To wonder whether the Cameron children's absence was authorised?

I am not sure whether the little one is at school, but the other two must be. Can you get authorised absence to watch your dad's last day in his old job?

Abraiid2 · 14/07/2016 06:34

I said the original post (OP in this context) was bitchy. I did not call anyone a b.tch.

NashvilleQueen · 14/07/2016 06:36

And of course there's a recent court ruling in favour of children being allowed out in term time so, you know, it's a bit of a goady question really .....

LynetteScavo · 14/07/2016 06:43

Actually, this thread has turn out to be quite funny after all. Grin

ReallyTired · 14/07/2016 07:41

David Cameron's family are far from homeless, they are very rich and easily can afford temporary accommodation in London so that their children can finish the school term. However they have had to move with extremely short notice and this is distruptive.

Bare in mind that this is a parenting site and prehaps the Camerons should have our support like any other family. This thread is pathetic.

sorenofthejnaii · 14/07/2016 07:44

Wow..

Pathetic
Bitchy
Goady
Ridiculous

And all because someone had the temerity to ask if the absence was authorised when a parent leaves work and the kids move house - given that this parent is head of a Government that has fined parents who have had far better excuses to ask for a day off.

MN certainly has changed.

Majormajormajor · 14/07/2016 07:58

Yes, MN has changed. I don't understand the point you're making. Or was that it? Just that MN has changed?

The whole world is constantly changing, get over it.

goodbyestranger · 14/07/2016 08:20

I don't think it's that some DC are more exceptional than other DC; it's that some HTs are far more sensible than other HTs.

forkhandles4candles · 14/07/2016 08:59

A parenting site and so the Cameron's should have our support like any other family? Really? I mean Okay I don't want to be nasty to children....,but I share absolutely no experience or solidarity with this family at all....

mummytime · 14/07/2016 09:03

Btw my DC have been granted permission to have time off school from their very strict school for death of a grandparent. Any school which wouldn't imho is not great at pastoral care.

ParadiseCity · 14/07/2016 09:09

When Dave was going on and on I was looking at Sam thinking OMG that's my 'saying goodbye to the inlaws' face. Trying to look polite and patient but screaming inside 'visit over, duty done, let's just jump in the car and get the fuck out of here!!'

idontlikealdi · 14/07/2016 09:14

God how mean. What shouldn't they be there? Fairly historical occasion, regardless of your political leanings.

smallfox2002 · 14/07/2016 09:15

"given that this parent is head of a Government that has fined parents who have had far better excuses to ask for a day off."

I doubt David Cameron had a hand in that, its the HT that approves the day off and the local council that fines you. The decision making is not done in Downing Street.

I also don't know of a HT who wouldn't grant a day off for moving house.

I do know a lot of self entitled parents who want all of the rules applied ll of the time when it suits them, but then want them bent when it suits them too.

pasanda · 14/07/2016 09:16

I'm sure that stepping down as PM is quite a momentous thing no?

FFS, to question their dc having the day off for this is utterly ridiculous and pathetic.

Get a fucking grip

pasanda · 14/07/2016 09:17

'when a parent leaves work'

ha ha fucking ha

PaddingtonLoverOfMarmalade · 14/07/2016 09:24

All 3 children looked a bit overwhelmed so they probably do need a day off and to be involved in the move, etc. It's not their fault their dad was pm and for a child it must come with a lot of disadvantages.

ArmySal · 14/07/2016 09:25

Are some posters nasty bastards who speak scornfully and aggressively to others in RL, or do they just wait until they can act full of bravado on here?

Hmm...

limitedperiodonly · 14/07/2016 11:36

My hatred of Dave and Droopy Drawers has some bounds and I thank the OP for helping me reach them.

It doesn't matter whether the children's absence was authorised or not. He and his wife decided to take them out of school for the day. Just like all parents, they are entitled to make that decision, and will no doubt deal with any consequences, just like all parents.

BertrandRussell · 14/07/2016 11:58

Cameron is, indeed,loathsome. However...

are you THAT bored to wonder such things?!?!? here's some Flowers

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 14/07/2016 12:43

They're off school again today, at least the oldest one is. Grin

Just5minswithDacre · 14/07/2016 12:54

are you THAT bored to wonder such things?!?!?

Absolutely. We must take a firm stand against triviality and general breeze-shooting on MN.

Only weighty debate about life-altering issues from now on.

Hmm
Just5minswithDacre · 14/07/2016 12:56

(And actually OP does have a point in saying that he's just either ignored or bought himself out of his own - implemented -party policy, which isn't so very trivial as we assess his legacy.)

limitedperiodonly · 14/07/2016 13:03

Absolutely. We must take a firm stand against triviality and general breeze-shooting on MN. Only weighty debate about life-altering issues from now on.

But this is neither. It's just whining. The OP is free to take her children out of school too.

Just5minswithDacre · 14/07/2016 13:08

It's no different to a million other threads Confused
