I don't like being called a guy in restaurants. As in, "Hey [also horrible] guys! What can I get you?"

Cuz is quite Shakespearean though.

mummytofourbabys · 27/07/2016 09:59

I am actually guilty of using the "guys" one quite often

Cuz is used in Shakespeare a lot so hardly a new thing.

PotOfYoghurt · 27/07/2016 10:04

Just be glad you're not in a place where you get cuzzy-bro.

mummytofourbabys · 27/07/2016 10:05

Didn't say it was new Suffolk
Just that I find it a cringey word to call someone. Grin

Potofyoghurt

Do people actually get called cuzzybro? Confused

OP posts:
PotOfYoghurt · 27/07/2016 10:09

In certain parts of New Zealand they do!

Sallystyle · 27/07/2016 10:12

My teens went through a stage where they called everyone 'blud'

Helloitsme88 · 27/07/2016 10:13

Yanbu 🙈🙈🙈

mummytofourbabys · 27/07/2016 10:15

Blud haha

My boy is 12 and he is down with the slang
Haha

He refers to his friend as his "squad" haha makes me laugh..

EssentialHummus · 27/07/2016 10:16

I call my cousin Cuz, which I take is acceptable Grin

I really cringe at Blud, Fam and Bruv. Years of living in SE London haven't immunised me.

ParadiseCity · 27/07/2016 10:17

I call my cousins cuz, is that cringey or normal? I have tons of them. Don't make me remember all their names.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 27/07/2016 10:17

Love the idea of a single friend being a squad

blindsider · 27/07/2016 10:21

The term 'friendship group' makes me a little bit sick in my mouth.

mummytofourbabys · 27/07/2016 10:21

Sorry that was a spelling mistake..
Meant to write friends haha not a single friend, his group of friends is his squad

Haha, each to their own, I just find it cringey, would much rather name people by their names instead of their relation to you, but then I only have 2 cousins so that could be why haha.

Gang makes me squirm with horror.

Hey, gang!
Come and meet the gang!

Eurk.

mummytofourbabys · 27/07/2016 10:24

Envy I think I agree with gang too

I'm not crazy about 'the girls' - 'having lunch with the girls'; 'night in with the girls'. Fine if you're talking about your darling daughters, makes me cringe if you're talking about your middle-aged friends.

pleasemothermay1 · 27/07/2016 10:31

My 16 year old says

What's up fam meaning family lol

Patterkiller · 27/07/2016 10:31

I hate mate
DH meets an acquaintance in the street.
'Alright mate?'
'Yes mate, you?'
'Yes mate, great. How's the family?'
'Fine mate, yours?'
'Great mate'?
'Well, see you around mate'
'Yes see you around mate'

Argghgg.

pleasemothermay1 · 27/07/2016 10:32

Also lately he's been referring to his friends as "the squad"

Me and the squad are going .....
The squad would like so,e snacks lol

rainchancer · 27/07/2016 10:33

They do it on Facebook a lot. I always think it's kind of of bragging "you lot are only friends, but she's my cousin" kind of thing.

mummytofourbabys · 27/07/2016 10:36

Rain just happens to be Facebook that inspired this thread haha
