Some people need to give their head a wobble and honestly grow the fuck up and stop throwing their toys out the pram.

I understand people are upset and even angry the way the referendum went, however that does not give anyone the right to be vile and abusive!

It's completely unacceptable to tell someone they need "opt out of life" Angry because they choose there democratic right not to vote!

I am ashamed to be apart of this forum today!

MN admin shoud be ashamed of themselves, talk guidelines being broken left right and centre and you're no where to be seen!

Grow the fuck up and stop being unpleasant nasty fuckers! I very rarely swear but this place sickens me to the core of my stomach today!

OP MN is a big place and there will always be those that bring it down to their level across many topics. Emotions are high right now but don't let it reflect on MN as a whole.

It's good that you had support when you needed it just remember that support and let the rest of it pass you by.

This site is known to be unrepresentative of the population as a whole.

Also after the last general election it was notably abusive towards the electorate who did not share the (minority) view that is preferred by vocal posters here.

I agree OP, it's unedifying and I think it has been divisive in terms of geographically and - in breach of the Equalities Act - on age grounds.

It's a barrage of insults (from only some posters, but repeated so many times it's the dominant impressions) and it means that MN is useless these days on political subjects, as that sort of onslaught just stifles debate.

There were attempts at threads looking at that phenomenon after the last general election. But the posters dominant with the insults then must have lacked self awareness or were simply not interested how they came across. They will perpetuate their political bubble.

LucilleBluth · 25/06/2016 08:29

I agree OP. The absolute low point being a thread entitled 'I hope the working class suffer', I've never seen anything like it. The veil has lifted and we can see how the poor are viewed in this country.

Grow the fuck up and stop being unpleasant nasty fuckers

Stop shouting and swearing at people OP. It's extremely unpleasant to label PP Nasty fuckers. Other than that your whole OP is ranty and a TAAT, so you know...stop it and toughen up.

You didn't actually vote did you? Which is why you can't understand why people are so angry. You're apathetic about a major referendum with a huge impact on all of our lives in every way possible but passionate enough about a thread on a forum to start your own. Erm ok!

Last point, stop reading them if they upset you. It's not rocket science

OP - YANBU - completely agree.
Am now just hiding all the Brexit threads and also avoiding FB because of the hysterical outpourings of those who think democracy is only for the rich, and poor people and northerners (who made up much of the leave vote) are also racist and ignorant Angry.

WeekendAway · 25/06/2016 08:33

most of the aggression is coming from the Leave side.

Shock fanjo are you for real?

WeekendAway · 25/06/2016 08:34

Completely agree with VikingVolka

MsJamieFraser · 25/06/2016 08:34

I disagree with the thinking of that fuckingcunt not the OP as I've seen enough of their posts to think, shall we say at times goady...

However a poster should be able to start a thread asking other no voters to share their opinion without being subjected to abuse. In the same way others have started threads being disappointed or happy with the result.

I hate abuse, I truly do, as you can see from this thread Blush

Helmetbymidnight · 25/06/2016 08:37

There is a lot of anger on the remain side.

The fact the the leave side dont understand why is all part of the problem.

ExcuseMyEyebrows · 25/06/2016 08:37

hmm most of the aggression is coming from the Leave side.

Errm, I think you'll find it isn't!

BaboonBottom · 25/06/2016 08:38

I agree. People have differing opinions based on their life. It doesn't mean either is 'right' and the other 'wrong'. Hurling abuse doesn't change the fact each persons life and life experiences are different.

judythecat · 25/06/2016 08:42

Msjamie you hate abuse but you rant and swear at PP telling them to grow the fuck up, give their heads a wobble (cringe) and that they are nasty fuckers?

Stones, glass houses etc

Siiiiiiiigh Hmm

ToastDemon · 25/06/2016 08:42

Feelings are running high, but ffs the Leave vote has just wrecked the UK economy overnight, people are losing their jobs and their homes, of course it's going to get a bit heated. YABU.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 25/06/2016 08:44

Errm I find it is.

The bewilderment of the Leavers as to why Remainers are so angry is part and parcel of the ignorance and naivety that produced this disastrous vote.

A 4% majority has utterly fucked the future of this country and some people are so dumb as to ask 'why are you being rude'?

Exactly.

But "We're taking back control, innit!"

fourmummy · 25/06/2016 08:49

It's the sneering

I have never had the misfortune to witness so many sneery, abusive and plain nasty comments from the Remain side. This is happening in RL and on social media, too. The sneering is especially upsetting and revolting. If people believe that those who voted Leave are a bunch of uneducated, xenophobic, stupid oiks, then, well, educate them. Use rhetoric, argument and debate to change viewpoints. That's what we do socially and politically. If you think that those who voted differently to you did so because they don't have enough knowledge, then you should have done something about that fact. The superiority complex has to end. It's becoming unbearable.

FannyFanakapan · 25/06/2016 08:50

Mrsguy, I agree with you.

Democracy until we dont get our desired result, then we want to qualify our voters - are they too old? Too ignorant? WHere does that end? Should we deny the vote to people who have terminal illnesses? To people who are drug addicted or alcoholic or smokers or overweight? People with a history of mental health issues? ANy one of these groups might not have to live with the consequances of their vote.

3-4 years from now, if the politicians dont start representing the poorer parts of the country effectively and addressing their very real concerns, I have a fear that a new far right party will emerge and do major damage to this country.
