To think it's too late to be letting off fireworks?

One of my neighbours has just let off a load of extremely loud fireworks. It's gone 10pm for crying out loud!

I realise they have probably waited this late due to the lighter evenings but this is why people don't generally have fireworks in July.

I now have a screaming baby to settle.

10 pm is when fireworks should be set off surely, any earlier and it's still light outside in July. It's only in recent years displays are early at 6-7pm, always used to be 9.30-10pm. Made sense as darker, and people actually can get there after work ( most people still at work at 6pm)

Where we used to live we had fireworks nearly every Saturday throughout summer. It was usually a wedding celebration.

I heard fireworks around 11pm last night, was annoyed as have massive pregnant belly and was miraculously actually sleeping till they started Sad

Cockadoodledooo · 03/07/2016 09:55

Bill - OK, I'm in the wrong. But I do firmly believe they shouldn't be on sale to Joe Public, and should only be used in licensed, insured displays. Not only have I been injured by a stray firework in the past as I said above, but our house is thatched and I'm massively paranoid!

Our local church had a summer fair and fireworks last night. Christian holiday or festivity?

bushybarnaby · 03/07/2016 10:07

Lots going off here at 11.30pm last night... Pretty random I thought as it was quite a good display, seems it wasn't so random now!

BillSykesDog · 03/07/2016 12:17

I tend to agree with that actually cock, would make everyone safer.

It seems to be a 'thing' now for wedding receptions to end the evening with a Bang. I live near a popular country house/wedding reception venue and not a Saturday goes by where y0u don't hear a racket at a certain time.
My pets hate it. As do I.

Hopefully the trend will die out eventually, along with chocolate fountains and those silly photo booths.

Indeed I think we are slippers shame the weather wasn't as good as last year isn't it? Small world!

Hale Carnival in Farnham was the one near me, it turns out. Not very near the West Sussex border though...

SuperMoonIsKeepingMeUpToo · 04/07/2016 21:11

cesare yes, we're in Farnham!

CesareBorgiasUnicornMask · 06/07/2016 19:43

I'm in Aldershot, but every time I go to Farnham (mostly to take DS to the playground in Gostrey meadow) I think the place must be hooching with mumsnetters Grin.

CakeNinja · 06/07/2016 20:17
