgy...

Have been laughing like anything at the comments on the FB page. Stop...all of you, I need to get DS o bed.

Pigeonpost · 01/08/2016 22:36

When are you going to tell CM that DS isn't going back to her?

PacificDogwod · 01/08/2016 22:36

OMG, I cannot believe how this has taken off! Shock

Ofsted cannot 'fire' a CM, they are self-employed.
I don't know what might happen to her registration if it turns out that user's suspicious are well-founded.
How v stressful for you - I hope your friendly chat will have a satisfying and convincing outcome.

The ticket, for the record, is a fake, natch.

Storminateapot · 01/08/2016 22:37

In all seriousness though, this CM is not a fit person to be caring for children if she has such a flimsy grasp on the truth.

StrawberryLeaf · 01/08/2016 22:38

BrewCake

Citruslemon · 01/08/2016 22:38

I called Ofsted about safeguarding issues at DD school and they weren't interested (didn't even ask what happened) and instead told me to contact DfE.

PetrovaFossil1 · 01/08/2016 22:38

I'm so enthralled

CatNip2 · 01/08/2016 22:39

My bed time, catching up tomorrow, good luck OP, sorry for your trouble.

Champagneformyrealfriends · 01/08/2016 22:39

Citrus I read that as they told you to contact the DofE Grin I thought, "wtf has it got to do with him?!"

InkyPinkyPonkyPoo · 01/08/2016 22:40

Wow Shock

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 01/08/2016 22:40

Ofsted couldn't fire her, but could evaluate and eventually remove her registration if they felt her behaviour warranted it. They might, if the childminder has been lying about where her mindees are. There's a lot of risk there, and it's possible she's also been misrepresenting activities etc. Violating trust is a big problem for a childminder.

I'm not sure how likely it would be that they'd take action, though. I imagine they'd investigate at least, if a complaint was made to them.
