I love my slow cooker when I first got it made stews as I hadn't a clue what else I could make however since then I found out you can make loads

Most people either don't no how to use it or don't really know what you can make

I have make fudge in mine

Chicken wrapped in backed stuffed with cream cheese on a bed of leeks

Also make cakes in mine often it's so moist

Roussette

I feel your pain - I loved my old ceramic pot, and it was slower. Like you I now have 2 different sizes.

Roussette · 30/07/2016 09:35

sashh I think I don't need a slow cooker. I need a "so slow it's barely on cooker". Grin

TitaniasTits · 30/07/2016 09:46

They're good for mulled wine at Christmas. You can keep a big pot of it warm all day.

CodyKing · 30/07/2016 09:54

Any advice for vegetarians? We find most recipes are great and need 4-6 hours cooking. When we're out of the house from 8-6 dinner is generally ruined. What are we doing wrong?

But a timer plug so it comes on at 2pm - sorted

MilesHuntsWig · 30/07/2016 10:46

Careful Roussette we're going to make a habit of agreeing with each other Wink.

I had one like that too and I feel your pain, even on slow mine seems to cook faster than I'd expect!

MilesHuntsWig · 30/07/2016 10:47

Yes CodyKing that's what we do too.

Liiinoo · 30/07/2016 10:51

I gave mine away. As a PP said everything just tastes like stew and it's just as easy to do it on the stove top.

Cutecat78 · 30/07/2016 10:52

YES! Everything I cook innit tastes the same - how do I change that (HRWT) Confused

Cutecat78 · 30/07/2016 10:53

*in it Blush

Roussette · 30/07/2016 11:21

Miles oh yes Grin

OK, in honour of this thread, I'm in most of the day and have gone and set my SC going with a slow cooker chilli recipe, I live in hope!

Mrstumbletap · 31/07/2016 12:51

This thread made me paranoid all day when I was out that my slow cooker was going to catch fire with my BBQ pulled pork in it! It was really yummy though and I will definitely be making it again.

Trills · 31/07/2016 13:06

This thread may have influenced my decision to pick up some beef from the discounted section of the supermarket yesterday. Now making chilli (the chunky stew-like kind - I've never had luck making things with mince in my slow cooker).

KittyKrap · 31/07/2016 13:17

The slow cooker group on FB is hilarious for all the wrong reasons.

Huge argument today about cooking a frozen chicken in one and she, 'hasn't killed her children yet'. Yet.

ZippyNeedsFeeding · 31/07/2016 13:17

I have a huge slow cooker and I used to use it for roasting legs of lamb. Then my children decided they don't like lamb (annoying since the lamb is free!). Now I use it for making soap. (If you use a slow cooker for soap, please don't use it for anything else afterwards!).

Dh had a phase of cooking loads of things in the slow cooker. Some of it was nice but it was a bit 'samey' and I hate that cloying heavy smell in the air.

Grilledaubergines · 31/07/2016 14:44

I quite like mine. But I usually do casserole type things which all taste reasonably similar, regardless of the meat or recipe. I got rid of my microwave about 20 years ago so the slow cooker is my only other cooking gadget other than the ovens/hob.

NicknameUsed · 31/07/2016 17:35

We very rarely eat casserole type meals. DD doesn't eat meat and the veggie or fish meals I usually make aren't really slow cooker friendly.

I love the idea of pulled pork or slow cooked lamb in a slow cooker, but as I don't have room to store one I just use the oven on a low setting.
