Dog owners put them on a lead!!!

I am a runner, Im so tired of people's dogs running and jumping on me while i'm on a run. Its always dog owners with the larger dogs, if you have a dog that is excitable and is known to chase jump and be a general nuisance to others trying to enjoy the park please put it on a lead.

I suffer severe allergies and today a dog jumped on me while i'm out running and scratched my leg. I have now got a 4 inch scratch which could scar from the knee down. The lazy owner had the dog off a lead and was very overweight so could not keep up with the dog running off ahead.

She then had the nerve to tell me i was out of order for kicking the dog off me.

Please Dog Owners put your dog on a lead.

Where's that poster who always says that dogs can use parks when they pay taxes? Grin

Lweji · 28/07/2016 20:49

There are two searchable threads where you use the expression "hate dogs"

One is to complain that some people have said it is because you wanted to eat them. :)

The other I'll quote:
"I hate dogs and never let my DD go near them unless they are muzzled and on a lead. I know 3 people who have been mauled by "loving family pets who would never hurt a fly". One of them it was her own dog who she had had for 8 years!"
Well... you may have a point there. Grin

It seems simple enough to me.

People are increasingly being attacked by dogs, according to evidence mentioned earlier in the thread.

Dog owners seem to expect those who don't own dogs to understand dog psychology. This is never going to happen.

So to prevent dog attacks on people in parks, beaches etc, AND to prevent people kicking dogs in self defence when attacked or jumped on, dog owners should keep their dogs on lead and/or muzzled at all times in public spaces.

Fixed!

WaitrosePigeon · 28/07/2016 20:52

I don't trust people that hate animals.

UmbongoUnchained · 28/07/2016 20:53

lweji I'm assuming that people will realise the first comment was out of annoyance regarding the assumptions of my race Grin

The second... Well. There you go.
I don't really give enough of a shit about dogs to hate them.
And if it was a human pinning my toddler down face first into the sand id probably punch them in the head too!

Maybebabybee · 28/07/2016 20:53

Me neither waitrose. It's one of those societal divides I think.

My cat is currently cuddled up with my baby.

I blame the overcrowding, esp. in the big cities.

There are and more and people everywhere, there's nowhere where to have quiet walk or run, so everybody is getting arsey and starts kicking defenceless animals.

They did need, earlier on in the thread, clear instructions on what to do. It involves staying calm and not kicking.

Gottagetmoving · 28/07/2016 20:58

Dogs shouldn't be out of control. If they are off a lead then they should have good recall. They shouldn't be allowed to jump up at people.
BUT a normal sane person wouldn't respond to an overexcited daft dog by kicking and pondering caving in its skull

The poster who said they would have caved a dogs head in was talking about a dog that had pinned her toddler down.... I would say that is sane.

If you can't stay calm, there is no point in having a plan then.

Gottagetmoving · 28/07/2016 21:04

People on here don't hate animals. They hate the stupidity of dog owners who also their dogs to jump up at people out in the open.

Gottagetmoving · 28/07/2016 21:05

Allow! Not Also

babybythesea · 28/07/2016 21:05

I will always recall my dog if I see a cyclist or a runner. She's never jumped and is less than interested in them, what she wants is the ball I always take with us. But I need time to get her back to me. Even if she comes instantly at full pelt it may take her a few seconds, and if she decides to stop and sniff something on the way, or comes back at less an full speed, it will take a few seconds longer. She can't yet apparate (or whatever the term was before Harry Potter). The reason I recall her is she's got no sense - she will stand still then amble suddenly in front of the bike or runner.
What annoys me are the people who swing suddenly round a corner, no warning they are there before they are on top of you, and then shout at you because your dog is out of control. The guy who did that the day DD was walking with me was just bloody lucky it was the dog and not DD he nearly ran over with his posh bike because I'd have reacted a touch more strongly than I did if my daughter had been knocked over.
Inconsiderate dog owners make me angry - my daughter stepping in poo that's been left behind is no more pleasant for me just because we happen to own a dog than for anyone else. But equally I don't want to be tarred with the same brush, and to then be required to keep my own dog on a lead when what she needs for exercise is to run flat out after a ball, not to mooch along beside me on a lead which is not exercise for her at all.

kali110 · 28/07/2016 21:06

waitrose yep!
Lol at the people not wanting to derail the thread to talk about the op fatshaming Grin
So it's unacceptable on every other thread except a dog hating one?
The op fatshamed someone then came up with a reason as to why she kicked the dog, other than she doesn't like them and doesn't want them in her vicinity.
she's very lucky the owner didn't kick her. I would have.

kali110 · 28/07/2016 21:07

If this happened obviously Grin

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 28/07/2016 21:07

Well, no.
If they hated the stupidity of the dog owners they would have kicked the dog owners or they would have caved in the owner's head, as a poster so delightfully put it.

Chardonnay no one said they would have caved the dogs head in. That was said in reference to a dog pinning a 2-year-old down facedown. Gottagemoving has just said that as well as the original poster making that clear. Are you actually reading the thread or just skimming for what you perceive to be "dog-hate"?

UnexpectedBaggage · 28/07/2016 21:12

If you kicked my dog id have launched at you.

And I'd have taken great delight in you being arrested and charged for assault, silly thing to say.

Dogs come second to humans every time.
