To wonder whether the Cameron children's absence was authorised?

I am not sure whether the little one is at school, but the other two must be. Can you get authorised absence to watch your dad's last day in his old job?

Oh ffs, the last HALF term will have BEGUN on the 3rd June, not the last DAY of term!

smallfox2002 · 13/07/2016 20:44

There are some proper numpties on here tonight.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 13/07/2016 20:47

GCH's last day is Friday.

I doubt she's missing a great deal and I'm sure they will have authorised it.

NickiFury · 13/07/2016 20:51

What is "goady" exactly about this? Who are these people that are SO very invested in David Cameron and his personal life that they'd feel bullied and goaded by this question?

I don't care why and how his kids are off as I pull mine out whenever I want anywhere and couldn't care less about fines but to call this OP a bitch for asking a not particularly controversial question is completely out of order and I think you should apologise the poster that said that.

NickiFury · 13/07/2016 20:52

Every night, these days smallfox.

Johnny5isAlive · 13/07/2016 20:55

YANBU to wonder this OP

LynetteScavo · 13/07/2016 20:56

They probably phoned the kids in sick like I some people do when they want to do something other than school for the day. Wink

Just5minswithDacre · 13/07/2016 21:04

They are probably about to move to private so Cameron will have gone 'ha ha ha ha, fuck it'.

Smile

I was wondering earlier if any MNers have a DD on the waiting list for GHS year 7.

NickiFury · 13/07/2016 21:07

just5 I have messaged you Smile

ApocalypseSlough · 13/07/2016 21:27

Grey Coats has definitely not broken up yet.
I'd love a PM. I'd hope he'd leave his children in their current schools, but wouldn't be surprised if he moves them. Hmm

Silverstreaks · 13/07/2016 21:39

No YANBU but I don't think getting authorisation would be a top priority.

UterusUterusGhali · 13/07/2016 21:47

Of course the OP isn't snidey or goady.

It highlights how it's very much "us" and "them".

Tbf I would have taken my kids out of school too for a trip to Westminster, but I doubt I'd have had them present at my last day of work. :/

sorenofthejnaii · 13/07/2016 21:52

There's a Dad who's been fined for taking his DC on holiday - because it was the best time in between cancer therapy.

I know that 1 day out like this makes no odds to education. I do wonder why they needed to be there - except to present the family image and the picture of them leaving Downing St. It must have been quite hard for them to grasp the reality of the situation - and in front of the world's press. Especially when Cameron has tried to keep them out of the limelight.

Still, it's a day off school. Or an afternoon?

PaulAnkaTheDog · 13/07/2016 22:03

I thought this thread was going to be light hearted. I was bitterly disappointed. I think my holiday break on mumsnet might be extended.

redshoeblueshoe · 13/07/2016 22:07

Paul I'm with you
OP Wine I thought the same thing

Mycraneisfixed · 13/07/2016 22:22

What a silly thread.

sorenofthejnaii · 13/07/2016 22:26

What a silly thread

I remember when silly threads were ok and you didn't get called goady or a bitch for starting one.

eyestightshut · 13/07/2016 22:41

Of course they've had the day off - Sam will have had them down the Westminster City Council offices to help support her application for a house and appropriate benefits now they're homeless

19lottie82 · 13/07/2016 22:42

These threads really get on my wick........ WHO CARES????!

Butteredparsnips · 13/07/2016 22:49

I had the same thought. While I agree it is exceptional circumstances, and that the children should have been there, not all children are granted leave even when their individual situation is equally valid.

Some DC are more exceptional than others it would seem.

Notthebumtroll · 13/07/2016 22:51

What a disgusting and irrelevant attitude.

kitty1976 · 13/07/2016 23:12

It was after school ended for the day, what a daft thread!!!

UterusUterusGhali · 14/07/2016 00:04

PNQs is at midday.

ReallyTired · 14/07/2016 01:57

The family have been forced to move house at very short notice because Andrea Leadsom bowed out of the leadership contest. Their children could have been granted leave on compassionate grounds as they have been made homeless at short notice.

The logical thing to do might have been start school holidays early and rent a villa in Tusceny as they cannot move into their Notting hill property yet.

Anatolefrance · 14/07/2016 06:29

Agree that it's a ridiculous POV from the OP but find it hilarious that people are saying the Cameron's have been made homeless.
I'm sure the chap who begs at our local ymca would see they're in the same technical position.
