To think my friend totally cockblocked me

Met a guy at the weekend whilst out with my mate. Didn't manage to change numbers, no worries it happens.

The next day she sent me a picture message of a message he had sent her on FB asking for my number (they have a mutual friend). She asked me if I wanted to give it to him and I said yes. A week passed and no fact, she even asked me twice if he had text.

Anyway I've just had a message from him on FB (not sure how as my FB is totally locked down, with my first name and middle name). He said he knows I didn't want to give him my number but wanted to message just in case I changed my mind.

I messaged back and said oh I told X to give it to you. He sent me a screenshot of their convo where she said oh I don't think she's up for it sorry!

She totally just cockblocked me didn't she?

Woah, what a cow! Sorry but I'd evaluate that friendship. She comes across as pretty immature.

Livvy79 · 08/07/2016 17:56

I had a friend like that...when we were single and on a night out, she would often tell guys I wasn't interested or she would just be rude to them and tell them to eff off! I started seeing someone and she cornered him in the loo and tried to kiss him, then told me I wasn't invited to a party that they were both going to. She was my 'best' friend up until then....haven't seen or spoken to her since. That was 6 years ago. Your friend is no friend!!

Elfieselfie · 08/07/2016 17:56

Cockblocked? I've learnt a new word today! Must use it somehow Grin

AyeAmarok · 08/07/2016 17:56

I'm glad your "friend's" plan didn't work and he found you anyway Smile

I'm off to buy a hat!

Ginkypig · 08/07/2016 17:57

Hmm unless he has sent her somthing inappropriate that you don't know about then I would understand

If not then she's actually quite controlling and weird esp given the other info regarding the behaviour in the club.

I know you say she is best friend close but I couldn't imagine somone I am meant to be that close to treating me in such a horrible way.

MilesHuntsWig · 08/07/2016 17:57

Yep, what a rubbish "mate"

Strokethefurrywall · 08/07/2016 17:57

I am ridiculously over intrigued to see what her response is!!!

Yep, she totally cock blocked you. What.A.Bitch.

SeymourButtz · 08/07/2016 17:57

Not really the actions of a friend. Very sad if she's sabotaging your potential relationships because she's unhappy in her own marriage.
On a different note AbsolutelyIDo who is Finn and what's the deal with his birthday?

needastrongone · 08/07/2016 17:58

Totally crap of your 'friend', but totally cool of the guy for tracking you down.

OP, are you going to see him? Hope so!

And what has your friend replied with?

ElspethFlashman · 08/07/2016 17:59

Me too stroke.

I suspect she'll deny it as she doesn't know about the screenshot. Shock

Thecatmademedoit · 08/07/2016 17:59

What an absolute cow ! I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't reply just out of sheer embarrassment of being caught out.

CactusTeeth · 08/07/2016 17:59

loving the word cockblocked Grin

Cockblocked · 08/07/2016 17:59

She just replied

God sorry had forgotten, I sent him that before I asked you as didn't think you were interested! Meant to send your number and didn't, sorry lovely. Hmm

MrsIcandothis · 08/07/2016 18:01

Wow, some friend she is!

Justbeingnosey123 · 08/07/2016 18:01

Have you told her you have seen the screen shot or just asked her what she said?? My money's on her trying to lie her way out of it be prepared for oh no dos the message not send?? Or some bs about protecting you as she knows some mysterious secret about this bloke.

Cockblocked · 08/07/2016 18:02

Looked at screenshot and she did message him about 5 minutes after he messaged her. Need to go through my texts and see when she messaged me to ask!

Justbeingnosey123 · 08/07/2016 18:02

Crossed post lol

2nds · 08/07/2016 18:02

Maybe he was a bit of a nob and she remembered and was trying to save you from a lifetime of hell?

Strokethefurrywall · 08/07/2016 18:03

Chinny reckon. She's bullshitting.

Of course you don't forget accidentally telling someone that your friend isn't interested.

She fancies him herself but can't do anything because she's married; and/or
She doesn't want to lose you for nights out if you get involved with him because having a single friend gives her an excuse to live vicariously.

One or both of those.

ElspethFlashman · 08/07/2016 18:03

Ok now we have to check the timestamp on the screenshot!

(I may be too invested but it's either this or watching Charlie & Lola.....)

Strokethefurrywall · 08/07/2016 18:04

And why would she tell him you weren't interested without asking you first??

What a presumptuous cow speaking on your behalf...

Justbeingnosey123 · 08/07/2016 18:05

She's text you Inbetween to check though? So she remembered that but not to send the number 🙄

blowmybarnacles · 08/07/2016 18:05

Likely story re: her response! She should have asked, how hard would it be to ask single friend if he likes a bloke or not!

blowmybarnacles · 08/07/2016 18:06

And she sent you pic of his request, having already said no on your behalf.... Confused
