I'm feeling pretty shocked and scared right now.

Why did you vote for brexit?

Lol at glueandstick they'd be voting Trump if they could. Let's build a wall!

MojoMoon · 24/06/2016 09:06

"Okay, so Mojo, you're considering people who don't have A levels to be uneducated?

That's most of the country"

Not uneducated since they have received some education. But less educated, yes. Probably would also say under educated. The modern world needs people with higher skill levels than a handful of GCSEs, be that a levels or skilled vocational qualifications. It is one of the reasons why teenagers have to be in school or relevant training until 18 now.

Of course not having educational qualification does not necessarily mean being unintelligent as someone keeps posting. But there is a strong correlation.
I'm sure you are all statistical outliers who are extremely smart though.

concertplayer · 24/06/2016 09:06

I think many people voted Brexit as the Eu was a way of blaming someone or something else for the mess the Uk is in. I think Leave did make some valid points , however. Most of our problems have been caused by ourselves not the EU

Oblomov16 · 24/06/2016 09:07

Not all leavers are racist. That's insulting.

And saying leavers are old and uneducated is insulting.

And goodbye to the NHS?
That's not an EU issue. Or if the NJS is going down the pan then we need to look at Cameron and previous governments. And making our school into academies? That's due to politicians, do not blame the EU for that.

JudyCoolibar · 24/06/2016 09:07

One glimmer of consolation: I can't wait to see the outraged expressions on the face of the Brexiters when they realise they have to join the end of the long, long no-EU passport queue when they go to Europe.

JudyCoolibar · 24/06/2016 09:08

Not all leavers are racist.

True. But all racists are leavers. That's the company you chose to vote and campaign with, stop complaining about it.

Viviennemary · 24/06/2016 09:08

I voted leave because in the end a country must make its own decisions with its own parliament. I hated the way to get trade we had to give away our rights to self govern.

JudyCoolibar · 24/06/2016 09:09

Or if the NHS is going down the pan then we need to look at Cameron and previous governments.

The point is that previously it stood a chance of surviving. Now it doesn't.

JudyCoolibar · 24/06/2016 09:10

Viviennemary, you do realise that the only way we are going to get trade now is to accede to whatever conditions the EU chooses to impose on us, don't you? And that, whereas previously we had a big say in trading conditions, now we will have none at all?

Helmetbymidnight · 24/06/2016 09:11

And saying leavers are old and uneducated is insulting.

After every election, there is a break down of who voted what: North/south/professional/women/men etc. I can't understand why you are so upset by the FACT that leavers tended to be the OLD OR (not necessarily and) the UNEDUCATED.

Is it the phrasing you object to? Ok, leavers tended to be over 60 and left school at 16 or 18.

There are always people who buck the trend, but that IS the trend.

milkyface · 24/06/2016 09:11

I'm not sure the NHS had any chance of surviving either way unfortunately.

I'm not sure the NHS has anything to do with being in the EU or not.

Lynnm63 · 24/06/2016 09:11

We will be smiling in the non eu queue. We are British after all I liked my old blue passport and like queueing, win win really.

OutsiderInTheGarden · 24/06/2016 09:12

Kimononono do you honestly believe British people are being stopped from picking crops?? Those workers are being paid the national minimum wage. If you were a business owner would you want to go through the hassle of recruiting overseas, and often prividing transport and even accommodation for your agricultural workers (this is common here in Cornwall) if you could recruit locally on the same wage? And there will be a small minority of employees paying illegally low wages, but you won't stop that. So presumably you are happy and have the means to pay substantially more for your food?

milkyface · 24/06/2016 09:12

Also can I just say that if you left school at 16 or 18 - doesn't necessarily make you uneducated.

Many many people who left at 16 have several degrees and are incredibly successful now. You can go back you know.

AnneElliott · 24/06/2016 09:13

I voted leave and for me it was the vast waste of money, the fact that the EU moves between Brussels and Strasburg and that they had no intention of reforming the institution in any way.

Nothing to do with immigration, and I also thought that we couldn't continue being half in and half out. The Euro countries need to integrate more and I didn't think this was good for the UK.

MangoMoon · 24/06/2016 09:13

I don't really do fear, i do excitement, I do a new era, I do lots of things. Once again i certainly don't do shitty sorry for yourself fear.

Me too Beetroot.

I feel quite optimistic about the future today actually.

*There will be short term pain, there always is at a time of radical change, but I voted out based on my hopes for the long term.

Next goal for me is to be able to vote for a viable, united and competent Labour Party at the next general election who can do something positive with the results and freedoms of Brexit.*

Agree CarlGrimes Smile

Put those personal contingency plans into action as soon as possible today folks. Dh has a job interview for a higher paid job today (sadly it's a German company so who knows?) and I'll shortly be calling in to fix my mortgage rate for several years (though no idea how long will be needed). I got my euros for my holiday at 1.2 at 5am before the value of the pound depreciates further.

And there lies the disparity between the working class disenfranchised Leave voters and the disconnected, unaware Remainers.

We don't have contingency plans, interviews for higher paid jobs at a moments notice & an upcoming holiday.

We're already at rock bottom.

almondpudding · 24/06/2016 09:15

It's EEA and non EEA when you show your passport.

Nobody has said we're leaving the EEA.

Lynnm63 · 24/06/2016 09:15

Judy they sell more to us than we do to them. German cbi already said they don't want tariffs. If they put tarrifs on our exports we would put them on theirs and as they sell us more they will pay more in tariffs than we do.
Do you think the Germans will cut their nose off to spite their face?

MangoMoon · 24/06/2016 09:16

You've just reinforced my opinion that it was people who can't control their emotions, and people who are poor at critical thinking and understanding complex issues - who voted leave. Yes. The stupid people.

Oh the irony!

People who can't control their emotions?!
Poor at critical thinking?!

What, like the doom mongering drama occurring all over MN this morning!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 24/06/2016 09:17

almond
I think you'll find Michael Gove did say we would leave the EEA
www.itv.com/news/2016-04-19/michael-gove-says-britains-future-outside-the-eu-would-also-be-outside-the-single-market-but-what-does-that-mean/

"Vote Leave's future plan for the UK would be outside the EU and outside the EEA"

FoggyBottom · 24/06/2016 09:19

These jobs will now be typically more available to British citizens

They always have been. But a lot of British citizens don't want them.

Helmet, leaving school at 16 or 18 does not mean uneducated.

By definition, if you've been at school until you are 16 or 18, you've received an education.

It shows utter contempt for most ordinary people to believe the standard state education that the country provides them with renders them uneducated.

mimishimmi · 24/06/2016 09:23

I'm wondering why people are saying voting to leave is racist? Surely racists would want a united Europe wouldn't they? Isn't that the German dream?
