Am I just being female and hormonal??

So every morning I shower, wash my hair, put make up on and wear nice clothes....this morning I chucked on an old pair of jeans and a jumper to do a couple of things around the house. DP gets ready and suggests we go out somewhere. He says he'll be ready in 20 mins. I say I'll need more time as i haven't even showered yet. He says 'oh, I thought you were ready'.

I never go anywhere without make up...I don't wear tons of it but you can definitely tell the difference; I have curly hair so without it being done, I look like I've been dragged through a hedge. We haven't been together for years and years, I fancy him like mad. I'm also 19 weeks pregnant and am feeling fat and hormonal. Now I think that he just doesn't even notice how I look anymore and obviously doesn't fancy me. Please tell me I'm mad and need to get a grip.....

My DP rarely goes out without doing his hair and he often spends longer getting ready than me! I tell him he's like a girl Grin

Red - if you get professional eyelash extensions, you can cry with them on. Problem solved!

Most men prefer women to wear little or no makeup. Most of the time the effort we make is for ourselves. Unless we are dressed up to the nines for a night out I don't think they care! Smile

And why is it that women have been brainwashed convinced that they need to look a particular way, smell a particular way...?

Noonesfool- I don't feel I have to.

I like to, enjoy to and want to,

It's my favourite part of being a woman.

mz seriously? Your favourite part of being a woman?

I have to say I just find it utterly puzzling when women won't leave the house without makeup and I do worry about whether/why they feel they are somehow less acceptable without it.

Having hair which is reasonably clean and 'kemp' ( which might be very short or curly or quirky - doesn't have to be 50s style tidy) seems perhaps a bit different - ie to show a reasonable degree of self respect in either or any gender. Doesn't mean it needs to be primped for ages though.

Yes.
I love make up. I love styling my hair. I love looking at what different shades suit different outfits.

Of course men can do it but generally they don't!!

What's your favourite part of being a woman?

Me too mz but what I love the most is when random men come up to me and tell me to get my tits out or tell me how women are basically second class citizens. I just love it. My dh does the same - he understands why for a few days every month we can't have sex and I lose my shit whilst menstruating. But I more than make it up to him. It's not a widely known thing but I basically invented steak and blow job day. I apologise to him in the morning if he wakes up earlier than me and therefore has to suffer the sight of my face without make up or my hair without straightening. But I make it up to him - he loves poached eggs on toast. It's the least I can do to show him how grateful I am.

My favourite part of being a woman?

I love parenting my boy - he's amazing.
I love my job - I have to be constantly on my toes and use my brain.
I love laughing and being silly.
I love running.

Wouldn't want to pick just one...

I think I agree with you mz...I love putting my make up on, adjusting it to whether it's daytime or nighttime, matching it to what I'm wearing etc.. I love doing 'girly' things; manicures, pedicures, facials, waxing, going to the hairdressers. Of course there's more to being a woman than that, but it's definitely one of my favourite parts.

Op- of course because we love make up, it makes us thick, makes our husbands possessive, makes other males ask us to get out tits out etc... Hmm

Baffling

Red - I wish I could make a decent poached egg!! Might be worth mentioning that while I'm being all girly with my make up, DP actually does most of the cooking ( he makes amazing poached eggs) and all of the hoovering!

Noonesfool - I am genuinely jealous of anyone who loves running!!

Who said that, mz

And Navy, no I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. But I do think it's important to do these things consciously - there are so many subtle ways in which sexism is alive and well.

Women becoming conditioned that they should look a certain way is part of that - particularly around hair removal, eye make up (making us look doe eyed and child like), lip make up/enhancement (making our mouths more like vaginas....) it's a product of a patriarchy, that demands women to be broadly submissive.

I think it is incredibly important to at least consider this shit...
