You know the weird sort of 'oooing' they all do in tandem Confused

OP posts:
TanTanNubuck · 28/06/2016 14:27

The first time I noticed it was quite early in the match after they'd won a throw-in. I thought it was fab, DP wasn't so impressed.
I was disturbingly attracted to a lot of the Iceland team, it's quite worrying as I'm old enough to be their mother Confused.
They didn't look like young men though, they looked like REAL men Grin

MrsSpecter · 28/06/2016 14:30

One of them looked really young to me.

cozietoesie · 28/06/2016 14:33

At least they didn't go 'bare sark' - as in some of the old legends. I doubt that most of those posting could have handled that. 😄

MrsSpecter · 28/06/2016 14:42

Im guessing that the word 'bare' is a heavy indicator there? Grin

TanTanNubuck · 28/06/2016 14:50

Oh I missed that one MrsSpecter. I'd better find a team photo and have a look, you know just so I know who he is Grin

cozietoesie · 28/06/2016 14:50

Strictly speaking, it means 'without armour' but there are some old tales. 😄

TanTanNubuck · 28/06/2016 14:51

Oh really Cozie ? I think I need to brush up on my Viking history. Wink

TinklyLittleLaugh · 28/06/2016 14:57

DH claims his team (Wigan) have a very similar chantHmm. I'm willing to bet money it is nothing like it, especially since the extremely irritating "Will Grigg's on fire" thing originated on the Wigan terraces.

I actually found that Icelandic chant profoundly unnerving. I wonder if in a past life I lived in a village raided by Vikings Grin

MrsSpecter · 28/06/2016 15:01

I can see why that would be an unnerving chant in a battle but in the context of the match i found it really sexy Grin

cozietoesie · 28/06/2016 15:05

So the broad AIBU feeling is that people don't much care who wins the footie as long as they can view lots of Iceland's matches? 😄

IamaBluebird · 28/06/2016 15:05

Aron Gunnarsson is well known at Cardiff for his long throw. Was only telling my lovely English cousin to watch out for him before the game.

FurryLittleTwerp · 28/06/2016 15:08

"bare sark" eh?

origin of "berserk" perhaps?

thinks lustily of naked rampaging Vikings

MrsSpecter · 28/06/2016 15:13

Yup! Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2016 15:18

yes!! I now am an Iceland fan.

They are verrrrry nice. When do they play next?

FurryLittleTwerp · 28/06/2016 15:20

I love Iceland - I've been three times - Icelanders are lovely, very friendly Grin

It'd be great if their team continues to do well Smile

IamaBluebird · 28/06/2016 15:43

Like to see Iceland beat France. However I'd much prefer a Welsh win on friday. Come on Wales.

oldlaundbooth · 28/06/2016 16:36

Loving all the Iceland talk.

Icelandic men are yum - I'm cheering for them now in the Euro!

oldlaundbooth · 28/06/2016 16:38

'I actually found that Icelandic chant profoundly unnerving. I wonder if in a past life I lived in a village raided by Vikings'

Me too, tinkly. Love all those huge men with their icy eyes and frosty demeanor (see what I did there, he he)

SquinkiesRule · 28/06/2016 16:47

This video shows the drum guy keeping time. I hadn't heard it before, very cool.

FedUpWithBriiiiiick · 28/06/2016 21:02

Here's some lovely Icelandic men singing an ancient hymn in a train station. Goosebumps.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/06/2016 21:09

just informed dh I'm ditching him and marrying an Icelandic.

MrSlant · 28/06/2016 21:28

That hymn. The acoustics. Men who can sing.

MrSlant · 28/06/2016 21:30

Do you know what else is sexy? In the clip with the drummer there appear to be very few people recording, the vast majority are there with their hands up, commitment to the many not everyone wanting to get to post it to social media first. Now that is the sign of good men.

MrsLouisTomlinson · 28/06/2016 21:44

I'm in Nice at the minute and watched the match last night in the fan zone with several hundred other people. By the end of the night we had switched allegiances and were chanting along with the Best of them. Fantastic atmosphere!

RudeElf · 28/06/2016 22:47

Wow that hymn singing! Beautiful
