to think Nicola Sturgeon should be tried for treason?

anAlienInUK · 25/06/2016 20:58

For continuing attempts to break up the UK?

Admittedly I don't know the law regarding treason exactly, but suspect she hasn't actually done anything illegal? But why is it ok to try to continuously break the country apart?

(Have namechanged as am expecting to get slaughtered)

Nicola surgeon AKA Jimmy Kranky needs to accept that Scotland knew that a European referendum was looming when they voted to remain. In the UK - warts and all. Scotland can't vote to stay part of this democracy and then have another referendum every time they don't like the democratic decision made by the system they voted to be part of. Get a grip Jimmy Kranky - you didn't get your own way - twice, but that's democracy - the democracy the ad Scottish people voted to be part of.

Stratter5 · 25/06/2016 22:19

Scotland seems incredibly attractive right now.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 25/06/2016 22:22

Are you silly for real op? As my teens would say?

Bunnyjo · 25/06/2016 22:26

OP, YABVU!

I think that NS is on a power trip, trying to go down in history as the person that frees Scotland. And then in a few years she'll be gone and the rest will have to deal with whatever shitstorm follows.

Oh the irony! I think the following is far more accurate:

I think that Boris is on a power trip, trying to go down in history as the person that frees the UK. And then in a few years he'll be gone and the rest will have to deal with whatever shitstorm follows.

The worst thing is Boris isn't deluded enough to think he is doing this for the greater good of the country, he is doing it to further his own political career.

I rarely agree with anything NS has to say, but for once I think she is absolutely right. The Scottish voted on independence, based on the UK being part of the EU. Due to Thursday's EU referendum those terms have now changed, despite Scotland voting, with a clear majority, to remain in the EU. The Scottish should have a right to vote on whether they remain part of a UK that is not within the EU or whether they become independent and can negotiate to remain within the EU during the rUK's exit.

Edmund Genius!

Baconyum · 25/06/2016 22:27

Baconymum what a fantastic idea. Count me in. [Fetches pitchfork from garage] Grin wasn't my idea but happy to run with it.

Vive la revolution!

Joking aside not totally joking there have been some political 'experts' that have said it's possible for Scotland to stay uk AND be in the EU

CherryPicking · 25/06/2016 22:29

I think your thread should be deleted for inciting racial hatred. And if you don't know what treason actually means, why not Google it before you post?!

GodDamnThatTurtle · 25/06/2016 22:30

David Cameron first though. yeah?

He's been much better at it.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 25/06/2016 22:32

If your thread is meant to be funny - well it isn't. You sound spectacularly ill informed op. It's both scary and quite annoying.

CherryPicking · 25/06/2016 22:34

And yes, I know caucasian Scots and English people are regarded as the same race, but race is a vague enough term that we talk about racism against French and German people, so it makes sense to use it when you post something as hyperbolic as trying her for treason, given the history of our two nations, and what the penalty for treason was for most of recorded history.

timeandtide · 25/06/2016 22:34

cherrypicking racial hatred against who? Confused

Perhaps you need to hop on google too Hmm

CherryPicking · 25/06/2016 22:35

See above, timeandtide. It appears Google will fill in your contextual blanks too.

JockTamsonsBairns · 25/06/2016 22:36

Just popped in to make my point, but bunnyjo has said everything I wanted to, and made a better job of it.

anAlienInUK · 25/06/2016 22:37

Wtf has race got to do with it?Hmm

Fintress · 25/06/2016 22:38

FFS, I have seen some crazy threads over the last couple of days but this one takes the star prize for sheer stupity. Treason indeed.

timeandtide · 25/06/2016 22:39

Just a thought for all you English folk....

If you did decide to move up here in the event of Scotland going back into the EU, would you need a visa?

Please come up though. All welcome. Come to Glasgow - were the best Grin

GiddyGiddyGoat · 25/06/2016 22:40

Very tempting t and t - and thanks for the warm invite!

Obviously you can't be serious, I'm only wading in to share my thoughts. I'm really jealous Scotland has Nicola Sturgeon as First Minster. Her factual, measured approach is such a stark contrast to the ridiculous bluster of Farage and Johnson who made false claims to secure a leave vote, going back on these within hours of the leave victory.

I voted remain, agree with democracy so fair enough we leave. HOWEVER, I would feel a whole heap better about it had the leave campaign been really honest and clear to people about what leave meant. Immigration unlikely to change, NHS not necessarily likely to get more money.

Nicola is now responding to the wishes of the people in the country that she is paid to represent. She's doing her job, right?

anAlienInUK · 25/06/2016 22:44

Can we just pop back into EU like it's a corner shop? Just pop out of the UK and back into EU?

clusterfuck seems an appropriate expression

OP posts:
timeandtide · 25/06/2016 22:44

The thing is april (and I see where you're coming from) sturgeon and salmond made their own false claims during the Indy ref so they're hardly whiter than (their) white (paper)

How much is a barrel of oil these days? Ahhhhhhh the arse fell out that, didn't it? And it was meant to sustain our economy.

Sugarlightly · 25/06/2016 22:45

To all the people that think. Scotland, England, Wales and NI are seperate countries:

They're not

prettybird · 25/06/2016 22:47

YABU. And very ridiculous.

And BTW, in Scotland, sovereignty resides with the people, so just who is she is being treasonous against Confused?

You're welcome to come up here (if you're not already in Scotland) and vote against her. The SNP deserves a better opposition.

She does speak for me and I for one am glad that she is FM.

She's also the only leader that's been visible in the last couple of days and the only one who seemed to have prepared contingency plans in the event of a Brexit vote as she announced about a week and a half ago.

If you don't believe me, here it is reported in the Courrier (not a paper generally known for being friendly towards the SNP).

CherryPicking · 25/06/2016 22:59

To all those saying this can't be about racism, Wikipedia is your friend, don't take my word for it. A race if people can simply be a shared history, language and culture. It even uses scotland as an example! It doesn't have to be about skin colour. But I guess some people are too busy rolling your eyes to bother with things like facts. And treason is a word the OP appears to have chosen to be highly emotive, to invoke connotations of capital punishment. Ergo hatred.

Agree.
NS is on a power trip.

It's all very well telling people we can be 'strong alone'

but the reality is that Scotland doesn't have the reserves to shore up Nicola's reckless ideas.
