To ask how many of you 'Remainers' actively campaigned/canvassed prior to the referendum?

To ask how many of those of you who seem to be so well informed/intellectually and morally superior and clued up on the EU actually bothered to canvas/campaign/promote the Remain campaign? Had people been privy to many of the wise words being spouting from said superior mortals after the event, might the result of the referendum have been different?

I've not heard anything today that wasn't being said yesterday. People just chose to listen to Farage and the rest of those lying twats instead.

I don't know anyone who has ever been swayed by an unsolicited political campaigner or canvasser, so no, I didn't, because I think it would have been an ineffective waste of my time.

I did however discuss my views and share information with friends, family and colleagues in an informal way, and put forward my own opinions while listening to those of others, which I think is more effective.

I did with friends and colleges. I don't see that trying to influence strangers really has a huge benefit myself.

I did also share all the unbiased information I could find. Information that came from sources not aligned to either partition.

I am also not bettering those who did vote to leave. The vote has been cast and although I feel the vote went the wrong way, we must accept it.

Myself and my husband will continue to do what we can to shield our family from the worst of the fallout and wait and see what the further holds.

I voted remain and campaigned heavily, both delivering leaflets and manning stalls. I am very curious at the levels of anger shown today by remain voters and am disappointed this level of passion was not channelled into campaigning.

Have you even stopped to consider that not everyone has the time, resources and support to be out of the house campaigning?

Just because some didn't doesn't mean that they didn't want to.

I'm politically restricted because I work in the public sector because I genuinely give a lot of shits about this country and the people in it. So, no, I didn't campaign because I wasn't allowed. That's the compromise of choosing such a career to me

As a working single Mum (full time work), who has the baby full time also, I made time. Not saying everyone could/should, but I reckon a lot more non voters/leavers would have voted remain had they been more informed. Hey ho. It's only forever and what does an unpleasant twat like me know? Loving the assumptions and knee jerk reactions. I think some people are perhaps realising they could have done a lot more and are now kicking themselves (and others while they are at it) for their complacency.

I did campaign, but not sure I actually changed any minds. No-one really welcomes a political canvasser, right?

I also did GOTV, but I think turnout in our area was as big as it could reasonably have got, so not sure that was helpful either.

Also, I felt in physical danger doing it, particularly after the murder of Jo Cox. Not meaning to be a drama llama, but there's always the odd eccentric who wants to chase you down the road and tell you where you can stick your leaflet. And the level of feeling in this went way beyond a normal election.

I also think you can't inform people who don't want to be informed, really. When their newspaper has been dripping crap about ROMANIAN MURDERERS STEALING OUR BENEFITS etc into their minds for years, trying to present facts in a calm and balanced way is on a hiding to nothing.

I mean, one message Project Fear managed to get across was that a Leave vote will fuck up the economy, surely? But there are still Leave voters this morning going, 'How come the economy is fucked?'

I don't think you would have wanted me campaigning op, as a barely understood the arguments for or against. I don't think I'm alone in that and not sure the actual politicians had a perfect grasp of the facts either. I still voted remain though.

Personally I feel the Remain vote would have gone rather better if certain public figures - I'm talking about you Eddie Izzard and Bob Geldof - hadn't campaigned quite as much.

OP you're obviously angry and upset about the vote results. I feel the same. But let's not tear ourselves up if we're on the same side - it's bad enough having to watch the Tories and it appears Labour do this.
