Yes I have voted, but I am sick and tired of the unrest, I'm aware there has been a lot of discontent for a long time but its now feeling toxic and I want it to be over one way or the other.

Perpendicular I worry about jobs too. Husband and I both work in banking, job losses would be scary difficult to re train as well wih small kids.

soundsystem · 23/06/2016 13:51

Yes, I quite agree! I've been out campaigning today (won't say which side for, that's not the point of my post) and I've been shouted at, sworn at, and spat at just for offering a leaflet. I understand people are sick of it and might not want a leaflet or to talk about it, which is absolutely fine with me, but there's no need to be so rude!

branofthemist · 23/06/2016 13:52

I felt quite overwhelmed voting. It's a huge decision.

I will be glad when it's over, whatever the outcome

squoosh · 23/06/2016 13:53

Cameron put us in this position because we wanted him too. Or most of the country did.

Untrue. Cameron put us in this position in order to appease the Eurosceptics in his own party. We're here because of a Tory squabble.

Winterjoy · 23/06/2016 13:54

It feels so different for me I think because of contributing towards a definite Yes or No this time, whereas my vote is usually for a person/party with complex/changeable policies etc so the overall outcome will still be quite variable iyswim

In past elections I haven't dwelled on my vote, once it's done it's done and I forget about it and get on with my day. This time though, on the way out, I suddenly got a horrible niggling feeling that I might have crossed the wrong box (opposite to what I meant to vote, not that I had changed my mind) Confused it's really playing on my mind now.....

Can anyone remember was 'Remain' at the top and 'Leave' the second choice listed??

ICanCountToOneHundred · 23/06/2016 13:54

I have an awful gut feeling that we will leave. Posts like Nosireebob 's are exactly why I voted remain. I feel an out vote will somehow validate the awful extreme right wing views that have sadly come to the fore during this campaign.

peggyundercrackers · 23/06/2016 13:55

it doesn't matter what we vote for we will get fucked over. no point worrying about it as nothing will really change. both sides were full of scaremongering stories and telling lies about everything to scare people into doing whatever they wanted them to do.

I don't get why people are scared of a vote...

ICanCountToOneHundred · 23/06/2016 13:55

Winterjoy Remain at the top. Although you now have me questioning myself!

HopeClearwater · 23/06/2016 13:56

Yes, and then enough people voted Tory in 2015 to let this whole thing go ahead.

LordoftheTits · 23/06/2016 13:56

I felt much worse the day of the vote for Scottish independence. I went to bed feeling ill, checked the news when I woke up and cried. I was gutted.

I feel uneasy today but nothing compared to that.

peggyundercrackers · 23/06/2016 13:56

the EU is a right wing organisation though so why would you want to stay with them?

Celticlassie · 23/06/2016 13:56

The weather in Glasgow is lovely and I can't bring myself to care about this referendum. I'll vote remain, because as much as I don't like or trust the EU, I like and trust the Westminster government much much less. I'm scunnered with politics though. It's all about shafting the poor these days.

Lottapianos · 23/06/2016 13:56

'I've been out campaigning today (won't say which side for, that's not the point of my post) and I've been shouted at, sworn at, and spat at just for offering a leaflet'

That's absolutely disgusting behaviour. There's a lot of people walking around full to the brim with anger and hatred apparently. I know that feelings are running high, and I feel quite sick about the whole thing myself, but this kind of behaviour is frightening, and seems to be becoming more accepted. Its the thin end of the wedge that leads to MPs receiving death and rape threats, almost as standard, on social media

purplevase4 · 23/06/2016 13:57

Does anyone actually think the outs will win?

Yes I do. If you come back and say "I told you so" tomorrow if the remains win I will be very happy :)

I was in and out of my polling station so quickly I had a horrible thought I'd put my x in the wrong place. I didn't though. It's easy to get paranoid like "did I lock the door" when I leave the house!

MsWorthington · 23/06/2016 13:57

I know what you mean. Normally I go through life trying not to worry too much about things I can't change, but this has me rattled. I've voted, there's nothing more I can do, but walking DD to school this morning looking at all the children going in I was so aware that if this goes the wrong way and we leave it's their futures we've potentially screwed up.

At least with general elections you get a chance to try again every four years, but this is it, if we leave the EU there's no going back ever.

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 23/06/2016 13:58

It's been truly hateful. I want it over and done with including the post referendum analysis.

TransvisionTramp · 23/06/2016 13:58

I'm really worried about it all.
I've voted Remain, but have also seen the venom on my Facebook from the people who want to leave. Scares me.
I'm so concerned about the future if the 'leavers' win. Cant stop thinking about it actually.

Indiaplain · 23/06/2016 13:58

she has a wild heart but weren't the exit polls for the GE correct?!

Littlemisslovesspiders · 23/06/2016 13:59

I just hope that whatever happens there isn't too much crowing from the 'winning' side.

That alone will ramp up tensions further.

Whatever happens there are going to be nearly half of the country disappointed if polls are to go by.

Politics needs to be done differently. The divisions are being stoked more and more.

Neither campaign have covered themselves in glory during this campaign.

Herzie · 23/06/2016 13:59

Glad it's not just me either. I've had an impeding sense of gloom since the bloody thing was announced. I've been active in the campaign too and am revolted about the way it's been carried out. One of our side was actually punched in the back by the other side while walking along the street in the local town. Not to mention the prats in the national limelight on both sides.
I've already voted but won't be able to relax (hopefully) until tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed.

SestraClone · 23/06/2016 13:59

It has brought out racism and bigotry on my FB feed, I had no idea some of my friends thought that way.

2nds · 23/06/2016 13:59

Voting to stay in, I've held that view since the very whispers that there'd be a referendum.

The thing that I'm sick of is this whole bring a pen bullshit. If votes were going to be sabotaged they'd chuck them in the bin lol.....

purplevase4 · 23/06/2016 14:00

I don't know how we will feel about it all as a family if the UK leaves, knowing they voted for it confused Feel quite upset about that really

My dad is a Daily Mail reader and would have voted to leave despite having fought in WW2. But he's in a nursing home and can't vote - even a postal vote would have been beyond him.

My mother is voting to remain. She's in the minority where she lives, which is why I suspect the leavers will win.

purplevase4 · 23/06/2016 14:00

Sorry Daily Express not Daily Mail. Same difference.

peggyundercrackers · 23/06/2016 14:00

I was so aware that if this goes the wrong way and we leave it's their futures we've potentially screwed up.

there is no right way though to vote though.
