Dog owners put them on a lead!!!

I am a runner, Im so tired of people's dogs running and jumping on me while i'm on a run. Its always dog owners with the larger dogs, if you have a dog that is excitable and is known to chase jump and be a general nuisance to others trying to enjoy the park please put it on a lead.

I suffer severe allergies and today a dog jumped on me while i'm out running and scratched my leg. I have now got a 4 inch scratch which could scar from the knee down. The lazy owner had the dog off a lead and was very overweight so could not keep up with the dog running off ahead.

She then had the nerve to tell me i was out of order for kicking the dog off me.

Please Dog Owners put your dog on a lead.

Are you overweight OP....I assume that's the reason you'd not be able to keep up with my whippet?

WaitrosePigeon · 28/07/2016 21:16

I'm only talking about the people who actually say they hate animals Gottagetmoving, like the poster who was quoted above in her previous posts.

Ghanagirl · 28/07/2016 21:21

I suggest Navy et al set up "dogsnet.com" as can't understand why they post on a site aimed at mums whilst moaning that dogs are equal to children they're not!
Dogs are animals who often attack owners and thier kids!

planeymcplaneface · 28/07/2016 21:22

If you kicked my dog then id be furious at you. I understand that the dog jumping at you is annoying but thats no excuse to hurt it and a kick could really hurt it. Yabu

WaitrosePigeon · 28/07/2016 21:23

I've never said dogs are equal to humans and/or children. I agree that they are not equal to humans and/or children.

There is however a lot of hysteria over dogs on MN.

Galdos · 28/07/2016 21:23

Amazing how many dog owners on this thread walk their own dogs! Round my way dog walking is big business, and if there are more than two dogs I assume it isn't the owner walking them. Generally, I find dog owners are friendly and considerate, but the dogs aren't always, despite best intentions, under control. A dog walker with 5 or 6 medium to big dogs isn't in control of any of them, even if on leads, IF one of the dogs decides to make a run for it. I've watched this happen.

I've never had a problem with dogs, even when I cycle (which I do a lot).

I've often had problems with runners, whether walking or cycling. There's a hardcore who seem to assume the whole path belong to them and evidently expect everyone else to get out of the way. Perhaps fair enough if the path has grass to the side, but I have come across this sense of entitlement on woodland paths where it is thick nettles on both sides, and getting out of the way isn't easy.

Some people are just twats. We should all of us, runners, dog owners, cyclists, whatever, try not to be twats ourselves.

Ghanagirl I think there also needs to be a "dogtitlement" thread as well as the "mumtitlement" one that I've just been reading (and enjoying laughing at!)

Are you serious? Getting attacked by a dog is a reason to kick it off! What was she supposed to do shoo it away? Hmm

The jumping up is distressing for some.

TortoiseVTurtle · 28/07/2016 21:30

I must have missed the 'attack', I thought it was a dog jumping up in excitement. I must read threads more carefully.
Is there a site for those of us who have dogs and children?

Lweji · 28/07/2016 21:31

No, you don't understand.

The dog jumping at someone who doesn't know the dog, or even dogs in general, is more than annoying. It can be scary.
How is anyone supposed to know if the jump is friendly or ends up in an attack? Particularly if sudden?

UnexpectedBaggage · 28/07/2016 21:31

How do you get it off you then, Navy?

My dogs and children all call me mum, so I think I shall be staying here, Tortoise.Grin

I was also under the impression people who aren't mums were also allowed here, but Ghanagirl seems to think she's better placed to judge who can use it.

TortoiseVTurtle · 28/07/2016 21:33

I said that once on here after a toddler came up to me in a coffee shop before I was going for a job interview, he smeared ice cream on my skirt.
The toddler mummies were very defensive Grin

Lweji · 28/07/2016 21:34

Fwiw I also think kids should be kept under control in public places

I agree, although most tend not to jump on people and have short nails and human teeth rather than fangs.

Lweji · 28/07/2016 21:37

The toddler mummies were very defensive

Are these the culprits?
