I'm feeling pretty shocked and scared right now.

Why did you vote for brexit?

Britain has spoken. We've all had our say. More people wanted out. End of.

thebestfurchinchilla · 24/06/2016 15:49

helmet Idiots will be idiots. There are some in remain and some in leave.

Helmetbymidnight · 24/06/2016 15:49

Not 'End of'.

We can still have a discussion. You don't have to join. You can 'leave'

StillDrSethHazlittMD · 24/06/2016 15:50

thebest I take it you regularly campaign for a change to the UK voting system of first past the post then, because our current constituency model makes it very difficult indeed to vote a government in or out if they don't serve the country well - after all, it can't be right that the current Government have as many seats as they do with just over a third of the actual votes cast? In fact, in huge swathes of the UK, a vote is often worthless because of it.

time4chocolate · 24/06/2016 15:54

Just Wow!!!!! Definitely and without a shadow of a doubt know I made the right choice now.

thebestfurchinchilla · 24/06/2016 15:54

What I find really ugly is that joining the EU was voluntary. GB has voted to leave. It's all being done via the proper channels and the eU are saying that they want to stop other euro sceptic countries doing the same. A few are already hinting they want to do the same. Do we not all stand for freedom of choice? It is our right to file for divorce from a partner without being punished but not to leave the eu. All seems very juvenile to me. EU get the hint, the system doesn't work anymore!

TheSparrowhawk · 24/06/2016 15:59

'Sparrow - EU means 35% of decisions made by UK.

Non EU means 100% decisions

Not people in Brussels that we never elected!'

You do realise that British MEPs are elected by Britain?
If we are not in the EU we have zero say over what the EU does. So they can slap a 100% tariff on British goods and we have no control over that.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 24/06/2016 16:01

So the Leavers will now be after abolishing the monarchy in favour of a democratically elected alternative, so we can spend all that lovely lolly on the NHS, I assume, since they love democracy so much?

TheSparrowhawk · 24/06/2016 16:02

Joining the EU was voluntary, and European countries joined it voluntarily because they had just been through the second world war in a generation. They realised that they had to form some sort of long-standing system of cooperation to avoid yet another war. And the solution was the EU - not perfect, but incredibly successful considering the circumstances.

The EU was instrumental in bringing true peace to Europe, including the fall of the Berlin wall and the Good Friday agreement in Northern Ireland.

And now, Britain has said 'we're not into that shit.'

'Lest we forget' - what a FUCKING JOKE

thebestfurchinchilla · 24/06/2016 16:02

No seek the monarchy do not run the country.

thebestfurchinchilla · 24/06/2016 16:03

So sparrow how do you think the war veterans voted?

TheSparrowhawk · 24/06/2016 16:06

War veterans???????????????

Jesus FUCKING Christ.

Thebest, World War 2 started in 1939

Anyone who fought in WW2 would be at least 93 now. How many 93 year olds do you think there are in the UK?

thebestfurchinchilla · 24/06/2016 16:09

I know 2! They voted leave fyi.

Marynary · 24/06/2016 16:09

So sparrow how do you think the war veterans voted?

I think that comment supports the "non educated" argument.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 24/06/2016 16:11

But they're unelected heads of state who take lots and lots of our taxes? Who do have political sway (cf Prince Charles), and who are on a gravy train that frankly makes that on which (elected) MEPs were supposed to be riding look like a gravy smear. If you lurve democracy, how can that be right?

TheSparrowhawk · 24/06/2016 16:11

I think if I were a war veteran I would be looking at the country I fought for and think 'shit it just goes round and round and round doesn't it? Why the fuck did I bother??'

thebestfurchinchilla · 24/06/2016 16:13

As I said i know 2 that voted leave. My parents were war babies, they voted leave. Off to celebrate now. Cheers Grin

6. Oh and a little known fact - Brussels have not had their accounting/financial books assessed in 25 years - they are as corrupt as they come.

Not sure where you got this idea - the EU's accounts are audited every year:

The EU accounts for 2014 were correctly prepared in accordance with international public sector accounting standards, and present a true and fair view of the EU’s financial results for the year and its assets and liabilities at the end of the year. We were therefore able to give a clean opinion on the reliability of the accounts (‘signed off’), as we have done since 2007.

Link here.

time4chocolate · 24/06/2016 16:18

Sparrow - this is getting ridiculous but, here is a thought since you bought up 'lest we forget' How about we redress the balance and the huge debt we owe them by trying to get our country back, they fought for Great Britain not United States of Europe.

TulipsInAJug · 24/06/2016 16:20

The monarchy are hardly comparable to the EU. They don't exactly have the same political power, tax-raising ability or ambitions as the EU, do they?

TheWitchwithNoName · 24/06/2016 16:20

I voted leave and I can't tell you how many of my long term colleagues have called me racist today. I'm a bit fed up of justifying my decision! My reasons are as good as anyone else's. Too many knee-jerk reactions, pulling out of buying houses and threatening to emigrate. Just let it all settle down.

yummymummycleo · 24/06/2016 16:23

It's scary. Both my parents voted out. Basically because of immigration. When talking to my mum I was so shocked that someone well read, well educated, well informed and who reads the guardian etc has chosen to vote leave. It's not just racists and ill informed people who have voted leave it's the intelligent amongst us too.
