To think it's too late to be letting off fireworks?

One of my neighbours has just let off a load of extremely loud fireworks. It's gone 10pm for crying out loud!

I realise they have probably waited this late due to the lighter evenings but this is why people don't generally have fireworks in July.

I now have a screaming baby to settle.

West Country here.

Really fucking loud...

Sallystyle · 02/07/2016 23:12

It's the Lord Mayor's Procession here. I usually hear the fireworks but I haven't tonight.

Slippersandacuppa · 02/07/2016 23:14

Thankful - think we're neighbours!

Stratford River Festival by any chance?

SamWheat · 02/07/2016 23:14

Yorkshire here and loads of them. What's going on?!

Tworingsandamicrowave · 02/07/2016 23:14

U2 are you in Norwich?

PseudoBadger · 02/07/2016 23:15

Here too - Elveden Centerparcs!

Solina · 02/07/2016 23:16

Someone had fireworks at 1am last night and they went on forever, few minutes or so. Antisocial dicks. Angry
Oh and some more just went off now, but it was only few.

I absolutely hate fireworks and think they shouldnt be allowed all year round. Few days a year would be enough.

PortiaFinis · 02/07/2016 23:16

Supermoon, Cesare me too on the Surrey/Hants border! My closest town had a carnival today maybe that's what the fireworks were for?

ErrolTheDragon · 02/07/2016 23:18

Arf at the idea that we should celebrate the 4th of July in the UK! (Esp as it isn't the 4th today anyway). Though oddly various of my US bosses over the years sometimes seemed surprised when I was working on it. We weren't that pleased to get rid of themGrin.

I didn't thing it was the end of Ramadan for a few more days either.

Haven't heard any fireworks hereabouts (NW) anyway..

IPityThePontipines · 02/07/2016 23:21

I also heard them in the West Midlands.

ProfessorPickles · 02/07/2016 23:28

There's loads going off where I live too. How bizarre!

wonkylegs · 02/07/2016 23:29

We've had 7hrs of very very loud live music ending in fireworks @11pm for a retirement party in our village, wouldn't have minded so much if we'd been given a heads up but we were just left to wonder where the concert was that could be so loud. Luckily my kids will sleep through anything but it killed off any chance of a catch up sleep for me (we have a newborn) so I'm shattered and less than impressed.

mycircleissmall · 02/07/2016 23:32

It is just a few fireworks. I wouldn't get wound up about it unless he does it every week?

RuggerHug · 02/07/2016 23:33

tumbleweed.....I think we had a rainbow earlier? Nowt unusual in Dublin!

SinisterBumFacedCat · 02/07/2016 23:35

DP just said exactly the same thing to me! We are in Surrey, I think it's weddings as it happens most weekends.

purpleviolet1 · 02/07/2016 23:36

Ramadan doesn't end until Tuesday or Wednesday.

CoreyTaylorsMask · 02/07/2016 23:37

Another one on the Surrey / Hants border - also border West Sussex as well. Wondering if i'm anywhere near the other surrey / hands borders. Town beginning with H - had a festival today?!

Normandy144 · 02/07/2016 23:39

It was Canada Day yesterday, so could be that. We had our party tonight but no fireworks. We have had the audacity to hang up our flag and so far no one has told us to go home!

ClaraLane · 02/07/2016 23:44

U2 and Tworings I'm in Norwich and we had a load go off at 10.30 for the Lord Mayor's Procession. I think some of those elsewhere must be weddings/proms. We had fireworks at my school prom in 2005.

flappingbingowings · 02/07/2016 23:45

Really? You need to sort your shit out.

bluebloom · 02/07/2016 23:48

I'm up in Scotland & our neighbours have just had loads of fireworks. They love them though, let them off every few months for no discernible reason. No weddings or proms or anything round here live in a truly horrible neighbourhood

WanderingNotLost · 02/07/2016 23:51

I can hear them right now in NE London. makes a nice change from hearing the North Circular

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 02/07/2016 23:55

I think this may be urban legend but apparently some drug dealers use fireworks to let their clients know that they've just got some 'stock' in. Sounds like bollocks but thought I'd throw that in there and out myself as living somewhere rough Grin

Cockadoodledooo · 02/07/2016 23:55

They're not too late, they're 4 bloody months too early! Angry

WorraLiberty · 02/07/2016 23:59

How are they 4 months too early? Confused

Fireworks haven't been consigned to the tradition of Guy Fawkes night since the 1980s.

They're also used to celebrate NYE, Chinese new year, Diwali, Eid and many other celebrations.
