To have thought this was really inappropriate? WIBU to have shouted at woman in the supermarket?

I was doing some gardening today and so obviously had on old clothes. I was wearing black leggings with a bleach stain on the back of them; not a massive stain.

At around 3:30 I realised I needed to get some bits from the supermarket so shot there quickly.

As I was queueing to pay I felt someone GRAB me just below my bottom. I was obviously really startled and turned around in shock and this woman repeatedly slapped at me and I leaped away in alarm, with a Shock look and she said "oh, you have got something on your trousers" Hmm

AIBU to think that she was completely, utterly inappropriate? I'm still quite angry to be honest.

What on earth was she doing? I'd have gone nuts.

RJnomore1 · 31/07/2016 20:54

Did she perhaps think it was an insect?

justdontevenfuckingstart · 31/07/2016 20:55

Well did she grab you or slap you? and if you had turned around what did she then start slapping?
NBU tho I wouldn't like that.

justnotaballetmum · 31/07/2016 20:59

She sort of swatted at me - not exactly a slap but not exactly a grab. If I was in front of you I could demonstrate Grin but I can't explain it too well. It really made me feel angry - you just don't touch people like that!

She wanted to feel your arse.

Easy.

aginghippy · 31/07/2016 21:01

If this had been a man doing it, all the posters so far would have been shouting sexual assault.

I'm not even sure that it wasn't.

justnotaballetmum · 31/07/2016 21:14

I went a bit shrill and screeched "DON'T touch me!" Blush after some stammered "what are you - excuse - EXCUSE me!"

I wouldn't say sexual assault but it did feel like a violation to be honest.

Yes, it was but nothing surprises me about people in supermarkets at all. I work in one and honestly have seen it all.

Some people just can't help themselves..

It's like when you see a label poking out of someone's t-shirt.

I'm not excusing the behaviour. It was completely unreasonable to touch you when you could have just pointed it out but maybe she had the imp of perverse moment?

justnotaballetmum · 31/07/2016 21:25

Ooh don't get me started on label tuckers!

MammaTJ · 31/07/2016 21:26

What is wrong with a tap on the shoulder and an excuse me, before passing on relevant information?

I did this with a lady at the school sports day, tapped her on the shoulder, told her she had a spider on her back and I would remove it, then removed it!

Sexual assault?!? You don't think you've gone a tad too far there?

No she shouldn't have done that but she was also probably really trying to help not realising it was a stain rather than a thing on your leggings.

I

justnotaballetmum · 31/07/2016 21:39

It might not have been sexual assault but it wasn't just "oh whoops, mistake!" either. I did feel a bit violated.

Well, if she was a woman attracted to women then yes there would be a sexual element sexual assault isn't the exclusive province of men on women, and can even be woman on man on occasion. Creepy and weird regardless

justnotaballetmum · 01/08/2016 09:05

I don't think there was a sexual aspect but I was surprised at how unpleasant it felt to be grabbed without my knowledge or consent. Strange, really :)

ReginaBlitz · 01/08/2016 09:17

Sorry but this is so funny! Sexual assault GrinI would have laughed tbh. That will teach you to go out in dirty clothes.

justnotaballetmum · 01/08/2016 09:19

They weren't dirty, just a small bleach stain on the back :) and why does having a small stain make it okay for someone to grab my arse Shock

OP posts:
ReginaBlitz · 01/08/2016 09:52

She thought you had some weird kind of bleach stain looking bug on your arse, she thought she was doing you s favour.

ExtraHotLatteToGo · 01/08/2016 09:55

It's not assault, sexual or otherwise.

It was simply someone TRYNG to be helpful and seriously missing the mark. She's probably got 10 kids and didn't even think first.

'WTAF - you REALLY cannot do that to people!'

Then really, just forget about it, it's not worth a second thought.
