Just read something interesting. Apparently it isn't anything to do with Vikings, but comes from Scottish Premier League, Motherwell to be exact. The Icelandic fans took it from there; and perfected it.

Grin

Iceland did it so much better though...

cozietoesie · 29/06/2016 00:22

Tread softly, Foxes.

There a lot of dreams underfoot on this thread! 😀

What could possibly have been deleted on this lovely thread?

Oysterbabe · 29/06/2016 09:15

I assume it was spam. Probably a love spell.

RudeElf · 29/06/2016 09:16

To make those lovely icelandic men fall in love with us no doubt Wink

LittleMissUpset · 29/06/2016 09:21

I'm really pleased for Iceland as they did really well, and I say that as an England supporter.

But I found the chant really triggered my misophonia! It made me feel really weird for some reason Confused

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 29/06/2016 16:36

I loved this on how the Iceland Squad was selected and it's kind of endeared me to the team even more Grin

That's great. Smile

AuntieStella · 29/06/2016 18:31

Love that list, Enrique

Though I do think some of their chanting is very like Queen and Radio Gaga.

Maybe Freddie went to Iceland too?

ExConstance · 30/06/2016 13:16

Ragnar is the Icelandic version of "Roger" far more exotic.

eltsihT · 30/06/2016 13:56

Ragnar and roger have different meanings... Where did you find out they were the same?

ExConstance · 30/06/2016 15:54

eltsihT here - www.facebook.com/LittleVikingHorse I love all things Icelandic and would love to have an Icelandic horse of my own. You will see from the LVH facebook group and website that very sadly Roger Bax, who owned Fleygur and featured as "my mate Roger" died recently , very suddenly in May. Solva Icelandics named a foal after him.

"This is one of three foals born at Solva Icelandic's today. A fine strong black Colt. He is to be called Ragnar, the Icelandic equivalent of Roger.

My Mate Roger would be chuffed. "
www.solva-icelandics.co.uk
sad story.

eltsihT · 30/06/2016 16:25

Thanks exConstance. Ragnar is a family name and I hadn't come across it being the equivalent of roger before but I see Wikipedia lists it as a possibility

Icelandic: Hróar, Hróðgeir, Ragnar

Oysterbabe · 03/07/2016 19:18

potbellyroast · 03/07/2016 19:41

They need to do more of the shouting, put the frighteners up those Frenchies.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 03/07/2016 20:37

They need a good dose if 'oooooo'; get that drumming bloke and fans in the dressing room at half time .

Come on Iceland, do it.

gunsandbanjos · 03/07/2016 20:40

The hymn in the train station is spellbinding, absolutely magnificent.

JedRambosteen · 03/07/2016 20:48

It's not going well Sad DS2 has wandered off as it makes him "too sad seeing Iceland lose". 4-0. I'm not sure I can bear to watch the 2nd half.

KissMyArse · 03/07/2016 21:00

Asgeir Borkur's beard would have frightened the French (or tripped them up) Sad
