Am I just being female and hormonal??

So every morning I shower, wash my hair, put make up on and wear nice clothes....this morning I chucked on an old pair of jeans and a jumper to do a couple of things around the house. DP gets ready and suggests we go out somewhere. He says he'll be ready in 20 mins. I say I'll need more time as i haven't even showered yet. He says 'oh, I thought you were ready'.

I never go anywhere without make up...I don't wear tons of it but you can definitely tell the difference; I have curly hair so without it being done, I look like I've been dragged through a hedge. We haven't been together for years and years, I fancy him like mad. I'm also 19 weeks pregnant and am feeling fat and hormonal. Now I think that he just doesn't even notice how I look anymore and obviously doesn't fancy me. Please tell me I'm mad and need to get a grip.....

But there was no unreasonable behaviour....there were unreasonable thoughts, which in my opinion are a result of hormones!

Oh god, I have no problem justifying my need to wear make up every time I leave the house.....it's because I look shit without it!! Grin

Clearly your DH doesn't think so, OP!

hormonalpreg · 16/07/2016 18:16

Haha!! Now I'm not being female, hormonal, or irrational, I can agree with that! Smile

I'm getting eyelash and eyebrow extensions in preparation for giving birth!

OP posts:
Noonesfool · 16/07/2016 18:29

Misread that initially as "elbow extensions" 😳

Ha, good one OP - always good when people are willing to laugh at themselves 😂

hormonalpreg · 16/07/2016 18:31

I am genuinely getting them done though!! Grin

Why?

hormonalpreg · 16/07/2016 18:33

But I don't want to open a new can of worms about vanity!! Confused

Low self esteem, the most likely reason, I think you'll find.

God my sister is like this the whole time. Ít is deeply annoying. When I say let´s nip out for coffee, I mean now. I don´t need to shower do my hair, put on foundation and ´´just a bit of mascara´´ for this. Sometimes you can just get up and go. Brush your teeth, that´s all. So vain. So boring and such a FAFF.

Scoopmuckdizzy · 16/07/2016 18:43

I love MN.

mzS1990 · 16/07/2016 18:43

Op Understand.

I don't go anywhere without doing my hair and makeup. It baffles my husband but he knows it's just a 'girl thing'.

Your partner probably doesn't get it yet cos to him your beautiful anyway.

And of course women are more irritable than men when their make up isn't on (in general!) I don't think men mind going to tesco without their lippy on haha

hormonalpreg · 16/07/2016 18:43

Thanks Navy Smile

Misread your tone then Navy, apologies. :)

I guess low self esteem is one explanation for lots of appearance related primping.

I don't think it's a shitty thing to say actually.

hormonalpreg · 16/07/2016 18:46

And just for the record, I don't have low self esteem....I just prefer the way I look with make up on. If you're happy without then that's your prerogative.

mzS1990 Your husband thinks it's just a 'girl thing'? Christ on a hover board! This thread is alarming!

mzS1990 · 16/07/2016 18:48

Red- yes my love for make up and dolling myself up is of course, a 'girl thing'....
It's not a boy thing is it Hmm

hormonalpreg · 16/07/2016 18:50

My DP rarely goes out without doing his hair and he often spends longer getting ready than me! I tell him he's like a girl Grin
