To be fed up with all the name-calling and general nastiness on here lately? Can we have a NICE thread please?

My MN usage has seriously declined over the last couple of weeks because of all the name-calling, intolerance, prejudice and nastiness on many posts.

This is leaving me with too much spare time, driving me to contemplate housework Shock

So I would like to start a thread where posters can only say something positive, encouraging, pleasant and just generally nice about anyone or anything.

My retired NDNs have the most beautiful garden. They also feed the birds so when I look out of my bedroom window every single morning I see flowers, shrubs and birds of all kinds. They're also very kind and when my fence blew down a few years ago they didn't my dog sniffing around their garden one bit.

My neighbours are lovely. One came round yesterday to tell us they are retiring and moving back to their country of birth. I'm so sad!

My MIL is wonderful and regularly comes and takes my DD out for the day. She is always buying clothes and books for her so clearly is thinking about her all the time. :) She's easy to get along with and is really respectful when i've made decisions that are clearly different to ones she would have.

Oh and my lovely ndn cut my garden hedge for me which was totally wild and out of control because 'he remembers having a toddler and not having a spare second let alone enough time to garden.'

My sister has just left after staying for a week. Despite her having possible fertility issues and just having split up from her dp, she spent the week fussing over my bump, coming to scans and helping me decorate the baby's room. I would completely understand if she didn't want to do any of that, but she is such a genuine and lovely person. I hope good things head her way soon. I really miss her now she's gone home.

My next door neighbours on one side have the most lovely two little girls, who I love seeing play outside our houses and they are always so nice a polite to me, and with each other.

My other next door neighbours accept lots of parcels for us, and within seconds of me getting home bring them round, because they don't want me to lift or carry things!

My dh is just an all round nice guy, who works really hard and I can't wait to see him with our first DC (he's very excited).

There are lots of lovely women on mumsnet who have supported me throughout a not so pleasant pregnancy. When I was feeling very unwell, I really appreciated all their support.

Also, I love being on maternity leave and being able to spend lots of time with my cat while waiting for baby to arrive.

We got new neighbours (well a year ago so not really new) down our lane and they turned out lovely their dd is 8 and has become good friend with our dd1 while they have actually become friends with us rather than just people we wave at going past they're off on hols next week and actually giving us a key to catsit which mKes a lovely change as the other few houses on the lane are nice enough but more of the smile over the hedges types

At the summer fair last Saturday.
DS won a couple of toys on the toy tombola. One of those toys was a girly one and he didn't want it (He is 5) so he gave it to his friend who is in his class. Then the little girl said DS could have a car that she won and they ended up swapping instead.

I saw a mother duck and her ducklings step out across a road, I was going in the opposite direction. I flashed the cars going the other way and was about to sob my way home when I saw in my rear view mirror that all the cars stopped and someone got out to guide them back.

went smoothly and I now have perfect vision in one eye. The brain is a bit confused at the moment because the other eye is uncorrected, but that will sort itself out the week after next when the other eye is done.

It's a medical bloody miracle.

That must be amazing. I remember when my friend had laser treatment and she couldn't believe what she could see. The downside was that she insisted on reading out every shop name and road sign when we were out walking....

I've just been sat watching my two 'pet' wood pigeons in the garden from my bedroom window Grin

They nuzzled each other, the female flew slightly away to let the male chase her, they had about 10 seconds of wing flapping sex, and then went to find food.

I texted DH to tell him cos I'm weird, he texted back that the pigeon is a bloody show off Grin Grin

The nice Tesco person got me a replacement even though it was my fault and I'd already paid. Nice Tesco.

My 10 year old with ASD had the best day ever at his induction day at school. He loves his new teacher, said his seat by the window was brilliant because he could watch the pet guinea pigs out of it and has come home smiling. He's had a rough run lately with friendship worries and general growing-up-but-not-quite-ready-for-it stuff.

Best moment of my week by a country mile.

I love watching my son (3 1/2 years old) interact and give kisses to his little brother (9 months old). When they are playing together and he makes the little one laugh...ah, it fills my heart with joy! Grin

I was walking my dogs earlier and a group of young boys on scooters were heading my way. One shouted to his friends 'Slow down so we don't scare the dogs!'. They all politely walked their scooters past us. Very sweet young lads.

Great news Andrew !!
I have been very ill but this week I was able to go for a swim for the first time in over a year. That undiluted pleasure of feeling weightless and movement being so easy, it was blissful. It also felt like I was taking some control back and doing something that I love Smile

I too am finding the spitefullness and glee at being able to criticise others shortcomings really draining. We really are our own worst enemy sometimes Sad

Andrewofgg, glad to hear your good news: told you I'd heard it was a lifechanger!
You will know what to expect when you go for the next surgery: there'll be no stopping you then.
I'm new to MN, and while enjoying the chats and advice, I've been disappointed at times at the way conversation takes a turn for the worse, and have found it very off putting to see intolerance and unpleasantness.

Ds nailed his sats despite me worrying when he was pre school that he wouldn't be able to go to a mainstream school. And he won a few of his sports day races Smile

Our new ndns are lovely. The dcs cat sat last week and they gave them pocket money and wrote them the nicest thank you letter.

I don't wear glasses, but I can imagine how your life is going to be transformed in so many ways after wearing them for all those years.
A nice little treat would be some new eye make-up, now you will be able to see what you are doing!

My neighbours are lovely. They cut our grass, trim our hedges and generally, love to help out. I see them almost daily and they love when I come over for a chat and cup of tea. They are an older couple who get lonely but are so kind and friendly.

I see an NHS consultant who is amazing. He responds to emails every day, even when on holiday. He gives great advice and treats me like an individual. I have a lot of respect for him and I feel respected too.

I posted on MN a few weeks ago (serial name changer) and got so much helpful and constructive advice. I got empathy and support and even a PM.

I dropped everything I was carrying in the street and a stranger stopped to help me.

I love my NDN. courteous, always stop for a chat & really helpful. The whole street (there's 4 houses) got us a welcome card & wine when we moved in.

I also prefer the company of my PIL to my own side!

My cucumbers have grown, despite all the horrible weather, and I have proper cucumbers on them. Never grown them before so Im really pleased.

Bought some lovely cakes from a local market/fayre thing today.

Managed to rescue a blackbird the cat caught and brought in. Bit of a kerfuffle, but it flew off unscathed.

I met an Italian lad in the local pub last night. He is working on the local farm to improve his English but said he was very homesick and wasn't learning much as the other workers don't speak much English.

This morning I phoned a friend in the village whose mum is in her 80's and Italian to see if they would help (i took his phone number) and she has just posted a picture of them all at the village coffee shop eating cake.

They are lovely people. Smile
